Report: Raja Jackson to face charges in wrestling attack

According to a report from the Los Angeles Times, Raja Jackson – the son of former UFC light heavyweight champion Quinton “Rampage” Jackson will face criminal charges for his bloody attack on independent wrestler Syko Stu (real name Stuart Smith), which took place during an event at the KnokX Pro Wrestling Academy back on August 23.

The report notes the 25-year old Jackson will be charged with one count of felony battery that caused serious bodily injury and one count of misdemeanor battery in connection with the incident according to a spokesperson from the Los Angeles County district attorney’s office.

It was also stated that prosecutors will be seeking a sentencing enhancement because Jackson caused Smith to suffer a great amount of injuries to his body. Smith lost several teeth, suffered a laceration to his lip and trauma to his jaw. The attack saw Jackson pick up Smith, body slam him, then punch him in the head and face over 20 times.

The Los Angeles Times adds that a video from the event shows Reno Anoa’i, one of the co-owners of the venue, telling Smith that Jackson will do a “run in” on his match later in the night. Also in the video, Andre Joel Hudson, the pro wrestler who invited Jackson to the event is heard in the video telling Jackson what to do in the ring, one of which is to give Smith, “his receipts.” Jackson is also heard in the video saying, “This s— isn’t going to be scripted.”

Once Jackson made the attack, it took several wrestling and officials to pull Jackson off of Smith, with one wrestler’s scalp getting split open with a hit from Jackson.

Smith had a one-week stay in the hospital following the attack.

There is still an action GoFundMe to help raise money for his recovery and medical expenses.

The Los Angeles Times also notes that the wrestling academy, which is owned by WWE Hall of Famer Rikishi has not responded to a request for comment. In addition, after the incident, WWE withdrew the academy from it’s WWE ID program.
