Almost everyone in TNA was watching the Gina Carano vs. Cyborg female MMA fight on Showtime presented by Strikeforce two weekends ago the day before TNA’s Hard Justice PPV. The hotel that all of the TNA talent stay at has Showtime, so it was definitely the topic of discussion the next day at the PPV event at the Impact Zone. The Wrestling Observer Newsletter is reporting that Jim Cornette in particular was talking about it and noted how watching MMA has given him so many new types of finishes that have never been used before in pro wrestling. He was said to be so inspired that he is already compiling a book of new finishes. A majority of the discussion focused on how well the fight was presented by Strikeforce and how it can related to future business for both women in MMA and pro wrestling. While this doesn’t appear to have any chance of happening, there was talk of how great Carano could be used in pro wrestling and more specifically in TNA if she was to ever work for the company.
