Triple H confirms former top AEW star signs with WWE

WWE Chief Content Officer Paul “Triple H” Levesque has confirmed ESPN’s report that former AEW TBS Champion Jade Cargill has signed with WWE.

According to Fightful, Cargill has signed a multi-year deal.

According to a report on from Marc Raimond at ESPN, former AEW TBS Champion Jade Cargill has signed with WWE.

The report also notes that according to WWE officials, Cargill is set to start at the Performance Center in Orlando on Tuesday.

It had been widley reported over the past few weeks that Cargill was on her way out of AEW and headed to WWE.

Cargill the longest-reigning TBS champion, having held the title 508 days. She wrapped up her time in AEW back on the September 15 episode of Rampage, in losing effort to Kris Statlander in a TBS Title Match.

As of this writing, ESPN further notes that it remains unclear if Cargill will go straight to the WWE main roster or if she will wrestle first on NXT.

The 31-year-old Cargill has been wrestling professionally for only two years. She made in-ring debut in AEW as part of a mixed tag-team match back in March 2021, teaming up with NBA legend Shaquille O’Neal against Cody Rhodes and Red Velvet.

Also per ESPN, Cargill is a Florida native who considered a major future star in pro wrestling. Prior to her pro wrestling career, she was also a fitness model and played Division I basketball at Jacksonville University.

Cargill is married to former Cincinnati Reds player Brandon Phillips. The couple own the Women’s Professional Fastpitch team, the Texas Smoke.
