WWE Night of Champions and the 6/27 episode of WWE SmackDown in Saudi Arabia has a lot of questions marks after the United States bombed Iran.
Iran has said there will be “everlasting consequences” to the United States after airstrikes n on three of the country’s nuclear sites.
Fightful Select notes in a new report, they reached out to WWE representatives in an official capacity regarding the situation and have yet to receive a response. However, one higher up told the publication things are being monitored accordingly.
The report also notes that WWE talent are currently set to travel out mid-week on a charter plane that is scheduled to fly directly into Riyadh. It was added that if this was just a Night of Champions show, it would have been a very small flight, with the ten Superstars that are scheduled to compete on the show. However, the flight is much larger due to the three-hour SmackDown planned from Riyadh as well.
Fightful concludes that Saudi Arabia is preparing as if SmackDown and Night of Champions are still going on as initially planned, with one source working on the events, telling Fightful that its “full steam ahead” as of Sunday. The same source speaking in a matter of opinion, noted that they don’t believe the events will be postponed or canceled, and thought there was too much money at stake with the 2026 Royal Rumble scheduled to take place in the country. The same source further added that “Saudi is one of the safest places in the world” as it relates to the current situation, while another believes WWE has taken all of the necessary steps to ensure the safety of the talent and crew.
Fan events are also said to be planned in Riyadh and will be announced this coming week.
We will provide updates as they become available.
