John Cena’s retirement match generates record revenue for WWE, largest gate in pro wrestling history to date

According to Pollstar data, published by POST Wrestling, John Cena’s retirement match against Gunther back on the December 13, 2025 episode of Saturday Night’s Main Event generated more record revenue for WWE, with a total of $6,553,883. The average ticket price for the event held at the Capital One Arena was $383 before any ticketing fees paid. 17,121 tickets were sold.

The revenue generated from Cena’s retirement match is now the largest gate in pro wrestling history and the largest for WWE in 2025.

This new record surpasses WWE’s previous record set back on January, 5 2025 for the premiere of Monday Night Raw on Netflix at the Intuit Dome in Inglewood, California just outside of Los Angeles. That show brought in a total gate of $4,898,365, with an average ticket price of $300.
