PPV Predictions: TNA Victory Road 2012

Predictions from the Faculty
TNA Victory Road PPV
March 18, 2012
Predictions by: Wrestleview Columnists and Staff
Written by: Anthony J. Valvo of Wrestleview.com

Introduction

Welcome to the Round #3 of “Predictions from the Faculty” (Season #4). This weekend, we gathered our thoughts for the upcoming TNA Pay-Per-View, as we will provide our selections for Victory Road. The show will be held at The Impact Zone in Orlando, FL.

The card is currently booked to have eight matches.

In case you are new to reading these predictions, here is the format. Each Pay-Per-View a few of the columnists, recappers, and radio hosts at Wrestleview provide predictions on who they think will win the matches. We accumulate the records throughout the end of the Faculty’s year (in this case, the 2013 Royal Rumble).

What makes this entirely different to others is that you, the reader, can provide your picks for a spot to have yours posted in an upcoming PPV. You can participate by contacting by any means under the “Dismissal” portion of this piece. The winner among the “Wrestleview Students” will win an opportunity to post their picks as a “Student of the Week” (if they outright defeat the reigning Students of the Week). We all thank you for your participation.

Tie-Breakers will determine standings!

I have decided to prevent some tiebreakers, I will issue points to Title Matches that are predicted correctly. There will be three championship matches on the card, so the maximum amount of points to go along with the win/loss standing will be FOUR points. Also, if I throw out a pick for a championship, then obviously no bonus will be counted for that particular match.

But wait, to the Wrestleview “students”, there is more!

I got approval for this decision, and for the SECOND time in our three seasons the students will compete for PRIZES!!! That is right; we felt that your loyalty to the article shall be rewarded. However, the prizes* will not be handed out until the FINAL PPV Prediction of the season (which will be WWE’s Royal Rumble 2013). So not only will one get a chance to earn a Gold Star and be a part of this game, but it will be for a competition.

*Prizes go out to the top three (the most picked correctly and if needed tiebreaker points) positions and the worst (most matches picked incorrectly with the fewest tiebreaker points).

Predictions for TNA’s Victory Road

(Note: N/A means that a person’s picks are “not available” at the moment).

*** NON-TITLE MATCHES ***

Tag Team Match
Christopher Daniels and Kazarian vs. AJ Styles and Mr. Anderson

Anthony V. – AJ and ANDERSON. This has all the makings for Styles to finally get an edge on his rivals.

Josh B. – AJ AND ANDERSON.

Nick G. – N/A.

Darragh O. – DANIELS AND KAZARIAN.

Evan O. – AJ STYLES AND MR. ANDERSON

Jason N. – DANEILS AND KAZARIAN.

Dave S. – N/A.

Matt O. – STYLES AND ANDERSON.

Jose M. – AJ AND MR. ANDERSON.

Mike T. – N/A.

Greg M. – AJ STYLES AND MR. ANDERSON

Grash – N/A.

Jamie S. – AJ AND ANDERSON.

Travis T. – AJ AND ANDERSON.

Robert D. – CHRIS/KAZ.

Sam N. – DANIELS AND KAZ.

Goose O. – N/A.

Ryan R. – STYLES AND ANDERSON.

Rocky D. – AJ STYLES AND MR. ANDERSON

Randy M. – AJ & A$$hole, I mean ANDERSON (it’s interesting to see him back though).

Pat L. – CHRIS DANIELS AND KAZ.

CONSENSUS: STYLES AND ANDERSON 12-5. The majority of the Faculty decided to go with the babyface team. Anderson is just there to fight and Styles needs someone to even things out. I might make sense to go with the Phenomenal One and that @$$hole of a partner.

Singles Match
Jeff Hardy vs. Kurt Angle

Anthony V. – HARDY. Angle can’t win this because of a couple reasons. First, he has the Olympic Trails soon. Second, Garret won a challenge last week. If he won and Hardy lost, then what? Glad to see Hardy really bounce back from last year.

Josh B. – ANGLE.

Nick G. – N/A.

Darragh O. – KURT ANGLE.

Evan O. – JEFF HARDY.

Jason N. – KURT ANGLE.

Dave S. – N/A.

Matt O. – ANGLE.

Jose M. – JEFF HARDY.

Mike T. – N/A.

Greg M. – KURT ANGLE.

Grash – N/A.

Jamie S. – ANGLE.

Bob Z. – N/A.

Dan W. – HARDY.

Stuart M. – N/A.

Travis T. – JEFF HARDY.

Robert D. – HARDY.

Sam N. – KURT ANGLE.

Goose O. – N/A.

Ryan R. – HARDY.

Rocky D. – KURT ANGLE.

Randy M. – JEFF HARDY.

Pat L. – Didn’t Hardy f@ck up this PPV before? ANGLE wins.

CONSENSUS: ANGLE 9-8. When was a prediction this close? Though Hardy has shown great improvement and a desire to work well in the ring, a very split majority of the Faculty chose Angle as the winner.

Singles Match
Bully Ray vs. James Storm

Anthony V. – STORM. I feel this match is going to be a good tune-up for Storm. Ray will get his attack after the match. A darkhorse for Match of the Night.

Josh B. – STORM.

Nick G. – N/A.

Darragh O. – JAMES STORM.

Evan O. – BULLY RAY.

Jason N. – BULLY RAY.

Dave S. – N/A.

Matt O. – STORM.

Jose M. – JAMES STORM.

Mike T. – N/A.

Greg M. – JAMES STORM.

Grash – N/A.

Jamie S. – STORM.

Bob Z. – N/A.

Dan W. – STORM.

Stuart M. – N/A.

Travis T. – JAMES STORM.

Robert D. – STORM.

Sam N. – BULLY RAY.

Goose O. – N/A.

Ryan R. – STORM.

Rocky D. – BULLY RAY.

Randy M. – JAMES STORM.

Pat L. – When does Storm have a World Title Match? Next month? STORM wins.

CONSENSUS: STORM 13-4. Bully Ray is the last hurdle for Storm to jump over before he has his eyes set on Roode’s TNA World Championship.

No Holds Barred Match
Bobby Roode vs. Sting

Anthony V. – STING. I may be wrong, but I smell a DQ finish. It’s happened before. Already this will be better than last year’s main event at Victory Road.

Josh B. – ROODE.

Nick G. – N/A.

Darragh O. – STING.

Evan O. – BOBBY ROODE.

Jason N. – BOBBY ROODE.

Dave S. – N/A.

Matt O. – STING.

Jose M. – BOBBY ROODE.

Mike T. – N/A.

Greg M. – BOBBY ROODE.

Grash – N/A.

Jamie S. – STING (only because it is non-title).

Bob Z. – N/A.

Dan W. – ROODE.

Stuart M. – N/A.

Travis T. – BOBBY ROODE.

Robert D. – ROODE.

Sam N. – BOBBY ROODE.

Goose O. – N/A.

Ryan R. – ROODE.

Rocky D. – BOBBY ROODE.

Randy M. – STING.

Pat L. – ROODE wins; don’t bet against the champ.

CONSENSUS: ROODE 12-5. Sting will give it his best, but the young and selfish TNA Champion will win in this non-title match according to the Faculty.

*** CHAMPIONSHIP MATCHES ***

Singles Match for the TNA Knockout’s Championship
Gail Kim (c) vs. Madison Rayne

Anthony V. – RAYNE. This may be the toughest match to predict. Both cheated on Impact to win last Thursday, but I will say an edge goes to Rayne. Rayne has used tactics to her advantage a bit longer than Kim.

Josh B. – KIM.

Nick G. – N/A.

Darragh O. – GAIL KIM.

Evan O. – GAIL KIM.

Jason N. – GAIL KIM.

Dave S. – N/A.

Matt O. – GAIL KIM.

Jose M. – GAIL KIM.

Mike T. – N/A.

Greg M. – MADISON RAYNE.

Grash – N/A.

Jamie S. – GAIL retains.

Bob Z. – N/A.

Dan W. – GAIL KIM.

Stuart M. – N/A.

Travis T. – RAYNE.

Robert D. – RAYNE.

Sam N. – GAIL KIM.

Goose O. – N/A.

Ryan R. – GAIL KIM.

Rocky D. – Winner and still TNA Knockouts Champion, GAIL KIM.

Randy M. – RAYNE (I want to go with Gail but it is Madison).

Pat L. – Rayne is my fave knockout along with Sky, RAYNE wins; new champion!

CONSENSUS: KIM 11-6. This is the toughest title match to predict for Victory Road. The majority of this crowded Faculty Lounge predicts that the champion will retain the title. How Gail Kim will win it will be unpredictable.

Tag Team Match for the TNA World Tag Team Championship
Samoa Joe and Magnus (c’s) vs. Matt Morgan and Crimson

Anthony V. – JOE AND MAGNUS. The champs retain, but the bigger story will be the inevitable breakup of Crimson and Morgan.

Josh B. – JOE AND MAGNUS.

Nick G. – N/A.

Darragh O. – SAMOA JOE AND MAGNUS.

Evan O. – MATT MORGAN AND CRIMSON.

Jason N. – JOE AND MAGNUS.

Dave S. – N/A.

Matt O. – JOE AND MAGNUS.

Jose M. – SAMOA JOE AND MAGNUS.

Mike T. – N/A.

Greg M. – SAMOA JOE AND MAGNUS.

Grash – N/A.

Jamie S. – JOE AND MAGNUS retain.

Bob Z. – N/A.

Dan W. – JOE AND MAGNUS.

Stuart M. – N/A.

Travis T. – JOE AND MAGNUS.

Robert D. – JOE/MAGNUS.

Sam N. – JOE AND MAGNUS.

Goose O. – N/A.

Ryan R. – JOE AND MAGNUS.

Rocky D. – Winners and still TNA Tag Team Champions, SAMOA JOE AND MAGNUS.

Randy M. – JOE & MAGNUS.

Pat L. – JOE AND MAGNUS retain, Morgan and Crimson brawl.

CONSENSUS: JOE AND MAGNUS 16-1. With the exemption of a Wrestleview Staff member, we expect that the champions retain the title.

Singles Match for the TNA Television Championship
Robbie E. (c) vs. Mystery Opponent

(some guessed who the mystery would be)

Anthony V. – ROBBIE E. I think he gets a cheap win. As for the mystery opponent, I say it is Hernandez. It’s been a while since he appeared on Impact.

Josh B. – RVD (RVD will be the mystery opponent).

Nick G. – N/A.

Darragh O. – ROBBIE E (Hardcore Holly will be the opponent).

Evan O. – MYSTERY OPPONENT (Mystery will be Sid Vicious).

Jason N. – ODB (ODB will be the mystery opponent).

Dave S. – N/A.

Matt O. – ROBBIE E.

Jose M. – MYSTERY OPPONENT.

Mike T. – N/A.

Greg M. – MYSTERY OPPONENT (Mystery will be Chris Masters); The TV Title doesn’t make it to PPV unless they want to crown a new champion.

Grash – N/A.

Jamie S. – Whoever the MYSTERY OPPONENT (Chris Sabin) is reckon they’ll win.

Bob Z. – N/A.

Dan W. – MYSTERY OPPONENT.

Stuart M. – N/A.

Travis T. – I have a feeling the MYSTERY OPPONENT is Sabin so I say mystery opponent.

Robert D. – ROBBIE E.

Sam N. – Mystery Opponent will be Stalker Ishikawa (I honestly have no earthly clue. I just picked the first name that popped in my head). ROBBIE E.

Goose O. – N/A.

Ryan R. – Whoever answers the challenge will be the winner (MYSTERY OPPONENT).

Rocky D. – ROBBIE E retains title in the open challenge.

Randy M. – MYSTERY OPPONENT.

Pat L. – Why defend TV title on PPV, shouldn’t it be defended on TV? Hate “?” matches, hopefully it is EY. ROBBIE E wins.

CONSENSUS: MYSTERY 10-7. Robbie E has held the TV Title for a long time, but the majority thinks that it is time for a title change. Whether it be RVD, Chris Sabin, or even Sid Vicious expect the mystery to be The Champion.

Singles Match for the TNA X Division Championship
Austin Aries (c) vs. Zema Ion

Anthony V. – ARIES. I think Ion is a solid wrestler but again no one can touch Aries in the X Division. I hope Aries holds this for a year (or longer).

Josh B. – ARIES.

Nick G. – N/A.

Darragh O. – ZEMA ION.

Evan O. – AUSTIN ARIES.

Jason N. – AUSTIN ARIES.

Dave S. – N/A.

Matt O. – ARIES.

Jose M. – ZEMA ION.

Mike T. – N/A.

Greg M. – AUSTIN ARIES.

Grash – N/A.

Jamie S. – ZEMA.

Bob Z. – N/A.

Dan W. – ARIES.

Stuart M. – N/A.

Travis T. – ARIES.

Robert D. – ARIES.

Sam N. – AUSTIN ARIES.

Goose O. – N/A.

Ryan R. – AUSTIN ARIES.

Rocky D. – Winner and still X-Division Champion, AUSTIN ARIES.

Randy M. – ARIES (kinda odd to see somebody more of a heel than Aries in X Division or at least at this point with what happened on last Impact).

Pat L. – Why reward someone who just injured someone extremely bad? A DOUBLE retains.

CONSENSUS: ARIES 14-3. Ion was able to garner a few to lean toward him as the new champion, however the majority still believe that A-Double’s reign will last for awhile.
