Predictions from the Faculty
TNA Final Resolution PPV
December 11, 2011
Predictions by: Wrestleview Columnists and Staff
Written by: Anthony J. Valvo of Wrestleview.com
Introduction
Welcome to the latest edition of “Predictions from the Faculty” (Season #3). This weekend, we gathered our thoughts for the upcoming TNA Pay-Per-View, as we will provide our selections for Final Resolution. The show will be held in The Impact Zone in Orlando, FL.
The card is currently booked to have eight matches.
In case you are new to reading these predictions, here is the format. Each Pay-Per-View a few of the columnists on Wrestleview provide predictions on who they think will win the matches. We accumulate the records throughout the end of the Faculty’s year (in this case, the 2012 Royal Rumble).
What makes this entirely different to others is that you, the reader, can provide your picks for a spot to have yours posted in an upcoming PPV. All the readers have to do is either leave me a message on Facebook or e-mail at mistervwv@hotmail.com. The winner among the “Wrestleview Students” will win an opportunity to post their picks as a “Student of the Week” (if they outright defeat the reigning Students of the Week). We all thank you for your participation.
Tie-Breakers will determine standings!
I have decided to prevent some tiebreakers, I will issue points to Title Matches that are predicted correctly. There will be five championship matches on the card, so the maximum amount of points to go along with the win/loss standing will be FIVE points. Also, if I throw out a pick for a championship, then obviously no bonus will be counted for that particular match.
But what, to the Wrestleview “students”, there is more!
I got approval for this decision, and for the FIRST time in our three seasons the students will compete for PRIZES!!! That is right; we felt that your loyalty to the article shall be rewarded. However, the prizes* will not be handed out until the FINAL PPV Prediction of the season (which will be WWE’s Royal Rumble 2012). So not only will one get a chance to earn a Gold Star and be a part of this game, but it will be for a competition.
*Prizes go out to the top three (the most picked correctly and if needed tiebreaker points) positions and the worst (most matches picked incorrectly with the fewest tiebreaker points).
Current Standings (As of WWE Survivor Series)
1) Jose Marrero (Wrestling Rumblings/The Eye Gouge)……………97-52 (4-2)
2) Ryan Rivera (ROH on HDNet Recapper)…………………………..93-57 (4-2)

10) Josh Boutwell (Impact Recaps/LL USA Recaps/Viva La Raza)…….85-59 (3-3)
11) Darragh O’Connor (WV International Desk)……………………..82-50 (4-2)

Tie-Breaker Points – Which are based on Championship matches correct
48: Jose Marrero; Mike Tedesco
46: Gregory Walek
45: Ryan Rivera
44: Dave Stephens; Jason Namako; Anthony Valvo
43: Josh Boutwell
41: Nicholas Gray; Greg McNeish
40: Evan O’Brien
37: Darragh O’Connor
36: Matt O’Brien
The Student of the Week for TNA Final Resolution will be Joe Devine. We was the only Wrestleview Reader to go undefeated in the Survivor Series picks and earned the title.
The Best of the Class (Top 3 earn a prize. Tie-Breaker Points in parentheses)
Prizes:
1st Place – A DVD Set of our choosing (max 3 disc set).
2nd Place – A T-Shirt
3rd Place – A Coffee Mug
Worst – TNA Victory Road 2009 (or 2011) DVD.
The Wrestleview Reader Leaderboard
I will just type out the top readers at this time. The first set of parentheses is the W/L record for WWE’s Hell in a Cell. The second parentheses are the Tie-Breaker points.
1) Jordan Benterman…………………………………………..98-52 (4-2) (48) – #1
2) Brian Czygan……………………………………………………95-55 (5-1) (49) – #2
3) Wade Bradford………………………………………………..94-56 (4-2) (45) – #3
4) Michael Fox……………………………………………………92-58 (4-2) (43)
5) Sam Newstone……………………………………………….91-59 (3-3) (50)
6) Paul Meade……………………………………………………..89-61 (5-1) (43)
The person with the most picks incorrect is currently 57-78 with 29 tiebreaker points. Therefore, I deem that score the worst.
Also to those that have participated in all the previous PPVs, keep it up. Though there are only three PPVs left you can still be a Student of the Week sometime this year.
As of Press Time, Gregory “Grash” Walek and Mike Tedesco have yet to offer predictions. If either one e-mails me their selections, I will place them in the comments section of this piece.
And now, the moment you all have been waiting for…
Predictions for TNA Final Resolution
*** NON-TITLE MATCHES ***
Singles Match
Christopher Daniels vs. Rob Van Dam
Jose M. – CHRISTOPHER DANIELS I don’t know why I am going with this since I can’t remember the last time he won a match on PPV but he is long overdue for some sort of PPV win.
Ryan R. – RVD.
Gregory W. – N/A.
Dave S. – DANIELS.
Mike T. – N/A.
Jason N. – CHRISTOPHER DANIELS.
Anthony V. – DANIELS. It’s not a reason to want this show, because the story is stagnant. However, Daniels will get the win and even his score with RVD.
Nicholas G. – RVD.
Josh B. – RVD.
Darragh O. – RVD.
Greg M. – CHRISTOPHER DANIELS.
Evan O. – ROB VAN DAM.
Matt O. – ROB VAN DAM.
Joe D. – Really no idea here, I’ll go for CHRISTOPHER DANIELS though.
CONSENSUS: PUSH. There are rumors that this match will kick off the show, and this was easily the most difficult match to predict, with six votes to each participant.
Daniels and Van Dam each with 6.
Singles Match
James Storm vs. Kurt Angle
Jose M. – JAMES STORM since he has to be built up as a challenger for Bobby Roode although with TNA’s booking Kurt Angle winning wouldn’t surprise me either to keep the program going another month.
Ryan R. – STORM.
Gregory W. – N/A.
Dave S. – ANGLE.
Mike T. – N/A.
Jason N. – KURT ANGLE.
Anthony V. – ANGLE. I rarely bet against a fellow Pittsburgh resident, but there is an actual reason. Storm is booked as “not 100%”, and I think Angle will find a cheap way to win.
Nicholas G. – STORM.
Josh B. – STORM.
Darragh O. – JAMES STORM.
Greg M. – JAMES STORM.
Evan O. – JAMES STORM.
Matt O. – JAMES STORM.
Joe D. – I’m not a big follower of TNA so most of these picks are guesswork, but I’m going with KURT ANGLE for this one.
CONSENSUS: STORM. This was another difficult match to pick among the staff. Angle may have struck first, but in this battle the majority goes to “The Cowboy”.
STORM 8; Angle 4.
Steel Cage Match w/Stipulations
Jeff Hardy vs. Jeff Jarrett
Stipulations: If Hardy wins, he will be the #1 Contender for the TNA World Championship and (per Tweet by Dixie Carter) either Jeff Jarrett or Karen Jarrett leaves.
If Jarrett wins, Hardy is fired from TNA.
Jose M. – JEFF HARDY I hate these stip matches. Especially with the new stip of either Karen or Jeff being fired from TNA. Karen is the Knockouts VP so I can’t see her getting fired in storyline and didn’t we just have a storyline not all that long ago where Jeff wasn’t even supposed to be in the country and all of a sudden he came back with no explanation?
Ryan R. – HARDY.
Gregory W. – N/A.
Dave S. – HARDY.
Mike T. – N/A.
Jason N. – JEFF HARDY.
Anthony V. – J. HARDY. TNA did not fire him after Victory Road, and they won’t fire him at this show. As for which Jarrett gets canned? I hope it is not Jeff.
Nicholas G. – “JEFF”.
Josh B. – HARDY.
Darragh O. – HARDY.
Greg M. – JEFF HARDY.
Evan O. – JEFF HARDY.
Matt O. – JEFF JARRETT.
Joe D. – JEFF HARDY.
CONSENSUS: HARDY. In the end of the “Jeff” feud, the staff predicts that the one that ends in Hardy will overcome his demons and be in the world title fold once again.
HARDY 10; Jarrett 1; “Jeff” 1.
*** CHAMPIONSHIP MATCHES ***
Singles Match for the TNA Knockout’s Championship
Gail Kim (c) vs. Mickie James
Jose M. – GAIL KIM again the Karen Jarrett storyline should continue a bit longer.
Ryan R. – GAIL KIM.
Gregory W. – N/A.
Dave S. – KIM.
Mike T. – N/A.
Jason N. – GAIL KIM.
Anthony V. – KIM. This match scares me in a way. James has been very careless as of late, while Kim is their face of the division. I think the champ retains.
Nicholas G. – GAIL.
Josh B. – GAIL.
Darragh O. – MICKIE JAMES.
Greg M. – GAIL KIM.
Evan O. – GAIL KIM.
Matt O. – GAIL KIM.
Joe D. – GAIL KIM.
CONSENSUS: KIM. Gail Kim went from being an afterthought in the WWE over the summer to being the champion in TNA at the end of 2011. The trend will continue according to the majority of the Wrestleview Staff.
Kim 11; James 1.
Singles Match for the TNA Television Championship
Robbie E. (c) vs. Eric Young
Jose M. – ROBBIE E. He did just win the title after all.
Ryan R. – EY.
Gregory W. – N/A.
Dave S. – ROBBIE E.
Mike T. – N/A.
Jason N. – ROBBIE E.
Anthony V. – ROBBIE E. I predict this is the hardest one to call because anything can happen in this match. In the end, I pick the physical education teacher from New Jersey.
Nicholas G. – ROBBIE.
Josh B. – ROBBIE.
Darragh O. – ROBBIE E.
Greg M. – ROBBIE E.
Evan O. – ROBBIE E.
Matt O. – ERIC YOUNG.
Joe D. – ROBBIE E.
CONSENSUS: ROBBIE E. In a match that probably will happen only for comic relief, the vast majority predicts that the champion retains the TV Title.
ROBBIE E. 10; Young 2.
Tag Team Match for the TNA World Tag Team Championship
Crimson and Matt Morgan (c’s) vs. Devon and D’Angelo Dinero
Jose M. – CRIMSON AND MATT MORGAN I think this is the part where Pope and Devon finally feud.
Ryan R. – CRIMSON AND MATT MORGAN.
Gregory W. – N/A.
Dave S. – CRIMSON/MORGAN.
Mike T. – N/A.
Jason N. – CRIMSON & MATT MORGAN.
Anthony V. – CRIMSON/MORGAN. I can’t see Crimson’s streak ending over this. Also, is anyone else getting tired of this Dinero/Devon feud? I am a fan of both, just not this feud.
Nicholas G. – CRIMMORGAN.
Josh B. – CRIMSON & MORGAN.
Darragh O. – CRIMSON AND MATT MORGAN.
Greg M. – CRIMSON & MATT MORGAN.
Evan O. – CRIMSON AND MATT MORGAN.
Matt O. – CRIMSON AND MATT MORGAN.
Joe D. – CRIMSON & MORGAN.
CONSENSUS: CRIMSON AND MORGAN. Devon and Dinero are feuding with each other just days before their title match, and that should alone not bode well for the challengers. The staff all predicted that the champs retain the titles.
CRIMSON AND MORGAN 12; Devon and Dinero 0.
Singles Match for the TNA X Division Championship
Austin Aries (c) vs. Kid Kash
Jose M. – AUSTIN ARIES because he is the greatest man alive.
Ryan R. – ARIES.
Gregory W. – N/A.
Dave S. – ARIES.
Mike T. – N/A.
Jason N. – AUSTIN ARIES.
Anthony V. – ARIES. I told a few of my colleagues the reason I am going A-Double. Aries adds charisma and personality to the title. No one comes close. Aries should be champ a long time.
Nicholas G. – ARIES.
Josh B. – ARIES.
Darragh O. – KID KASH.
Greg M. – AUSTIN ARIES.
Evan O. – AUSTIN ARIES.
Matt O. – AUSTIN ARIES.
Joe D. – I’d have thought AUSTIN ARIES is the safe bet here, so I’m going with him.
CONSENSUS: ARIES. While Kash may be the biggest threat to Aries’ championship, the vast majority of the staff believe that the champion will retain the X Title.
ARIES 11; Kash 1.
30-Minute Iron Man Match for the TNA World Heavyweight Championship
Bobby Roode (c) vs. AJ Styles
Jose M. – BOBBY ROODE in what hopefully is a classic encounter.
Ryan R. – BOBBY ROODE.
Gregory W. – N/A.
Dave S. – ROODE.
Mike T. – N/A.
Jason N. – BOBBY ROODE.
Anthony V. – ROODE. Wow, a show where there is not one title change? I just don’t see Roode losing out on this title unless something crazy happens. Roode will be selfish, and cheat his way to a 3-2 fall victory.
Nicholas G. – ROODE.
Josh B. – ROODE.
Darragh O. – BOBBY ROODE.
Greg M. – BOBBY ROODE.
Evan O. – BOBBY ROODE.
Matt O. – BOBBY ROODE.
Joe D. – I think BOBBY ROODE should win this one, from the sounds of it, he is supposed to be the new face of the company, so why not put him over an established star?
CONSENSUS: ROODE. Bobby Roode is the safe bet due to his current run as the champion and his new “era of selfishness”. Styles will give a good fight, but no one thinking Roode is leaving without the title.
ROODE 12; Styles 0.
