Shinsuke Nakamura may have spoiled the outcome of AJ Styles vs. Gunther at the WWE Royal Rumble, which takes place in Saudi Arabia on January 31.
Following his loss to Styles at Saturday Night’s Main Event in Montreal, Nakamura posted a lengthy statement to his Instagram about his long-time history with Styles, noting that when he previously asked Styles about retirement, Styles told him him he already decided it was going to be at the Royal Rumble. Fans on social media captured Nakamura’s post, which he has now deleted.
Whether WWE changes the direction with the outcome between Styles and Gunther at the Rumble remains to be seen, as Styles’ career is on the line. Styles made his WWE debut at the 2016 Royal Rumble as the third entrant. He lasted nearly 30 minutes and was eliminated by Kevin Owens.
Styles and Gunther are scheduled to appear live on Monday’s WWE Raw, which takes place from the Scotiabank Arena in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.
