According to Fightful Select, former WWE Champion Brock Lesnar is said be scheduled to travel to Chicago on Thursday, for this Friday’s WWE SmackDown. The report also states that WWE’s official announcement for Lesnar vs. John Cena for September 20 Wrestlepalooza PLE could happen during Friday’s show.
Lesnar made his surprise return to WWE at SummerSlam, after Cena was defeated by Cody Rhodes for the Undisputed Championship. Lesnar took out Cena with an F-5. This was the first appearance Lesnar made on on WWE TV after losing to Cody Rhodes at SummerSlam in 2023. Lesmar had been set for an earlier return, but it was put on hold after he had been name in Janel Grant’s lawsuit against Vince McMahon and WWE back in January 2024.
WWE did an angle back on the August 22 episode of SmackDown in Ireland, where Cena was outside of the 3Arena, where Nick Aldis told him her had heard from Lesnar. However, before Aldis could say anything, Cena was taken out from behind by Logan Paul.
