As first reported by the Memphis Wrestling Hall of Fame and then later confirmed by PWInsider, legendary Memphis Wrestling promoter Jerry Jarrett has passed away. He was 80 years old.

The cause of death is unknown at this time.

Jerry Jarrett sold Memphis Wrestling in the mid-1990’s, thus leaving the wrestling business. He would later return, however, to the business in 2002 to launch TNA Wrestling with his son WWE Hall of Famer and AEW’s Director of Business Development, Jeff Jarrett.

Jerry Jarrett was inducted into the NWA Hall of Fame in 2009.

As of this writing, the Jarrett family has not yet made a statement on Jerry’s passing.
