Satur–I mean, Thursday night’s alright for Collidin’!
Commentary welcomes us to the show as Adam Copeland makes his way out to ringside. He takes a microphone, addressing what happened at Dynasty. He says FTR did what they set out to do, while also noting that Cage is not here because he’s getting an MRI. He also addresses the situation about Cage and Cope not getting another shot at the titles. If FTR thinks that this is all over because the pair didn’t win, that they’re gonna tuck their tails and walk away…it ain’t happening.
Cope brings up Cage being retired for seven years before coming back, and himself being retired for nine years, before promising to get their pound of flesh. He is interrupted by the arrival of FTR and Stokely, only to be blindsided by Trent Beretta and Rocky Romero in the ring! FTR slide in to join in the beatdown, until the Young Bucks make their way out for the save. They send RPG Vice down before landing superkicks on the tag champs.
Romero and Trent try to sneak attack them but take a pair of superkicks, with Trent being laid out with a spear by Cope. He shakes hands with the Bucks as FTR and Stoke retreat up the entrance ramp. Cope leaves the ring, leaving us with the Bucks ahead of our opening contest…but first, a word from Jack Perry! He talks about beating Mark Davis before telling Don Callis to pick another of his goons to step up to the champ on Wednesday. I’m almost completely distracted by some random background noise, which I can only assume is Perry’s leather jacket against the National Championship. Anyway, Collision rolls on!
Back at ringside, The Rascalz make their entrance for our first match of the night before we get things underway!
Young Bucks (Matt and Nick Jackson) vs. The Rascalz (Zachary Wentz and Myron Reed)
Elite-related chants as we start things off with Nick and Wentz. The pair lock up, with Nick wringing the arm of Zachary who counters into an arm drag. Nick hits the ropes and lands a wheel kick on Wentz before sending him back to the ropes. Tag made by Matt as the Bucks double-team Wentz, but he gets the tag to Reed. Bucks go to work on the fresher man, landing a German suplex into a sunset flip for good measure.
Reed sent to the corner for a pair of kicks by the Bucks, who turn their attention to Wentz landing a double stomp after a tag to Nick before taking Reed out with a backstabber. Reed starts to fight back, keeping the Bucks away long enough for a tag to Wentz. He gets the Bucks to the outside, setting up for what I can best describe as Poetry in Motion by Reed as he goes flying onto the Bucks on the floor! They bring Nick back into the ring and Wentz bridges off a German suplex, but it’s only good for two as we go to an ad break.
-AD BREAK (ON HBO MAX)-
Back in the ring, Nick hits the ropes to take both Rascalz down before making a tag to Matt, who goes to work on Wentz with a locomotion suplex combo. Wentz sends him to the outside, but he lands a superkick on Reed on the floor before coming back into the ring. Double-team by the Bucks leads to a high-five bulldog sending both Rascalz to the mat. They climb the turnbuckles for a senton bomb and leg drop combo, but Matt’s cover is only good for a two count as Wentz kicks out.
Tag made to Nick as the Bucks continue the attack, leading to a double Sharpshooter before Wentz gets to the ropes to force a break. Bucks land some superkick before Reed dodges one, leading to Matt taking one on the chin. Bucks start to fight back before Wentz lands a cutter off the ropes, and Reed sends Nick down hard to the outside with a dive called the Burnout. Wentz goes up top for a senton, followed by the No Cap Splash by Reed…but Nick breaks the pin at the last second!
“AEW” chant as Wentz hoists Matt up, but Nick breaks things up with a hurricanrana on Reed. Superkick on Wentz is followed by a BTE Trigger on Reed for the cover…but Went breaks that up just in the nick of time! He gets the tag as he goes for a torneo, but he gets caught by the Bucks who look for a TK Driver to no avail. Roll up by Went gets a two count, and he goes after Nick on the apron only to be dropped by Matt…and this allows the Bucks to take the win with a TK Driver!
Winners via pinfall: Young Bucks
Bucks celebrate the win for just a moment, before The Dogs blindside them and the Rascalz in the ring. Desmond Xavier looks to make the save but is laid out by Finlay, before Connors drops Reed with a shoulder block. They bring Wentz into the ring for a Full Clip, before Finlay calls for a mic. He says they may be down a Dog but if you’re gonna kill one of them you have to kill ALL of them. The numbers may change but the mission stays the same. Connors adds a message to the tag division, telling them they’re all about to be screwed.
Their music hits as commentary runs down what’s to come later tonight.
