Reason why Michael Elgin lost the ROH Title at 9/6 iPPV

The decision for Michael Elgin to lose the ROH World Title to Jay Briscoe at last night’s 9/6 ROH All-Star Extravaganza VI iPPV in Toronto, Canada was made yesterday by ROH according to a report by Jason Powell. Elgin was informed of the decision prior to the show by ROH. ROH had been frustrated with Elgin after he recently stated in an interview that he would like to tryout for Major League Baseball next year. They were also upset with the fact that Elgin lost to Trevor Lee at last month’s PWG Battle of Los Angeles tournament.

Between Saturday night into earlier today, Elgin was stopped at the border on the way to an AIW show in Cleveland and was not allowed to reenter the United States due to an expired work visa. Elgin had been waiting for a green card for some time and is said to be upset with ROH for not taking care of the situation sooner. Due to the fact that his paperwork has not been processed, it could be up to 90 days for Elgin’s paperwork to be taken care of before he can be allowed back in the United States according to a report by Mike Johnson. The work visa situation involving Elgin is said to have nothing to do with ROH deciding to have Elgin lose the title.

Originally, Elgin was scheduled to hold the ROH World Title for a lengthy period of time and was also supposed to begin a wrestling school in the Midwest, entitled the “ROH Midwest Dojo.” Elgin is currently married to women’s wrestler MsChif, who is an American citizen, so the belief is that once Elgin and ROH are able to recitfy the situation involving his work visa, Elgin will be granted US citizenship.
