Impact Wrestling opens up with Sting and Roode being shown arriving to the arena earlier today as tonight they will sign the contract for Victory Road. A video package then runs hyping up that match.

James Storm’s music hits and the Cowboy makes his way down to the ring. Storm says ever since November 3rd he’s been waiting for his one-on-one opportunity for the World Title and maybe a little bit of revenge. A big “it’s your time” chant starts as Storm says Roode is what he says he is, selfish. He says that Roode is the type of person who wants and takes which is what’s wrong with the world today: too many wanters and takers and not enough givers. Storm says that at Lockdown he’s going to be all 3 of those things because he’s going to GIVE Roode the ass whipping of his life, he WANTS that World Title, and he’ll TAKE it! He says he only one more thing left to say… SORRY ABOUT YO D…but then he stops and says he’s not going to say this time because Roode will need every bit of the luck he get at Lockdown. Bully Ray’s music cuts Storm off and the Bully makes his way down the ramp.

Ray mockingly says “wow” and Storm is fired up tonight. He says he can feel it, James Storm is ready, but unfortunately Ray says he’s not sure that Storm knows where he’s at right now. Ray says he’s the guy that kicked that steel chair into Storm’s head, but Storm says if he remembers right then HE is the guy that kicked Ray’s teeth down his throat to become the new #1 Contender. Storm then tells Ray to stop running his mouth and come into the ring right now so they can do what they do best and that’s beat the living hell out of each other. Ray tells Storm to kiss his calves and he’s not going to make it to Lockdown and he won’t be able to beat Roode because of Ray. Ray says in 3 days Storm has to face him at Victory Road and he’s going to take Storm out so he can’t make it to his “redneck backyard” to make his dreams come true.

Storm comes out of the ring and starts walking towards Ray and says they need to do this thing right now. Ray asks Storm if he wants to fight and Storm says emphatically yes. Ray says if that’s the case he has good news for him and bad news. The good news is he won’t be facing Ray but he’s going to face Gunner tonight! Gunner comes down the ramp and Ray says if he wants to fight someone so bad he can fight Gunner.

Gunner gets in Storm’s face and Storm says he hopes Gunner packed a lunch and then punches him in the mouth! Storm and Gunner brawl around ringside until agents and referees run out to separate them. Ray then sucker punches Storm as the agents were holding Storm back! He screams Storm “ain’t making it to Lockdown” again.

Gail Kim and Madison walk and argue backstage blaming each other for losing the KO Tag Titles until they walk up on Sting. Sting gives them a death stare and then tells them to shutup. He says that he has Roode on his mind tonight but then says Gail is going to face Mickie James and Madison is going to face Velvet Sky and that match is NEXT.

———————————————-COMMERCIAL BREAK———————————————–

Another video package hyping Roode-Sting is shown. Roode trashes Sting for booking himself “in another Main Event” and says he will take Sting out at Victory Road and will do whatever it takes to get it down.

Velvet hits the ropes and connects with a Running Bulldog and then she goes to lock in a Side Headlock. Earlier today Crimson and Morgan were talking about their match last week. Morgan mockingly says “a hell of a team win there last week” but Crimson cuts him off and says they won and that’s all that matters. Crimson says this Sunday they have to be on the same page so they can get their titles back. Morgan asks Crimson if he’s here to win championships and make money and Crimson says of course. Morgan says he was just making sure and Crimson says to win championships you have to win lots of matches and if there’s anyone that knows about winning matches it’s him. Morgan laughs as Crimson calls himself “the undefeated one.” Morgan tells him he needs to worry about Joe tonight.

In the back Austin Aries is shown walking backstage with a bottle of champagne.

———————————————-COMMERCIAL BREAK———————————————–

Back from the break Austin Aries is standing in the ring and he says it’s a great day to be great and it’s an even better day to break records. He says he’s usually not one to pay attention to numbers and statistics but here are some numbers to pay attention to. He says there has been 50 X-Division Title reigns held by 25 different wrestlers. He says not only is he the greatest man to ever live but he is officially the greatest X-Division and longest reigning champion in X-Division history beating the previous record of 182 days (held by Daniels I believe). Aries says he wants to celebrate with all of the fans and then he introduces a video package highlighting his X-Division Title reign. It’s set to a song by Get Cape, Wear Cape, Fly in which Aries (and Alex Shelley) is the star of the music video for called “The Real McCoy.” Aries thanks himself but says he also needs to thank some of the very good X-Division wrestlers out there that he beat because without them he couldn’t have accomplished them. He says they are good but not great and then toasts himself, the greatest man to ever live. Zema Ion’s music interrupts Aries and then he walks down to the ring.

Aries says he didn’t send Zema an invitation to be out here but he understands that Zema just wants to stand in the spotlight of Aries. Aries says that last week Zema beat him at his own game and he can appreciate that. Zema says he didn’t beat Aries at his own game, he beat Aries at HIS game. He says that he embarrassed Aries last week and he proved that he isn’t as smart as he thought he was. He says that if he was smart he would hand over the X-Division Title right now because this Sunday what happened to Jesse Sorensen could easily happen to Aries. Aries mockingly laughs and then says Zema must have put on his “big boys drawers” but he can appreciate Zema acting like he’s got some hair on his nuts for once. Aries says since Zema is so on fire he should do the toast for him. Zema says “here’s to Austin Aries and your spectacular title reign which unfortunately ends this Sunday.” Zema says if Aries still doesn’t take him seriously then he needs to remember he’s not just “F’ing pretty, I’m pretty f’ing dangerous” and then tosses the wine into Aries’ face. Aries kicks Zema and then starts spraying the wine into Zema’s face before tossing him out of the ring. Zema flips out as Aries takes a few swigs of the wine.

———————————————-COMMERCIAL BREAK———————————————–

Back from the break Joseph Park approaches Gunner and asks him about Abyss. Gunner says he can’t help him because he has a match and then walks away.

Footage of EY asking ODB to marry him last week is shown and then ODB & EY are shown talking about the wedding in the back. EY makes a bunch of suggestions and he suggests the ring (oh joy). He says they’re going to get married on Impact and she agrees.

Kurt Angle says he hates when young punks like Garett Bischoff think they belong in this business and then calls him “Garett Bitchoff” and says he caused him to lose last week. Angle says tonight it’ll be him and Garett in a 5-Minute Challenge but he talked to Garett’s wife and she said he couldn’t last 3 minutes. He says that Victory Road may very well be Jeff Hardy’s last match because he HATES Jeff.

———————————————-COMMERCIAL BREAK———————————————–

Another vignette hyping Roode-Sting is shown with clips and photos of Sting in the past and he says he may have to be a little “Crowish” and stoop down to Roode’s level this Sunday to take out Roode.

Another vignette hyping Sting-Roode is shown.

———————————————-COMMERCIAL BREAK———————————————–

Another Roode-Sting vignette airs with Sting saying he hasn’t been unfair to Roode while Roode says Sting has it out for him. At the end of the video we cut to the ring where Sting and Roode are already at the table for the contract signing. Both guys sign the contract and then Roode snatches the microphone away from JB and says he remembers like yesterday when he won the World Title on November 3rd. He says that was the day he became the it factor and the leader of the selfish generation. He says since that day Sting has been nothing more than a pain in his ass and for months he’s tried to figure out why Sting has so much hated towards him. He says he thinks he’s finally found the answer, Sting is jealous of Roode. He asks Sting if he remembers 22 long years ago when Sting defeated Ric Flair for his first World Championship. He says he remembers it very well because he was a fan watching it. He says Sting had it all and he wanted to be just like him but 22 years later Sting now looks at Roode and sees himself in Roode. He says Roode possesses all of the same traits that Sting once had except he’s just that much better than Sting was because he’s bigger, stronger, faster, smarter, and better looking and just simply a better World Champion than Sting ever was. A big “Bobby sucks” chant starts and then Bobby says Sting’s one of those guys who continuously hangs around the business to steal the young guys spotlight. He tells Sting to let it go and step away from the spotlight and asks if he’s just scared of people forgetting his legacy, but says the business has passed Sting by and this Sunday he will step in the ring with the World Champ. Roode says when Sting gets up in the morning he doesn’t get up as quick as he used to and when he walks around he doesn’t get around as good as he once did. He gets in Sting’s face and says that stupid facepaint he puts on doesn’t scare him and the reason he puts that paint on is because when he looks into the mirror he has to mask himself because he knows when he looks himself in the eyes he doesn’t have what it takes anymore. Roode says this Sunday he will expose Sting for who he really is and that’s nothing more than a washed out has been that should have left the business a long time ago. Roode asks Sting what’s wrong as he stares down and Roode says for the first time in Sting’s career he has nothing to say. He asks Sting if the truth hurts and then he drops the microphone and picks his title up.

Sting flips the table over and kicks his chair over before pulling out the facepaint. Sting wipes it on his face and then Roode says he told him that paint doesn’t scare him. Sting wipes it on Roode’s face and then Sting nails Roode! Sting beats on Roode in the corner and then wipes more paint on him and then he continues to beat on the champ. Sting clotheslines Roode over the top and then picks up a chair from the ring and tosses it at him! Sting screams at Roode and beats his chest as Roode recovers on the outside.

FINAL THOUGHTS

Things weren’t great in the ring tonight again but the promos were pretty good most of the night.

The opening promo with Storm and Ray was excellent and the match with Storm-Gunner was okay but nothing special just there to give Storm some steam going into the PPV.

I like the idea of adding another layer to the Fortune drama but Mr. Anderson is obviously just there because they needed to get him back on TV although the idea of AJ saying he’s going to get the help of an “asshole” since everyone else stabs him in the back makes sense (the asshole will stab you in the front).

Both Knockouts matches were pretty good especially Gail-Mickie except for the finish.

Anderson-Daniels worked well together and Anderson looked pretty good in his return.

Joe and Crimson had a fun match with Crimson looking to be more and more going the route of heel which seems like it might fit him better.

The ass beating Angle put on Garett was nice to watch and I have to give Garett respect because Angle hit him with more than one pretty stiff shot in that match.

The final promo by Roode was really well done and Sting’s reaction with him just looking down really worked well and then finally it seeming like he snapped and went after Roode. The added No Holds Barred stipulation should make this match interesting. They really hyped that match up well all night with the vignettes as well.
