Report: CM Punk and Jack Perry had disagreement over use of real glass on Collision

A new report surfaced on Tuesday regarding a discussion/argument between CM Punk and FTW Champion Jack Perry on a past AEW Collision.

Fightful Select reported Perry was brought to one of the four Collision episodes that took place in Canada over late-June/July, to film a segment which contained a spot that Perry wanted to use real glass for. Fightful Select did not specify as to what the segment was supposed to be and what it would have been used for.

Also according Fightful Select, Punk had felt that Perry was throwing a “temper tantrum” over his desired use of real glass, despite production, doctors and Tony Schiavone not recommending it. The report further notes that Punk reportedly felt Perry was trying to avoid having to work the next week “which he sees as a big problem in the company.”

Fightful Select adds that Perry was also said not to have been happy about the decision, including the guidelines that AEW put in place to protect talent.

The report concluded by saying that Punk’s claim was that he was asked to step in. Punk calmly to Perry they don’t do that on Saturdays (for Collision) and if he does not like it, he could stay on Wednesdays, adding this discussion was actually seen as “an argument” by those in the locker room.

F4WOnline notes in their report that they had heard the story and thought something might have got lost in translation. Bryan Alvarez said the following per his report:

“Jungle Boy had a vacation planned. He wanted to do a pre-taped angle with a car to write him off TV for that week. Punk told him no. He felt it was too dangerous to do a broken glass spot and said they cared about safety. Jungle was upset about that. That is very different from the story that Jack wanted to do a dangerous spot as a way to avoid having to go to work.”

Furthermore, F4WOnline said there has been an increase of discussion surrounding Punk and both his control on Collision and overall power in AEW, following reports that he had several talents and an executive unbooked and taken off Collision. In addition the reports said that Punk also had other talents unbooked from Collision, including Hangman Page, Matt Hardy, Ryan Nemeth, head of talent relations Christopher Daniels and Isiah Kassidy.

PWInsider reported on Tuesday that several AEW sources said there was always a plan to have Page film a promo on Saturday away from the building which had nothing to do with Punk.

Punk had called out Page in an off-air promo, insulting him. However, PWInsider also said that Punk felt bad about the comments and later sent Page a text apologizing.
