The following aired during Friday night’s episode.

At the beginning of the show Paul Heyman is backstage with Kayla Braxton in an interview that is billed as recorded earlier in the day.

Kayla said that it has been one week since Heyman was fired publicly by Roman Reigns

She then asked him what happened.

Heyman said what happened was that he told the truth to Reigns, a truth Reigns did not want to hear, publicly. Heyman said he was fired, publicly, because he told the truth. Heyman then said he paid a price for telling the truth. Kayla then asked Heyman if he regrets telling the truth. After Heyman thought about it, he said no because his role as special counsel was to tell Reigns the uncomfortable truths, not just to protect Reigns as a personality, but as champion.

Heyman told Kayla that when he came back from the ring he had to explain everything to Reigns, but all his suits, bags and belongings were tossed out from Reigns’ locker room suite into the hallway. Heyman said his role was to protect the Universal Title and then said Reigns is the greatest Universal Champion of all-time, but needs to be protected from Brock Lesnar.

Kayla’s final question to Heyman is what is next. Heyman took a sip of water and said he didn’t know. Maybe he goes to NXT, scout a top talent and start all over again. Not at this stage. Heyman said he put every bit of his heart, soul and spirit into being Reigns’ special counsel because he believes in Reigns, and that without that, maybe it’s time for Him (Heyman) to acknowledge that his career is mostly likely over.
