In a follow up to an earlier report today regarding former WWE star Alberto Rodríguez (Alberto El Patron/Alberto Del Rio) no-showing a scheduled AAA appearance in Mexico on Sunday, it turns out that he ended up getting involved in an altercation before his flight.
Rodríguez issued a statement on Instagram, tagging AAA on it, noting that he was involved in assault with a criminal with a knife outside of a restaurant shortly before his flight. The statement revealed he suffered “multiple lacerations on his arm” and other parts of his body defending against the criminal as police were called to the scene.
He received medical attention and was taken to the police department shortly after the incident forcing him to miss his flight. Rodríguez said he spoke with Lucha Libre AAA Worldwide ownership about the altercation and provided them with documentation. He said he regrets missing the appearance and plans to commit to UK appearances this weekend.
