Extreme Rising 4/4 card, SHIMMER title match announced

Extreme Rising today announced the card for their April 4th show at the National Guard Armory in Philadelphia, PA. It is as follows:

“Extreme Rising World Title Match”
STEVIE RICHARDS (c) vs. RAVEN
In this classic “student versus teacher” scenario, the student feels he has surpassed his mentor and is now the master of his domain, while his former master wishes for a chance to reign supreme once again. Can Richards defend his first ever Extreme World Title who claims to have “made him”—Raven?

“Dream Match”
JUSHIN “THUNDER” LIGER vs. SABU

For the first time ever, two of the most groundbreaking, influential aerial combatants in the history of professional wrestling will face off on American soil. On one side, the Homicidal, Suicidal, Genocidal Sabu stands tall in the city of Brotherly Love, where he has resided for two decades as the Lord of the Hardcores. On the other, international legend Jushin “Thunder” Liger, the most celebrated and colorful Japanese flier of the modern era, arriving in Philadelphia to topple the legend and add another historic win to his resume. Liger vs. Sabu. In The United States. For the First Time. Ever.

“Extreme Lucha Tag Match”
SUPER CRAZY & PESADILLA vs. DAMIEN 666 & BESTIA 666

Super Crazy returns to the United States with his nephew Pesadilla to take on Damien 666 and his son Bestia 666 in a special attraction Mexican Lucha Tag Team match.

“Grudge Match”
MATT HARDY W/REBY SKY vs. LUKE HAWX and special surprise

Matt Hardy has surpassed what anyone thought he may have been capable of when he debuted in Extreme Rising, and was on his way to defeating “The Franchise” Shane Douglas in his hometown of Pittsburgh, PA –before he was recklessly pushed by Hawx from the top rope to the concrete below, resulting in a concussion from the fall. Hawx began the verbal assault on social media by attacking Hardy and his girlfriend Reby Sky, immediately poking fun at the incident. Hardy responded by jumping him after Stevie Richards defeated Hawx to move on to become Extreme Rising champion. That same night Hardy slapped Hawx young son silly backstage thus causing Hawx to retaliate during Hardy’s match with Sabu. It’s time for these two to go one-on-one and settle their score.

“Falls Count Anywhere”
BALLS MAHONEY vs. “THE BULLDOZER” MATT TREMONT

“5 Way Throw-Down”
HIJO DE REY MISTERIO vs. FAÇADE vs. PAPADON vs BRIAN XL vs. JOHN SILVER

More matches to be announced soon.
Also appearing… RHINO, HOMICIDE, DEVON STORM, BLK OUT JEEZ & RUCKUS, LOS DRAMATICOS, and a surprise or two or three…

SHIMMER TITLE BOUT ADDED TO BELLATRIX 5

For the first time in the five and a half year history of the SHIMMER Championship, the title is set to be defended on British soil, under very British circumstances.

SHIMMER Champion Sweet Saraya Knight will put the title on the line against Destiny in the main event of Bellatrix 5, to be held in Norwich, England on March 24th. Destiny has been on a roll in recent Bellatrix shows; winning three matches in one night back at Bellatrix 3 last September to become the promotion’s Queen of the Ring, and was one of two survivors in the elimination match main event of Bellatrix 4 in November. Destiny has also faced Knight on many occasions over the years, and has picked up her fair share of victories along the way. This will be no easy night for the titleholder, who is taking on a 10+ year veteran who knows a great deal about her.

In addition, the match will be contested using traditional British rounds. That means 10 rounds of three minutes duration each, with the first wrestler to gain two falls winning the bout. SHIMMER fans can see an example of British rounds in the match between Saraya and Allison Danger on SHIMMER Volume 41, which saw Saraya score the victory.

This will be the first SHIMMER Title Match contested on British soil, the first to take place under British rules, and is the first one which features a Brit against a Brit. It will mark the second time the SHIMMER Championship has been on the line in a match held outside of the United States. Previously, Madison Eagles defended the SHIMMER Championship on a PWWA event in Australia.

The title defense comes at the start of what could be a busy period for Saraya. One week after Bellatrix 5, she is set to face LuFisto at NCW Femmes Fatales in Montreal. Then seven days later, she is scheduled to defend the SHIMMER Championship against Cheerleader Melissa in a steel cage match as part of SHIMMER 53 at WrestleCon at the Meadowlands Expo Center in Secaucus, NJ. However, she should not look past Destiny, who has a real opportunity to spoil the festivities and take the SHIMMER Championship for herself before Saraya heads to North America.

British SHIMMER fans, don’t miss your opportunity to witness history being made live and in person! Bellatrix 5 will take place at Epic Studios in Norwich, England on Sunday, March 24th, with seven matches featuring top female warriors from all across Europe. Tickets can be purchased online at http://www.wawuk.com or by calling 0800 046 8164 or 07800 077 512.
