Predictions from the Faculty
TNA Sacrifice 2011 PPV
May 15, 2011
Predictions by: Wrestleview Columnists and Staff
Written by: Anthony J. Valvo of Wrestleview.com
Introduction
Welcome to the latest edition of “Predictions from the Faculty” (Season #3). This weekend, we gathered our thoughts for the upcoming TNA Pay-Per-View, as we will provide our selections for TNA Sacrifice 2011. The show will be held in Orlando, FL.
The card currently will have nine matches. As of now, I am not expecting to make any changes.
In case you are new to reading these predictions, here is the format. Each Pay-Per-View a few of the columnists on WrestleView provide predictions on who they think will win the matches. We accumulate throughout the end of the Faculty’s year (in this case, the 2012 Royal Rumble).
What makes this entirely different to others is that you, the reader, can provide your picks for a spot to have yours posted in an upcoming PPV. All the readers have to do is either leave me a message on Facebook or e-mail at mistervwv@hotmail.com. The winner among the “WrestleView Students” will win an opportunity to post their picks under the “Student of the Week” tab in the predictions standings (if they outright defeat the Students of the Week). We all thank you for your participation.
New: Tie-Breakers will determine standings!
I have decided to prevent some tiebreakers, I will issue points to Title Matches that are predicted correctly. There are two championship matches on the card, so the maximum amount of points to go along with the win/loss standing will be two points. Also, if I throw out a pick for a championship, then obviously no bonus will be counted for that particular match.
But what, to the WrestleView “students”, there is more!
I got approval for this decision, and for the FIRST time in our three seasons the students will compete for PRIZES!!! That is right; we felt that your loyalty to the article shall be rewarded. However, the prizes will not be handed out until the FINAL PPV Prediction of the season (which will be WWE’s Royal Rumble 2012). So not only will one get a chance to earn a Gold Star and be a part of this game, but it will be for a competition.
The Wrestleview Staff Standings

Tie-Breaker Points – Which are based on Championship matches correct
11: Mike Tedesco
10: Josh Boutwell
9: Dave Stephens; Ryan Rivera; Nicholas Gray; Anthony Valvo; Gregory Walek; Clinton Bowman
8: Evan O’Brien
7: Jose Marrero; Greg McNeish
6: Matt O’Brien
5: Darraugh O’Connor
And of course, the WV Students average will be part of the standings. I have taken out the “Students of the Week” for this season. However, do not worry. Those that scored the highest will still be welcomed to participate in an upcoming article.
This weekend, our Students of the Week will be Ricky Langston, Paul Meade, Goose Oberstar, and Michael Fox. All four posted a 4-1 record on the Extreme Rules PPV (the only incorrect was the fact that Cole won once again).
The Best of the Class (Top 3 earn a prize. Tie-Breaker Points in parentheses)
Prizes:
1st Place – A DVD Set of our choosing.
2nd Place – A T-Shirt
3rd Place – A Coffee Mug
Worst – TNA Victory Road 2009 (or 2011) DVD.
(W/L from WWE’s Extreme Rules is in first parentheses)
(Tiebreaker Points are in second)
1) Paul Meade……………………………………………………29-12 (5-1) (10) – Tie for #1
2) Brandon Ewing………………………………………………29-12 (4-2) (10) – Tie for #1
3) Michael Fox……………………………………………………28-13 (5-1) (10) – Tie for #2
4) Jason Namako…………………………………………………28-13 (4-2) (10) – Tie for #2
5) Paul Smith………………………………………………………..27-14 (4-2) (9) – #3
There are so many still in contention, so if you would like to know your standing send me an e-mail and I will be more than happy to let you know where you stand.
One WrestleView Student is in sole position of the basement (aka last place and most incorrect predictions). The “Student” was informed of this. The worse record stands at 16-18 (tie-breaker is the most losses in the fewest picks).
Also to those that have participated in all PPVs, keep it up. This by all means is nowhere close to being over! Don’t give up!
And now, the moment you all have been waiting for…
Predictions for TNA’s Sacrifice PPV
*** NON-CHAMPIONSHIP MATCHES ***
Singles Match
Robbie E. vs. Brian Kendrick
Dave S. – ROBBIE E.
Mike T. – ROBBIE E.
Josh B. – KENDRICK.
Nicholas G. – KENDRICK.
Ryan R. – ROBBIE E.
Gregory W. – ROBBIE E.
Jose M. – KENDRICK.
Anthony V. – BRIAN KENDRICK. He is the leader of the X-Division Revolution against Eric Bischoff and I think it would make sense that Kendrick goes over. Robbie E is pretty much out of his element, but expect him to bump splendidly.
Evan O. – ROBBIE E.
Greg M. – ROBBIE E.
Matt O. – ROBBIE E.
Clinton B. – ROBBIE E.
Darragh O. – ROBBIE E.
Ricky L. – ROBBIE E over Kendrick.
Paul M. – KENDRICK def. Robbie E.
Goose O. – ROBBIE E over Kendrick.
Michael F. – KENDRICK.
CONSENSUS: ROBBIE E. Though there is no buildup between the two individuals in this match and with no story prior to this it was a tough pick for the staff. In the end, Robbie E. got the most votes because TNA has done more with him overall the past few months.
ROBBIE E. 11; Brian Kendrick 6.
Singles Match
Tommy Dreamer vs. AJ Styles
Dave S. – STYLES.
Mike T. – TOMMY DREAMER.
Josh B. – AJ.
Nicholas G. – AJ.
Ryan R. – STYLES.
Gregory W. – AJ STYLES.
Jose M. – TOMMY DREAMER.
Anthony V. – AJ STYLES. The logical pick is AJ because he is a leader of the top face faction on TNA while Dreamer is just doing scrub work for Immortal. I am not completely sold on the pick, but I doubt Immortal will run in to help Dreamer.
Evan O. – AJ STYLES.
Greg M. – AJ STYLES.
Matt O. – STYLES.
Clinton B. – STYLES.
Darragh O. – AJ STYLES.
Ricky L. – STYLES over Dreamer.
Paul M. – AJ def. Dreamer
Goose O. – DREAMER over Styles.
Michael F. – AJ STYLES.
CONSENSUS: STYLES. A few are going outside the box and predicting Dreamer to win, but the vast majority are going with the leader of Fortune to win this match.
AJ STYLES 14; Tommy Dreamer 3.
Tag Team Match
Mexican America (Hernandez and Anarquia) vs. Ink Inc. (Jesse Neal and Shannon Moore)
Dave S. – MEXICAN AMERICA.
Mike T. – INK INC.
Josh B. – INK, INC.
Nicholas G. – MEXICAN AMERICA.
Ryan R. – MEXICAN AMERICA.
Gregory W. – MEXICAN AMERICA.
Jose M. – MEXICAN AMERICA.
Anthony V. – MEX-AM. I am a big fan of Hernandez and it looks like they are really giving that faction the ball in the mid-card level. Also, isn’t Ink Inc. in turmoil? Didn’t they tease a split up? If so, Mexican America gets the win.
Evan O. – INK INC.
Greg M. – MEXICAN AMERICA.
Matt O. – MEXICAN AMERICA.
Clinton B. – MEXICAN AMERICA.
Darragh O. – MEXICAN AMERICA.
Ricky L. – LAX JR. (MEXICAN AMERICA)
Paul M. – INK INC. def. Mexican America.
Goose O. – MEXICAN AMERICA over Ink Inc.
Michael F. – MEXICAN AMERICA.
CONSENSUS: MEXICAN AMERICA. Ink Inc. have been on a brief run after chasing away Mexican America members for disrespecting the US, but it appears that the majority of the staff are going with the latest faction in TNA Wrestling.
MEXICAN AMERICA 13; Ink Inc. 4.
Singles Match
Abyss vs. Crimson
Dave S. – CRIMSON.
Mike T. – CRIMSON.
Josh B. – CRIMSON.
Nicholas G. – CRIMSON.
Ryan R. – ABYSS.
Gregory W. – ABYSS.
Jose M. – CRIMSON.
Anthony V. – CRIMSON. I may be wrong, but I watched videos about how Crimson never officially lost a match in TNA yet. He is feuding with another guy soon who had a long unbeaten streak in Samoa Joe. Abyss is going for revenge, but Crimson finds a way.
Evan O. – ABYSS.
Greg M. – ABYSS. What’s a crimson?
Matt O. – CRIMSON.
Clinton B. – ABYSS.
Darragh O. – ABYSS.
Ricky L. – ABYSS over Crimson.
Paul M. – CRIMSON def. Abyss.
Goose O. – CRIMSON over Abyss.
Michael F. – CRIMSON.
CONSENSUS: CRIMSON. It was a near push, but I think the slight majority are going with Crimson because of his recent winning streak and how the company is really investing time in the new character.
CRIMSON 10; Abyss 7.
Tag Team Match
Jeff Jarrett and Karen Jarrett vs. Kurt Angle and Chyna
Dave S. – KURT ANGLE AND CHYNA.
Mike T. – KURT ANGLE AND CHYNA.
Josh B. – ANGLE & CHYNA.
Nicholas G. – ANGLE/CHYNA.
Ryan R. – KURT AND CHYNA.
Gregory W. – ANGLE & CHYNA.
Jose M. – ANGLE AND CHYNA.
Anthony V. – ANGLE AND CHYNA. I don’t want Chyna in wrestling, ever. But this storyline did get a bit better by adding another variable. I think Angle will finally get a victory over Jarrett because it seems like Angle has been chasing for about four or five months.
Evan O. – KURT ANGLE AND CHYNA.
Greg M. – KURT ANGLE & CHYNA.
Matt O. – ANGLE AND CHYNA.
Clinton B. – TEAM KURTIE KURT KOCKTAILZ
Darragh O. – KURT ANGLE AND CHYNA.
Ricky L. – KURT ANGLE AND CHYNA over The Jarretts
Paul M. – ANGLE & CHYNA def. The Jarretts.
Goose O. – KURT ANGLE AND CHYNA over the Jarrett’s
Michael F. – ANGLE AND CHYNA.
CONSENSUS: ANGLE and CHYNA. In an undisputed vote, the staff overwhelmingly chose Angle to earn his first victory in the feud with Jeff Jarrett. The more difficult pick would be if Karen Jarrett (or Angle) would wrestle? Will the staff be right or wrong? We will find out tonight.
KURT ANGLE AND CHYNA 17; Jeff and Karen Jarrett 0.
*** CHAMPIONSHIP MATCHES ***
Singles Match for the TNA Knockout’s Championship
Extra stipulation: If Mickie James retains the championship, Madison Rayne’s associate, Tara, will be free to wrestle in TNA.
Mickie James (c) vs. Madison Rayne
Dave S. – MICKIE JAMES.
Mike T. – MICKIE JAMES.
Josh B. – MICKIE.
Nicholas G. – MICKIE.
Ryan R. – MICKIE JAMES.
Gregory W. – MADISON via DQ.
Jose M. – MICKIE JAMES.
Anthony V. – MICKIE JAMES. They teased the breakup of Tara and Rayne for months and I think their partnership ends now. Plus, James does need a longer run with the title after chasing for the majority of the year.
Evan O. – MICKIE JAMES.
Greg M. – MICKIE JAMES.
Matt O. – RAYNE.
Clinton B. – MICKIE “I No-Sell Near Death” JAMES.
Darragh O. – MICKIE JAMES.
Ricky L. – MICKIE over Madison.
Paul M. – JAMES def. Rayne.
Goose O. – MICKIE JAMES over Madison Rayne.
Michael F. – MICKIE JAMES.
CONSENSUS: MICKIE JAMES. If we are correct, and usually the WV Staff holds a winning record in these games, then Tara will be free from Madison Rayne’s control. Look for the Knockout’s Championship to stay around the waist of Mickie James.
MICKIE JAMES 15; Madison Rayne 2.
Tag Team Match for the TNA World Tag Team Championship
Beer Money, Inc. (c’s) vs. Matt Hardy and Chris Harris
Dave S. – MATT HARDY AND CHRIS HARRIS.
Mike T. – BEER MONEY.
Josh B. – BEER MONEY.
Nicholas G. – BEER MONEY.
Ryan R. – BEER MONEY.
Gregory W. – BEER MONEY.
Jose M. – BEER MONEY.
Anthony V. – BEER MONEY. I won’t be surprised if they make the title change so we can possibly see a Robert Roode singles push (which would be deserved). However, I don’t think you just hand a tag title to a guy who hasn’t been seen since being Braden Walker.
Evan O. – MATT HARDY AND CHRIS HARRIS.
Greg M. – BEER MONEY, INC.
Matt O. – HARDY AND HARRIS.
Clinton B. – FATT HARDY AND BRADEN WALKER.
Darragh O. – BEER MONEY, INC.
Ricky L. – HARDY AND HARRIS over Beer Money.
Paul M. – HARDY AND HARRIS def. Beer Money (I can see AMW reuniting here.)
Goose O. – BEER MONEY over Hardy and Harris.
Michael F. – BEER MONEY.
CONSENSUS: BEER MONEY. The vote was close, as many think that Matt Hardy and the returning Chris Harris have a shot because of their Immortal ties. However, one of the best tag teams in pro wrestling happens to be Beer Money, and most chose to go with the champs to retain the Tag Titles.
BEER MONEY, INC 11; Matt Hardy and Chris Harris 6.
Singles Match for the TNA X Division Championship
Kazarian (c) vs. Max Buck
Dave S. – KAZARIAN.
Mike T. – MAX BUCK.
Josh B. – KAZARIAN.
Nicholas G. – KAZ.
Ryan R. – KAZARIAN.
Gregory W. – KAZARIAN.
Jose M. – KAZARIAN.
Anthony V. – MAX BUCK. Yes, I went there. I will be 100% wrong on this pick, but I really don’t care. My logic is that Buck will be all about him (or is he in the X Revolution from a couple weeks ago, I don’t know) and Kazarian does not really need the title to keep his status. A title win for Buck would really boost his stock with the company.
Evan O. – KAZARIAN.
Greg M. – MAX BUCK.
Matt O. – KAZARIAN.
Clinton B. – KAZARIAN.
Darragh O. – KAZARIAN.
Ricky L. – KAZ over Max Buck.
Paul M. – BUCK def. Kazarian.
Goose O. – KAZARIAN over Max Buck.
Michael F. – KAZARIAN.
CONSENSUS: KAZARIAN. It seems like the staff is going with Fortune all the way on this PPV. While some chose Max Buck as the new TNA X Division Champion, the staff mainly predicted another Fortune member as the winner of the match.
KAZARIAN 13; Max Buck 4.
Singles Match for the TNA World Heavywieght Championship
Sting (c) vs. Rob Van Dam
Dave S. – STING.
Mike T. – STING.
Josh B. – STING.
Nicholas G. – STING.
Ryan R. – STING.
Gregory W. – STING.
Jose M. – STING.
Anthony V. – STING. The Network angle is nowhere close to being over and Sting is the title holder. Simple logic, the champ retains.
Evan O. – STING.
Greg M. – STING.
Matt O. – STING.
Clinton B. – OLD MAN STINGY.
Darragh O. – STING.
Ricky L. – STING over RVD.
Paul M. – STING def. RVD.
Goose O. – STING over Rob Van Dam.
Michael F. – STING.
CONSENSUS: STING. It was not even a doubt. I don’t have a total count, but it seems like the unanimous prediction always happens in a TNA World Title match. Anyways, expect Sting to retain the championship at Sacrifice.
STING 17; Rob Van Dam 0.
