Brian Fritz of Sportingnews.com passed along a new interview conducted with former WWE, WCW and ECW star Rey Mysterio talking his career and the AAA Triplemania XXIII PPV this Sunday in Mexico City live on US PPV. Here are some excerpts from the interview:
Mysterio on AAA Triplemania XXIII this Sunday:
This, what’s happening here on Sunday, to be able to be at your own home whether in Canada or the United States, you’ll be able to see it and relive — for those that have seen lucha libre before — relive the action of lucha libre and feel part of a culture. It’s not just a wrestling style. It’s something that has been carried within us for years and years. And for those fans who have never seen lucha libre and have wondered what it is and what it’s like, they’re going to be able to see if for the first time directly from their homes.”
Mysterio on Kevin Nash famously lawndarting him into a trailer in WCW back in 1996:
“Such a memorable moment, something that spontaneously came up in my mind, I thought, let me just jump on top of the rail out of a trailer and dive on you. Pick me up, press me and throw me against the trailer. When you’re young, you’re fearless and you can do so many things. Then years later you think, I can’t believe I did that. It’s just one of those moments that really stuck in people’s minds.”
