Beginning in 2018, Wrestleview.com will return to monitoring and reporting on any stories making the rounds among the wrestling media. These stories will be clearly marked as a “rumor” (as highlighted in the image above) for reference.

Rey Mysterio, who made a surprise return to WWE during the Royal Rumble PPV back in January, is said to be involved in serious negotiations with WWE right now regarding a full-time return to the company according to a report by PWInsider.com.

Mysterio created a lot of buzz following his Royal Rumble appearance, with a clip of his return in January generating nearly 14 million views alone on YouTube while a backstage interview also drew nearly 2 million views as well.

According to the report by Mike Johnson, Paul “Triple H” Levesque was described as the “point person” involved in the negotiations with Mysterio. Triple H has largely taken on that role in the last few years, including being the point person for signing Ronda Rousey.

Various wrestling media reports have indicated WWE may have been trying to sign Mysterio in time to face John Cena at WrestleMania 34 in six weeks. Whether or not that will actually end up taking place still remains to be seen. Mysterio is booked to face legend Jushin “Thunder” Liger for the upcoming New Japan Pro Wrestling event in Long Beach, California on March 25. He remains a free agent as of this report.
