Predictions from the Faculty
TNA Victory Road 2011 Edition

Predictions by: Wrestleview Columnists and Staff

Introduction

Welcome to the latest edition of “Predictions from the Faculty” (Season #3). This weekend, we gathered our thoughts for the upcoming WWE Pay-Per-View, as we will provide our selections for TNA’s Victory Road 2011. The show will be held in Orlando, Florida.

The card currently will have eight matches. More than likely, those are the only matches we will predict.

In case you are new to reading these predictions, here is the format. Each Pay-Per-View a few of the columnists on Wrestleview provide predictions on who they think will win the matches. We accumulate throughout the end of the Faculty’s year (in this case, the 2012 Royal Rumble).

What makes this entirely different to others is that you, the reader, can provide your picks for a spot to have yours posted in an upcoming PPV. All the readers have to do is either leave me a message on Facebook or e-mail at mistervwv@hotmail.com. The winner among the “Wrestleview Students” will win an opportunity to post their picks under the “Student of the Week” tab in the predictions standings (if they outright defeat the Students of the Week). We all thank you for your participation.

New: Tie-Breakers will determine standings!

I have decided to prevent some tiebreakers, I will issue points to Title Matches that are predicted correctly. There are three championship matches on the card, so the maximum amount of points to go along with the win/loss standing will be three points. Also, if I throw out a pick for a championship, then obviously no bonus will be counted for that particular match.

But what, to the Wrestleview “students”, there is more!

I got approval for this decision, and for the FIRST time in our three seasons the students will compete for PRIZES!!! That is right, we felt that your loyalty to the article shall be rewarded. However, the prizes will not be handed out until the FINAL PPV Prediction of the season (which will be WWE’s Royal Rumble 2012). So not only will one get a chance to earn a Gold Star and be a part of this game, but it will be for a competition.

The Prizes will vary, but here is what the winners will receive.

The first place Student will receive a DVD. Don’t know what the DVD will be, but it will either be a WWE, TNA, or ROH DVD.

The second place Student will receive a T-Shirt. Again, don’t know what the shirt will look like but I am sure it is something one will cherish for being a runner-up in predicting wrestling matches.

The third place Student will win a coffee mug. As one knows, coffee keeps many teachers alert and awake. Consider this prize one step closer into feeling like a “teacher” (but if you are a teacher, then add this prize to your collection of coffee mugs and/or thermos).

Also, the will be a prize for the Student that finishes in Dead Last (aka the most losses throughout the year). For your luck, the “winner” will receive a Used Copy of the 2009 TNA Victory Road DVD. When used, it was only in a DVD player once, as it was declared “The Worst PPV of 2009”. And who could argue with such a great contest as Jenna Morasca vs. Sharmell?

The Wrestleview Staff Standings

Well, we got our second “Dean of the Third Season” in as many PPVs. Thanks to a perfect record, Mike Tedesco is our new leader. Defending champion Dave Stephens is holding still in the top five, two wins behind Mr. Tedesco.

2011-2012 Predictions From the Faculty Roster

1) Mike Tedesco (WWE Smackdown and WWE Superstar Recaps)……….10-2 (5-0)
2) Greg McNeish (The Velvet Room)……………………………………………………..9-3 (3-2)
3) Josh Boutwell (TNA Impact Recaps/Viva La Raza)……………………………9-3 (5-0)
4) Matt O’Brien (Notes from the Nosebleeds)…………………………………………9-3 (5-0)
5) Dave Stephens (Raw Recaps/That’s a Wrap/Teachers Lounge)……….8-4 (4-1)
6) Ryan Rivera (ROH on HDNet Recaps)…………………………………………………8-4 (4-1)
7) Nicholas Gray (The Velvet Room)……………………………………………………….8-4 (4-1)
8) Evan O’Brien (WV International Desk)………………………………………………..8-4 (4-1)
9) Wrestleview Students (The Readers of the article)……………………………..8-4 (4-1)
10) Jose Marrero (Wrestling Rumblings/The Eye Gouge)………………………….7-5 (4-1)
11) Anthony Valvo (From the Desk of Mr. V/Teacher’s Lounge)……………….7-5 (5-0)
12) Clinton Bowman (The Velvet Room)……………………………………………………6-6 (4-1)
13) Gregory “Grash” Walek (WWE NXT Recapper)……………………………………..6-6 (3-2)
14) Darraugh O’Connor (WV International Desk)……………………………………..3-4 (N/A)

Dave Stephens provided picks for 5 out of the 8 matches on The Teacher’s Lounge. If he sends them later, I will add them to the score.

Mike Tedesco as of press time did not send picks. If he does, I will add them to the score.

Tie-Breaker Points – Which are based on Championship matches correct (out of a possible five points)

5: Mike Tedesco
3: Josh Boutwell; Matt O’Brien; Nicholas Gray; Anthony Valvo
2: Greg McNeish; Dave Stephens; Ryan Rivera; Evan O’Brien; Jose Marrero; and Clinton Bowman.
1: Gregory Walek.
0: Darraugh O’Connor.

And of course, the WV Students average will be part of the standings. I have taken out the “Students of the Week” for this season. However, do not worry. Those that scored the highest will still be welcomed to participate in an upcoming article.

We have a record Fourteen Students of the Week. Since I do not want to make this a very extensive article, I broke it down to two parts. The first part will be just the Wrestleview Staff. The second part will be all the Wrestleview Students of the Week.

The Best of the Class (Top 3 earn a prize. Tie-Breaker Points in parentheses)

Prizes:

1st Place – A DVD Set of our choosing.
2nd Place – A T-Shirt
3rd Place – A Coffee Mug
Worst – TNA Victory Road 2009 DVD.

(W/L from Elimination Chamber is in first parentheses)
(Tiebreaker Points are in second)

1) Brandon Ewing………………………………………………10-2 (5-0) (4) – Currently 1st
2) Paul Meade……………………………………………………10-2 (5-0) (3) – Currently 2nd
3) Michael Fox……………………………………………………10-2 (5-0) (3) – Currently 2nd
4) Frank McMahen……………………………………………..9-3 (5-0) (4) – Currently 3rd
5) VKingoftheWorldV………………………………………….9-3 (5-0) (4) – Currently 3rd

We have four others at 9-3, but have three tiebreaker points. We have over 10 with an 8-4 score.

The worst record currently is 6-6, and that is shared by two students.

I will let the ones that scores the Worst know via e-mail. I don’t want to embarrass the students.

Also to those that have participated in both PPVs, keep it up. This by all means is nowhere close to being over! Don’t give up!

Predictions for TNA’s Victory Road 2011

*** NON-CHAMPIONSHIP MATCHES ***

First Blood Match
Matt Morgan vs. Hernandez

Dave S. – HERNANDEZ.

Mike T. – HERNANDEZ.

Greg M. – HERNANDEZ.

Josh B. – HERNANDEZ.

Matt O. – MORGAN.

Ryan R. – HERNANDEZ.

Nick G. – MATT MORGAN.

Evan O. – MATT MORGAN.

Jose M. – HERNANDEZ.

Anthony V. – This match will go to HERNANDEZ. Morgan may give Super Mex a fight, but Hernandez will be the one to bust Morgan’s head open.

Clinton B. – MORGAN.

Greg W. – HERNANDEZ.

Darraugh O. – MATT MORGAN.

PROJECTED WINNER: HERNANDEZ 8-5. The Wrestleview Staff were almost split in this contest. In the end, the majority believes that Super Mex will make Morgan bleed first.

Singles Match
Bully Ray vs. Tommy Dreamer

Dave S. – BULLY RAY.

Mike T. – BULLY RAY.

Greg M. – BULLY~!

Josh B. – RAY.

Matt O. – RAY.

Ryan R. – BULLY RAY.

Nick G. – BULLAY!

Evan O. – BULLY RAY.

Jose M. – BULLY RAY.

Anthony V. – This is going to BULLY RAY. Dreamer may be the best opponent for Bully. However, in the end Dreamer will do the job to someone Bully!

Clinton B. – BULLY RAY.

Greg W. – BULLY RAY.

Darraugh O. – TOMMY DREAMER.

PROJECTED WINNER: BULLY RAY 12-1. The staff almost went with a unanimous vote, as all but one felt “Bully” enough to choose Ray over Dreamer.

Winner earns the #1 Contender spot for the TNA World Championship
Mr. Anderson vs. Rob Van Dam

Dave S. – N/A.

Mike T. – MR. ANDERSON.

Greg M. – ANDERSON.

Josh B. – ANDERSON.

Matt O. – ANDERSON.

Ryan R. – ANDERSON, ANDERSON.

Nick G. – KEN KENNDERSON.

Evan O. – ROB VAN DAM.

Jose M. – MR. ANDERSON.

Anthony V. – As much as I would want Van Dam to win this match, I think they are building MR. ANDERSON for the long run. Anderson is a guy that can go face to heel in a snap. Besides, Anderson would be better for TNA in this match.

Clinton B. – ANDERSON.

Greg W. – ROB VAN DAM.

Darraugh O. – MR. ANDERSON.

PROJECTED WINNER: MR. ANDERSON 10-2. Rob Van Dam may have a reason to earn a championship match, but the Staff believes when the bell ends this contest the winner will truly be an a$$hole…..a$$hole.

Singles Match
AJ Styles vs. Matt Hardy

Dave S. – N/A.

Mike T. – AJ STYLES.

Greg M. – STYLES.

Josh B. – AJ.

Matt O. – STYLES.

Ryan R. – STYLES.

Nick G. – AJ.

Evan O. – MATT HARDY.

Jose M. – AJ STYLES.

Anthony V. – I think Matt Hardy will win, but I will NEVER pick Matt Hardy to win. If AJ STYLES gets a fair, one-on-one bout without Ric Flair interfering it will be a total no-brainer based on what has been happening on Impact.

Clinton B. – STYLES.

Greg W. – MATT HARDY.

Darraugh O. – AJ STYLES.

PROJECTED WINNER: AJ STYLES 10-2. The majority easily went with The Phenomenal One. While Matt Hardy earned a couple votes, we expect that AJ Styles will get his revenge from last Thursday’s Impact.

*** Championship Matches ***

Tag Team Match for the TNA Knockouts Tag Team Championship
Angelina Love and Winter (c’s) vs. Sarita and Rosita

Dave S. – SARITA AND ROSITA

Mike T. – SARITA AND ROSITA.

Greg M. – LOVE AND WINTER.

Josh B. – TEAM EL CALIENTE (SARITA AND ROSITA)

Matt O. – LOVE AND WINTER.

Ryan R. – SARITA AND ROSITA.

Nick G. – SARITA AND THE OTHER ONE.

Evan O. – ANGELINA LOVE AND WINTER.

Jose M. – SARITA AND ROSITA.

Anthony V. – I think this is a very easy prediction. Winter and Velvet Sky are fighting for Love’s affection in a way. Sky has it “up to here” with Winter and I think she will cost Winter and her best friend in the contest. SARITA AND ROSITA seizes the moment and wins the tag titles.

Clinton B. – LOVE/WINTER.

Greg W. – SARITA AND ROSITA.

Darraugh O. – ANGELINA LOVE AND WINTER.

PROJECTED WINNER: SARITA AND ROSITA 8-5. The staff believes that Angelina Love will be the victim of this rivalry going on between Winter and Sky. In the end, expect new tag team champions, with “El Caliente” winning the titles.

Tag Team Match for the TNA World Tag Team Championship
Beer Money, Inc. (James Storm and Robert Roode) (c’s) vs. Ink Inc. (Shannon Moore and Jesse Neal)

Dave S. – BEER MONEY.

Mike T. – INK INC.

Greg M. – INK INC.

Josh B. – BEER MONEY.

Matt O. – BEER MONEY.

Ryan R. – BEER MONEY.

Nick G. – BEER! MONEY!

Evan O. – BEER MONEY.

Jose M. – BEER MONEY.

Anthony V. – It will be BEER MONEY, and I don’t think I need to explain.

Clinton B. – BEER MONEY.

Greg W. – BEER MONEY, INC.

Darraugh O. – BEER MONEY.

PROJECTED WINNER: BEER MONEY 11-2. Only two men will have faith that Shannon Moore and Jesse Neal can win the titles, but the vast majority of the Staff chose the champions to retain.

Ultimate X Match for the TNA X Division Championship
Kazarian (c) vs. Max Buck vs. Jeremy Buck vs. Robbie E.

Dave S. – KAZARIAN.

Mike T. – KAZARIAN.

Greg M. – MAX BUCK.

Josh B. – KAZARIAN.

Matt O. – KAZARIAN.

Ryan R. – KAZARIAN will retain.

Nick G. – ROBBIE.

Evan O. – KAZARIAN.

Jose M. – ROBBIE E.

Anthony V. – Both Bucks are out of the equation, but I am sure they will amaze with a couple high risk maneuvers. I can see Cookie and Traci Brooks getting involved near the end of the match, so I will go 50/50 with either Robbie E or Kazarian. However, I will give a slight edge to KAZARIAN to retain the championship.

Clinton B. – KAZARIAN.

Greg W. – KAZARIAN.

Darraugh O. – KAZARIAN.

PROJECTED WINNER: KAZARIAN is the projected winner. With 10 members choosing the champion to retain, it made sense that the champion will retain in one of the most difficult matches to execute. However, the staff has faith in Robbie E. (2 votes) and Max Buck (1 vote), no we have no faith in Jeremy Buck.

Singles Match for the TNA World Heavyweight Championship
Sting (c) vs. Jeff Hardy

Dave S. – N/A.

Mike T. – STING.

Greg M. – STING.

Josh B. – STINGER.

Matt O. – JEFF HARDY.

Ryan R. – STING.

Nick G. – DUH STINGAH.

Evan O. – STING.

Jose M. – STING.

Anthony V. – Since I have Mr. Anderson winning the #1 Contender Spot I will say that STING retains, though I am not completely certain. Now if Rob Van Dam wins his match, I will worry about my record.

Clinton B. – STING.

Greg W. – STING.

Darraugh O. – JEFF HARDY.

PROJECTED WINNER: STING 10-2. Look, Sting came back and won the title a couple weeks ago on TNA programming. We doubt that Sting will drop the title this early in this latest run. However, don’t be surprised that Jeff Hardy gets help from his Immortal stable to “earn” his title back.
