AEW Dynamite Results – 2/7/24 (Strickland vs. Hangman Adam Page, Title Match And More!)

It is Wednesday, my dudes…you know what that means.

Following a quick rundown of what’s to come tonight, Hangman Adam Page makes his way to the ring for our opening contest! Out next is Swerve Strickland, who looks ready to face Page one more time with a future shot at the AEW World Championship on the line. With that, our opening contest is underway!

Swerve Strickland vs. Hangman Adam Page

The two lock up until backing away, only to lock up once more…with Page taking Strickland to the corner before taking a clean break. Another lock up between the two ends with Swerve sending Hangman to the corner before making a clean break of his own, as he mocks Page…who responds with a smack to the face!

Strickland charges at Page, leading to a brawl between them that spills to the outside as Swerve takes control. He brings Hangman back into the ring, but Page sends him to the corner with a few punches and stomps on Strickland before stepping away. Swerve turns it around on the former World Champion, sending Page into the corner for some stomps of his own as the crowd show their approval.

Page catches Strickland with a fallaway slam much the crowd’s approval as well, clearly favoring both men as Page looks to bring Swerve to his feet…only to take a big headbutt for his troubles! Swerve drops Hangman and goes up top…only to be swept off the ropes by Hangman, who follows with some hard punches!

Swerve is quick to catch him by surprise however, looking for a flying octopus hold before taking Page to the canvas. Strickland looks to target the arm of Hangman now, but Page escapes before catching him with a lariat on the apron…and then slamming his head against the turnbuckle, sending Swerve to the floor!

Page goes to the outside to continue the beatdown, sending Strickland to the barricade before wearing him down with some more punches. He eventually brings Swerve back into the ring, sending him to the corner for a couple chops…until Swerve turns it around with some chops of his own!

Page manages to surprise Swerve for a nearfall before looking for a Buckshot Lariat, but Swerve intercepts…only to be sent to the outside, before Page goes up for a moonsault! Swerve dodges it, dropping him hard on the floor before rolling into the ring as the ref starts the count…only for Strickland to hit a dive over the top rope!

Page gets back in the ring, but only so that Swerve can keep up the damage with a hard kick and a chop from the ropes. Big vertical suplex now as Swerve heads to the corner for a House Call and the cover…BUT HANGMAN KICKS OUT!

Swerve sends him to the corner for a superplex but Page fights back and goes for a powerbomb…but Swerve rolls out of it! JML Driver gets blocked and reversed by Page for a Liger Bomb and the cover…BUT NOW IT’S SWERVE WHO KICKS OUT!

Page makes it back to his feet as he heads to the apron, gearing up for a Buckshot Lariat…but Swerve dodges, and hits one of his own! Page is laid out as Swerve goes up top for a Swerve Stomp! Strickland covers…AND PAGE KICKS OUT AGAIN!

The action ends up on the apron once more as Swerve lunges in for a kick to the face of Page, sending him to the floor. Strickland pursues him, looking for a piledriver on the barricade…but Page fights out! DDT onto the barricade by Hangman instead, and we go to picture-in-picture!

Picture-in-Picture: Hangman stays on the attack on the outside, grabbing a table and sending Swerve into the barricade before he sets that table up. Page brings Strickland to his feet, slamming his head against the table before rolling him back into the ring and following close behind as we come back from break!

Swerve starts fighting back as the two trade kicks, leading to both men falling to the canvas! The ref begins the count as both men get to their feet, with Page laying in some punches that sends Strickland to the ropes. Swerve fights back even more now, laying in some punches of his own before hitting a backbreaker for a nearfall!

The action spills back outside now as Swerve goes after a table from under the ring, setting it up before bringing Page back to the ring. Strickland goes up top for a 450 splash but Hangman gets his knees up, getting a cover before Strickland kicks out!

We get a note of five minutes left as Nana distracts Page, allowing Swerve to get back into it…only to get laid out with a Buckshot Lariat by Hangman! And another! Cover by Page…but Strickland gets his foot on the bottom rope!

Page yells at Nana about interfering despite that not happening this time, before he brings Strickland to the apron for a Dead Eye on the apron! Ref starts the count as Nana debates trying to help Strickland, doing the only thing he can without interfering as he dances to “motivate” Swerve…who narrowly gets in the ring at nine, only to be sent right back out by Page! Page grabs a steel chair, yelling at Swerve to stay down…before nailing Nana with it!

Only to get taken out with a kick that sends the chair in his face by Swerve! Back in the ring as Strickland hits a Swerve Stomp, notably hurting his ankle on the landing. JML Driver gets blocked as Page twists the injured ankle! We’re back on the apron now as Strickland fights Page off before hitting him with a Dead Eye off the apron…and through the table on the outside! Page brought back in the ring as Swerve goes up top for a Swerve Stomp…but Page evades it! Buckshot…NO! JML Driver by Strickland, but he delays in getting the cover…and time runs out at the count of two!

Result: Time Limit Draw

The crowd shows their displeasure as Swerve grabs a microphone to verbalize his own. He says he didn’t go through all this for it to end on a draw, demanding five more minutes. The crowd loves the idea, but Page says Strickland needed to beat him to become number one contender and he failed. Swerve will not become World Champion, and for him it is over!

He drops the mic and leaves the ring, but Tony Schiavone makes an announcement…this is NOT done, and at Revolution there will be a three-way match for the AEW World Championship! Hangman Page, Swerve Strickland, and champion Samoa Joe will collide for the title, and Page is livid about this as we go to commercial!

-Commercial Break-

Backstage, Renee talks to Samoa Joe about what was just announced for Revolution. Joe is not a happy man, to say the least, saying that neither man deserves to have that title shot and that the odds are stacked against him…but at Revolution, he will walk out as AEW World Champion, and it is a shame that Page and Swerve will suffer because of it!

Back at ringside, Deonna Purrazzo makes her way to commentary for our next match! Toni Storm makes her way to the ring next, followed by Red Velvet who looks to earn a title shot following Revolution as this match gets underway!

AEW Women’s World Championship Eliminator Match: Toni Storm vs. Red Velvet

Velvet gets the first hold of the match but is taken down by Storm, who counters further offense by Red before grabbing a headlock and sending her to the canvas! Velvet gets back to her feet but is taken down by the champ, who gets sent to the corner for some hard stomps…and retaliates with some mounted punches! Sky High by the champ gets her a nearfall as we go to picture-in-picture!

Picture-in-Picture: The champ maintains control throughout, wearing down Velvet in the corner before locking in a submission hold for added effect. Velvet struggles to fight back as Storm keeps the hold cinched in…but Velvet finally fights out of it as we come back!

Velvet sends the champ to the corner for a flurry of punches, hitting a big bulldog on Storm before hitting a knee to the back of her head on the ropes! Standing moonsault press for the cover, but Toni kicks out!

Storm in the corner as Velvet charges at her, only to get tripped up and sent face-first into the turnbuckle! DDT by the champ for a cover, but this time it’s Red who kicks out!

Velvet catches her by surprise for a nearfall, but gets caught with an ankle lock by the champ…who drives her boot into Red’s neck for leverage! Velvet taps out!

Winner via submission: Toni Storm

Storm doesn’t look to let go of the hold until Deonna rushes into the ring to intervene. The champ mockingly kisses her from cheek to cheek before Luther comes in to break things up as Storm escapes the ring, regrouping with her crew on the ramp.

Backstage, Renee talks to Orange Cassidy about an upcoming International Championship bout against Tomohiro Ishii at Collision and a six-man tag against Undisputed Kingdom at Rampage, before wrapping up by saying they’re checking in on Chuck Taylor before we go to commercial!

-Commercial Break-

Back at ringside, Blackpool Combat Club make their way through the crowd for our next match! They arrive at ringside to the roar of the crowd, before the CMLL trio makes their way to the ring next to another roar of approval from the crowd. The luchadores get to the ring before this match gets underway!

Blackpool Combat Club’s Jon Moxley, Claudio Castagnoli and Bryan Danielson vs. CMLL stars Mascara Dorada, Hechicero, and Volador Jr.

We start off with Hechicero and Danielson, following their match from Collision as the luchador takes Danielson down. Bryan responds in kind as it leads to an exchange of holds, until Hechicero gets a bow and arrow. Danielson fights out and gets to his feet, as does the luchador who shoves Danielson…and he shoves right back! Hechicero with a nearfall before locking in a crucifix on him…eventually sending him to his shoulders for another nearfall!

Tags made to Claudio and Dorada, who hits a big chop on Claudio’s chest but to no avail…but a stomp does! Claudio fights back, stopping the luchador before taking him to the canvas! Dorada catches the former ROH World Champion with a flurry of offense that forces him to back off, tagging in Moxley as Volador Jr. tags in!

The two go at it until Volador catches Mox off-guard, sending him to the outside for a dive…but BCC go after him before the CMLL stars intervene! Chaos ensues as the ref intervenes, and Mox brings Volador back in the ring, stopping the luchador by sending him to the outside…and hitting a dive of his own! The other luchadores go after Mox now, with BCC and the ref coming in to break it up as we go to picture-in-picture!

Picture-in-Picture: BCC maintain control as Danielson tags in, wearing Volador down before tagging in Claudio…who continues the beatdown before tagging in Mox! This continues further as Claudio comes in for a nearfall, catching the luchador with a submission hold that Volador eventually fights to his feet from…only to be dropped to the canvas as we come back from break!

Claudio drops Volador once again, this time setting him up for a Giant Swing round and round before dropping him to the canvas. Mox tags in for a nearfall, before laying in a couple stomps for good measure. Volador sent to the ropes for more damage before the luchador fights back with a solid kick…and tags in Dorada!

Bryan tags in but is quickly overwhelmed, forcing Claudio to get involved…and it all ends with a massive dive on BCC by the CMLL stars! Dorada finishes things off here with a shooting star press off the top to the outside!

Danielson gets brought into the ring as Hechicero tags in, hitting La Conjura with a swinging hammerlock before dropping him to the canvas. Blind tag by Dorada who drops down on him for a cover…but the pin gets broken up!

Mox tries to get involved, but Hechicero leaps over him for a destroyer on Danielson for a nearfall! Claudio jumps in off a tag to cut him off, but gets taken down with a drop toe hold and eventually locks in an ankle lock! Bryan tries to cut him off but gets caught with a stretch muffler until Moxley forces him to break the hold!

Hechicero drops Mox hard, but is intercepted by Claudio…who gets rocked hard as Hechicero goes for the cover! Claudio kicks out!

Claudio sends the luchador into the referee, but Hechicero stops just short…only to get dropped with a low blow for the pin and the win!

Winners via pinfall: Jon Moxley, Claudio Castagnoli and Bryan Danielson

Three other CMLL luchadores hop the barricade in protest, going after BCC until we see Daniel Garcia and 3point0 come in to even the numbers.

We get interrupted by something backstage, as Chuck Taylor gets attacked by Undisputed Kingdom! Adam Cole mockingly tells Taylor to “get well soon” as we go to commercial.

-Commercial Break-

We cut backstage for a special announcement from Tony Khan. Earlier tonight it was confirmed that TD Garden hosts Dynamite, a night Khan touts as being very important as it will be AEW Big Business, five weeks from tonight, and it is a show not to be missed.

Back at ringside, Chris Jericho makes his way to the ring for our next match. Out next is Konosuke Takeshita, accompanied by the Don Callis Family before this match gets underway!

Konosuke Takeshita vs. Chris Jericho

The two lock up immediately, with neither man quite giving an inch as they try to take each other down…before Jericho sends Takeshita voer the top rope to the outside! Konosuke looks out of it as Don Callis shouts at him, slapping him in the head! Jericho interrupts however Takeshita was going to respond to this however, only for the Alpha to take control as he sends Jericho to the ring apron…and follows with a teardrop brainbuster to the floor!

The ref checks on Jericho until the action comes back into the ring, starting to fight back until Powerhouse Hobbs trips the Ocho up. The ref admonishes him as Sammy runs in with a steel chair to the back…and a cutter off the apron! Sammy sends Hobbs into the crowd with another chair shot as Takeshita hits a jumping knee on Jericho…only for Jericho to counter with a springboard dropkick! He follows by grabbing Takeshita’s entrance mask to mock the Alpha with an elbow to the outside as we go to picture-in-picture!

Picture-in-Picture: It doesn’t take long for Takeshita to take back control of the match, however, as he starts wearing down Jericho until the Ocho fights back from the corner. It all culminates in a trade of strikes as we come back from break!

Takeshita takes Jericho to the outside before hitting a dive, following up by sending the Ocho back to the ring and leaping off the turnbuckle…but Jericho gets his knees up! Jericho follows up with a Lionsault…but Takeshita gets his knees up as well!

They go at it once more until Takeshita gets a nearfall, and follows with a deadlift wheelbarrow suplex! Jericho manages to fight back however, hitting a Codebreaker for the cover…BUT KONOSUKE KICKS OUT!

Takeshita gets back into it now, dropping Jericho for a Blue Thunder Bomb…but only gets a nearfall! Knee blocked, so is a Judas Effect, and Takeshita hits a knee only to be sent to the corner by Jericho…who gets dropped by Takeshita onto the top turnbuckle!

Takeshita drops Jericho to the canvas with an avalanche Blue Thunder Bomb for the cover…BUT THE OCHO KICKS OUT AGAIN!

Running knee by Takeshita…blocked! Jericho with the Walls, but Callis distracts the ref with a chair before hitting Jericho with a screwdriver to the head! Walls by Takeshita as the ref checks on Jericho, who fights back…until Takeshita locks it in even tighter, forcing Jericho to tap out!

Winner via submission: Konosuke Takeshita

Takeshita and Callis celebrate as they regroup on the stage before we go to commercial.

-Commercial Break-

Back at ringside, Darby Allin and Sting make their way to the ring for our main event! Sting gets to say hello to his family at ringside before the champs come out next, and this match gets underway as all four men go at it!

AEW Tag Team Championship Match (Tornado Tag Match): Ricky Starks and Big Bill (c) defend against Sting and Darby Allin

The match quickly spills to the outside as Bill goes after Darby, and Sting and Starks brawl throughout the crowd. Bill and Darby continue to go at it as we cut to Sting nailing Starks with a bin…only for Starks to retaliate, taking the Icon even further into the crowd!

Bill sends Darby into a guardrail as Starks joins in, but we see Sting up from above..and he leaps from the overhang onto the champs! This turns the tide in the favor of the challengers as we go to picture-in-picture!

Picture-in-Picture: Darby and Sting bring the action back to ringside, taking full advantage of the stipulation to bring steel chairs into play before Darby and Starks get into the ring itself. Starks is in control as we come back from break!

Bill charges at Sting, but the Icon evades and hits a splash on the big man…who responds with a clothesline! Darby goes after Bill with a dive to the outside…but is taken for a ride with a big side slam onto the floor! Bill sends Darby back into the ring before dropping Sting onto the barricade, stepping into the ring to mock Darby…who tries to fight back, to no avail! Bill slams him against the canvas before hoisting him up and dropping him down hard!

Starks calls for more damage, and Bill looks to oblige as he pulls a table out from under the ring and set it up on the outside. Bill back inside, with Starks telling him to lift Darby up…only for Sting to intervene! Sting manages to fight off Starks but is grabbed by the throat by Bill, who sets him up against the ropes…only to get hung up top by the Icon! Big Bill lands on his little Williams as Sting makes the damage worse, and Darby gets a nearfall from this!

Starks gets involved again, only to be sent to the outside as Darby and Sting hit a set of corner splashes on Big Bill…followed by a Code Red from Darby! Bill escapes to the outside but is hit with a Coffin Drop! Starks goes after Sting but is dropped before he gets trapped in a Scorpion Deathlock! Bill tries to climb onto the apron with Darby on his back, before dropping him through the table on the outside as Starks grabs the ropes…but there are no rope breaks! Starks eventually manages to pull himself out of the hold!

Starks pulls off a turnbuckle cover and drives the Icon into it, before landing a spear for a cover…but Sting kicks out! Starks with another spear but it gets caught…and Sting hits the Scorpion Death Drop! Sting with the cover…and gets the pin and the win! We have new champions here at Dynamite!

Winners via pinfall and new AEW World Tag Team Champions: Darby Allin and Sting

Sting and Darby celebrate as the Icon calls for his sons to come in. With them and the crowd applauding, the Icon and his buddy celebrate amidst confetti…only to be blindsided by the Young Bucks with baseball bats! They attack Sting’s sons as well, laying them out as the crowd shows their disapproval.

Darby is bloodied as the Bucks hit the BTE Trigger…or, as we find out from Excalibur, the EVP Trigger…before the beatdown continues on the new champions. After sufficient damage is done, the Bucks lift up the tag titles to a chorus of boos from the crowd as the show comes to a close.
