The winners of the tournament were the team of two legendary Jr. Heavyweights: Koji Kanemoto & El Samurai. They were crowned the new IWGP Jr. Heavyweight Tag Team Champions after winning the Finals. The full results are below.

– The Japanese guys win a title the very first time they ever team together. They are also the first non-Mexican team to ever win those belts:

Rey Mysterio Jr. Upset At WWE Regarding AAA

Recently reports have come out around the net stating that Rey Mysterio Jr. has been upset with WWE as of late. F4Wonline has reported this week that one of those reasons stems from AAA wanting to hold a Rey Mysterio Cup this year in which they hoped Rey would present the winner of the tournament with a trophy. Rey asked WWE permission to do this but they denied it because WWE doesn’t want Rey (or any WWE star) appearing in another promotion whatsoever. One thing to note is that AAA currently has a working agreement with TNA as well right now which could be one problem WWE has with it.

AAA Reveals The Covers for Video Game
This week the covers for AAA’s new video game, coming out in August, were revealed. I say covers because there are different covers for the different game platforms. El Elegido is featured on the cover of XBox 360 and Playstation 3 covers, Silver King is featured on the PSP cover, and Dr. Wagner Jr. is on the Wii cover. Pictures courtesy of www.tierragamer.com.

– Next week’s TV Tapings will feature a match between Joe Lider & Nicho facing Silver King & Ultimo Gladiador. The winning team will move on to TripleMania getting the final spot in the Tag Titles Match.
– The stipulation (as expected) for the La Parka Jr./L.A. Park match is Name vs. Name with the winner of the match winning the La Parka name/gimmick. I believe the last match of this type involved Psicosis II and Nicho with Psicosis II winning it.

Lucha Libre USA/MTV2 Show Update

Some more news about MTV2’s new lucha libre show has hit the web including a new trailer for the show. The show is officially set to debut on June 19th on MTV2 and will tape it’s first shows on June 6th with the 2nd set of tapings on June 19th. The 06/06 taping will take place in Rancho Mirage, California. Also, Lucha Libre USA has revealed the initial talent roster for the promotion which includes Marco Corleone, L.A. Park, Lizmark Jr. (who is wearing his mask again), Mascarita Dorada, Neutron, El Oriental, Pequeno Halloween, Mentallo, Charly Manson, Octagoncito, Salsero, Pierroth Jr., Super Nova, Tinieblas Jr., and Magno. The name of the show that will air on MTV2 will be called “Lucha Libre USA: Masked Warriors”. Also, on 05/22 MTV2 will premier the documentary “Lucha Libre: Behind the Mask” at 1:00 p.m. (central time). One interesting thing to note form the video just released is that several of the stars (including Marco & L.A. Park) are holding a gorgeous looking belt and then the same belt shows up in the center of the group picture of all the stars. I would assume that this will be the promotions first Championship that will probably be decided on the first few shows. Now it’s time for some pictures and the trailer.

My Lucha Libre Life
Today I came across a website (after seeing it on the Lucha Blog) of a kid who is supposedly taking a year off of college to pursue his dream of becoming a luchadore. The idea is pretty insane but interesting at the same time. He will keep everyone updated as his training begins on his website: http://myluchalibrelife.blogspot.com/. This should be interesting at the very least.
