Predictions: TNA’s Bound for Glory PPV

Predictions from the Faculty
TNA Bound for Glory 2010 Edition
October 10, 2010
Predictions by: WrestleView Columnists and Staff
Written by: Anthony J. Valvo of Wrestleview.com

Introduction

Welcome to the latest edition of “Predictions from the Faculty”. This weekend, we gathered our thoughts for the upcoming TNA PPV. This weekend we look over what TNA deems as their “WrestleMania”, and that is TNA’s Bound for Glory in Daytona Beach, FL.

The card features eight matches. More than likely, those are the only matches we will predict.

As for the columnists, David Stephens reign as the sole holder of the Dean’s chair was short lived. Josh Boutwell earned a 4-1 record in last week’s PPV to tie Stephens for the top spot once again. Boutwell feels very confident in his selections this week, as the TNA Pay-Per-Views are what he calls “home field advantage”. Will Boutwell’s knowledge help him take over the top spot once again? Or will Stephens laugh his way back to the bank. All this columnist can say is that they can’t hold back, as we have the WrestleView Students of the Week, Jose Marrero, Matt O’Brien, and even former Dean of WrestleView Daniel Browne all within some striking distance to the top.

Also, WrestleView has a new member in the staff. His name is Enzo Mendicino and he is our new NXT recapper. I asked Mendicino if he would like to be a part of the predictions and he did not hesitate in his reply. Though he will be starting at 0-0, he will do his best to at least earn the best winning percentage. Anyways, on behalf of the Faculty, we welcome Enzo as a part of the team.

In case you are new to reading these predictions, here is the format. Each Pay-Per-View a few of the columnists on WrestleView provide predictions on who they think will win the matches. We accumulate throughout the end of the Faculty’s year (in this case it will be Royal Rumble 2011).

What makes this entirely different to others is that you, the reader, can provide your picks for a spot to have yours posted in an upcoming PPV. All the readers have to do is either leave me a message on Facebook or e-mail at mistervwv@hotmail.com. The winner among the “WrestleView Students” will win an opportunity to post their picks under the “Student of the Week” tab in the predictions standings. We all thank you for your participation.

Before I show the class our selections, here are the rankings as of WWE’s Hell in a Cell.

So without future adieu, here are the choices for TNA’s Bound for Glory.

Predictions for TNA’s Bound for Glory 2010

***Non-Championship Matches***

Tag Team Match
Eric Young and Orlando Jordan vs. Ink Inc. (Shannon Moore and Jesse Neal)

David S. – ORLANDO JORDAN AND ERIC YOUNG

Josh B. – INK INC.

Michael P. – INK INC.

Grash – INK INC.

Chad R. – INK INC.

Jose M. – I don’t really care but I am going to say INK INC. just because I think the OJ/Eric Young tag team shouldn’t be in title contention and Ink. Inc should.

Matt O. – INK INC.

Daniel B. – N/A

Anthony V. – I just don’t know why this match is on this card. But since it is and I had to make a pick I chose INK INC. Believe it or not, this team is not bad. I am sure that Eric Young will find a way to mess with Orlando Jordan’s head.

Jeff S. – INK INC.

Mike T. – N/A

Enzo M. – ORLANDO JORDAN AND ERIC YOUNG

Consensus: INK INC. 8; Jordan and Young 2.

3-on-2 Handicap Match
Kevin Nash, Sting, and D’Angelo Dinero vs. Samoa Joe and Jeff Jarrett

David S. – JOE AND JEFF JARRETT

Josh B. – JARRETT AND JOE

Michael P. – JARRETT AND JOE

Grash – JEFF JARRETT AND SAMOA JOE

Chad R. – JEFF JARRETT AND SAMOA JOE

Jose M. – JARRETT AND JOE win this match. This is really weird in storyline Nash, Sting and Pope are the supposed heels yet the babyface commissioner puts them with a man advantage over the babyfaces in a match just because he is tired of their bitching? I know there is supposed to be some sort of swerve to this and I may be thinking too much about this but if you stop and think this angle with Sting is 10 months old now. There better be a hell of a payoff to this.

Matt O. – JARRETT AND JOE

Daniel B. – N/A

Anthony V. – Last year, Sting was in the main event for Bound for Glory. Last month, Dinero was featured in their last PPV. Years ago, Joe and Jarrett were World Champions for this company. Now? They are here. Oh well again I have to make a pick. I am going to go with JOE AND JARRETT because I think they need it more. Nash is on his way out possibly and Sting may follow (though he may also sign). I do feel bad for Dinero out of all this.

Jeff S. – NASH, STING, and POPE.

Mike T. – N/A

Enzo M. – I think TNA is going to pull a swerve and have Hulk Hogan join the match and HOGAN/JARRETT/JOE win OR Hogan comes out and screws over Jarrett/Joe and “They” are Hogan/Bischoff

Consensus: JOE AND JARRETT 9; Nash, Sting, and Pope 1.

Lethal Lockdown Match
Fortune (AJ Styles, Kazarian, Matt Morgan, Robert Roode, and James Storm)
Vs.
Team EV2.0 (Tommy Dreamer, Sabu, Rhino, Raven, and Stevie Richards)

David S. – FORTUNE

Josh B. – FORTUNE

Michael P. – EV 2.0

Grash – FORTUNE

Chad R. – FORTUNE

Jose M. – FORTUNE because most of the guys that compromise EV2 really can’t be sticking around.

Matt O. – FORTUNE

Daniel B. – N/A

Anthony V. – If EV 2.0 wins I will be disappointed. FORTUNE just formed and should be the focal faction in TNA. They should be the ones that are over. I think Flair and Foley will do some antics and there will be tons of blood. In the end, I think AJ does a low blow on Dreamer and potentially ends this feud with a Styles Clash on a chair.

Jeff S. – EV 2.0

Mike T. – N/A

Enzo M. – FORTUNE. Give the younger generation a push

Consensus: FORTUNE 8; EV 2.0 2.

Monster’s Ball Match
Abyss vs. Rob Van Dam

David S. – ABYSS

Josh B. – ABYSS

Michael P. – ABYSS via THEM.

Grash – ABYSS

Chad R. – ABYSS

Jose M. – RVD because he has to have a win going into the match next month for the title at Turning Point.

Matt O. – ABYSS

Daniel B. – N/A

Anthony V. – This is a tough one. Actually, I am picking ROB VAN DAM to return back to TNA triumphantly. Abyss is going nowhere anyway, and if Van Dam lost this could really hurt him on his quest as the TNA World Champion.

Jeff S. – ABYSS

Mike T. – N/A

Enzo M. – ABYSS, so they can continue story and he won’t get fired.

Consensus: ABYSS 8; Rob Van Dam 2.

Special Question (optional and does NOT count in the standings)
Abyss, who is “they”?

David S. – N/A (Dave may pick one later).

Josh B. – Bischoff, Jarrett, and Hogan.

Michael P. – Father James Mitchess, Judas Mescias, and The Guys from AAA Mexico.

Grash – N/A.

Chad R. – Eric Bischoff and Hulk Hogan

Jose M. – “They” is the cousin of the old WWE wrestler “Who” which happened to be a rib on Hulk Hogan. I expect a “What” and “Why” to debut soon also. Seriously does it really matter? It could be Hogan and Bischoff and that would probably suck after all this much hype and with no one on the free agent landscape to get excited about you really have to think it’s something that’s already in TNA. I will say this much I did find it interesting to see Vince Russo on TV a couple of weeks ago after not having been on TV in years. How come no one has accused him of being “They” yet?

Matt O. – Brutus Beefcake. He’s behind it all!

Daniel B. – N/A

Anthony V. – I know it may be disappointing to 99% of the TNA fans, but I am really hoping that it is James Mitchell. Abyss had his greatest moments under the management of Mitchell. However, after Thursday I think Eric Bischoff has something to do with this as well.

Jeff S. – N/A.

Mike T. – N/A

Enzo M. – You know i was thinking Hogan, Bischoff …but now that Mickie James is in TNA i am going to completely 100% out of the ballpark in this one and say “They” are former WWE wrestlers think about: Mickie James, Matt Hardy, Carlito Colon, Shelton Benjamin, and Charlie Haas
LEAD BY: Paul Heyman

***Championship Matches***

FOR THE TNA KNOCKOUT’S CHAMPIONSHIP
Four Corners Match (Mickie James is the special referee)
Angelina Love (c) vs. Velvet Sky vs. Madison Rayne vs. Tara

David S. – MADISON RAYNE

Josh B. – TARA.

Michael P. – LOVE.

Grash – MICKIE JAMES. I’m calling this a Screw Job.

Chad R. – ANGELINA LOVE

Jose M. – MADISON RAYNE because Mickie James referred to her as the champion in her promo on Reaction. That proved two things to me, the first being that Mickie doesn’t know a single TNA Knockout or follow the product and that she was probably told early on that she would be in a program with Madison coming in.

Matt O. – MADISON RAYNE

Daniel B. – N/A

Anthony V. – I think if Mickie James was not involved Love would retain. However, I think if any title will change hands (outside the World Title of course) it will be this title. I don’t think Love is retaining tonight. Tara is out as well (though a Mickie/Tara feud would be nice). That leaves us to Rayne and Sky. Honestly, I can see Sky blind-tagging Love and getting a pin over Rayne. So in my shocker, I am going to pick VELVET SKY to win her 1st Knockout’s Championship.

Jeff S. – RAYNE

Mike T. – N/A

Enzo M. – TARA winning and going into a feud with Mickie.

Consensus: MADISON RAYNE 4; Angelina Love 2; Tara 2; Velvet Sky 1; Mickie James 1.

FOR THE TNA WORLD TAG TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP
Motor City Machineguns (Alex Shelley and Chris Sabin) (c’s) vs. Generation Me (Max Buck and Jeremy Buck)

David S. – MOTOR CITY MACHINEGUNS

Josh B. – MACHINE GUNS

Michael P. – MCMG

Grash – GENERATION ME

Chad R. – MOTOR CITY MACHINEGUNS

Jose M. – MCMG. I know that the guns already beat Generation Me to set up this rematch and TNA books evenly but the guns has a lot of potential as champions and TNA should not be pulling the rug out from under them this soon.

Matt O. – GENERATION ME

Daniel B. – N/A

Anthony V. – If Generation Me does what they did in ROH on HDNet, this could be the match of the night. I think this match will shock many. It will be spotty, sure. But it will be swift and fast. It could tell a story as well. I don’t see GenMe as tag champs yet though. The edge will go to the MOTOR CITY MACHINEGUNS because Shelley is looking for revenge.

Jeff S. – MCMG

Mike T. – N/A

Enzo M. – MCMG

Consensus: MOTOR CITY MACHINEGUNS 8; Generation Me 2.

FOR THE TNA X DIVISION CHAMPIONSHIP
Jay Lethal (c) vs. Douglas Williams

David S. – JAY LETHAL

Josh B. – LETHAL

Michael P. – LETHAL.

Grash – DOUGLAS WILLIAMS

Chad R. – JAY LETHAL

Jose M. – JAY LETHAL wins because this match nor the X Division title has not been properly promoted to do the switch on PPV.

Matt O. – JAY LETHAL

Daniel B. – N/A

Anthony V. – 2I can’t believe this match got NO build-up on the go-home show. NONE! And that is a shame. The match features a couple of the best pound-for-pound wrestlers in the company today and I just wished they could have hyped this better (and not Shore). So, who wins this? I think JAY LETHAL gets the win. Williams does not need the title, but Lethal does.

Jeff S. – JAY LETHAL

Mike T. – N/A

Enzo M. – JAY LETHAL

Consensus: JAY LETHAL 9; Douglas Williams 1.

FOR THE VACANT TNA WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP
Mr. Anderson vs. Kurt Angle vs. Jeff Hardy

David S. – KURT ANGLE

Josh B. – KURT ANGLE

Michael P. – ANGLE via he isn’t freaking retiring yet!

Grash – ANGLE

Chad R. – KURT ANGLE

Jose M. – KURT ANGLE because he is not retiring.

Matt O. – KURT ANGLE

Daniel B. – N/A

Anthony V. – Jeff Hardy has no chance. Mr. Anderson, I could easily see the @sshole in him and pin one of the two to get the title. But if you are new to reading these selections, I never go against a hometown wrestler. Kurt Angle is from Pittsburgh. I am from Pittsburgh. KURT ANGLE will be the NEW TNA World Heavyweight Champion.

Jeff S. – MR. ANDERSON

Mike T. – N/A

Enzo M. – This is a tough one but Kurt Angle just signed a 1 year contract and stipulations say that if he loses he retires so KURT ANGLE to win the title.

Consensus: KURT ANGLE 9; Mr. Anderson 1; Jeff Hardy 0.
