Former ECW star New Jack passes away

Former ECW star New Jack (real name Jerome Young) has passed away at 58 due to a heart attack. Young’s wife, Jennifer confirmed his death to PWInsider. The news of New Jack’s death was also posted to his official Facebook page.

New Jack began his professional wrestling career in the United States Wrestling Association in 1992, then he moved onto the North Georgia Wrestling Alliance in 1993. After leaving the NGWA, he then wrestled for Smokey Mountain Wrestling. He then signed with ECW in 1995 where he was best known for his violent and hardcore style.  He held the ECW tag team titles on three occasion.  He stayed with ECW until its bankruptcy in 2001.

He spent time on the independent scene from 2001-2012 and made appearances for Total Nonstop Action in 2003, 2004 and 2010.  He made a brief return to the independent scene in 2016

Young’s life and career was chronicled during the second season of Dark Side of the Ring.
