24-year old Nicolth Hernandez-Lucero, who is an independent wrestler in Florida has been detained by ICE and is being held in Pompano Beach, Florida.
Lucero’s husband, Noah Lazega, in speaking with NBC6 Miami, said that his wife was taken into custody following a traffic stop by ICE agents in Fort Lauderdale back on February 11. She has remained in detention since. Nicolth, who is originally from Colombia, moved to the United States at the age of 15. In addition to being a wrestler, she also works as a surgical technician at a local hospital.
Lazega also told NBC Miami he and Nicolth were planning to celebrate their marriage with a party later this month. He further added that as citizen of the United States, he already had started the process of helping his wife adjust her immigration status.
According to Lazega, agents told Nicolth they were “in the area running plates”, when they stopped her near St. Ambrose Episcopal Church in Fort Lauderdale. Lazega says his wife asked the agents about probable cause but was given a clear explanation.
Hernandez-Lucero’s attorney attorney, Justin Gould told NBC Miami she entered the United States legally and has been going through the asylum process with her family, which is a process that can take years. Gould added that her parents have been in the US with no criminal record.
An NBC6 search of Florida public records did not show any criminal history for Hernandez-Lucero.
Hernandez-Lucero and her sister Tiffany were trained by former WWE talent Gangrel. He is now asking for support, as Hernandez-Lucero’s husband recently launched a GoFundMe campaign to help with legal expenses.
