Backstage notes on John Cena’s future in WWE after his appearance at MITB

John Cena made his surprise return to WWE at Saturday’s Money in the Bank, which took place live from The O2 Arena in London, England. Cena’s appearance was to campaign for London to possibly host a future WrestleMania.

According to Fightful Select, the 16-time World Champion’s appearance was kept very secret with only a select few that were aware he would be on the premium live event.

Fightful Select also notes Cena’s involvement with WWE was just limited to his appearance at Saturday’s Money in the Bank. The report further notes that Cena showing up at Money in the Bank was a one-off and that at this time, there are no future plans for him WWE. This could all change, however, if his schedule allows. The report from Fightful Select concluded by noting that WWE was said to have been very pleased with his appearance and how well everything went.

During the segment, Cena was interrupted by Grayson Waller which turned into a verbal exchange with Waller insulting London and Cena. The verbal exchange eventually turned into a physical altercation with Waller attacking Cena, but then Cena delivering an AA on Waller in the end.
