– Mr. Niebla was abscent from his scheduled match with Mistico, no word on if he no-showed or what the deal was.
– Mistico seemed to injure his foot in the Main Event and Hijo de Tirantes was cheating for Volador during the match. Mistico got pissed and yanked Volador’s mask in the 2nd fall (after Volador got a quick pin in the 1st fall) causing the DQ.

– In something huge that happened in the middle of the show Dr. Wagner Jr. came out (wearing his AAA World Heavyweight Title) and posed with his son Dr. Wagner III and then walked around the ring. Wagner claimed in the back to reporters that he was on good terms with AAA and this didn’t mean he was leaving. No one knows for sure what this was about.
– Ruleta de la Muerte came down to the team of Mistico & Oriental against Atlantis & Olimpico. Atlantis & Olimpico eventually ended up beating Mistico & Oriental setting up the big Mask vs. Mask Match which was said to be pretty good. Mistico beat Oriental to take the veteran’s mask.
– Oriental is the 5th mask Mistico has taken. El Oriental has wrestled under that mask for his entire career starting way back in 1992. He had 5 previous Mask/Hair Matches before and had won all previous ones. Oriental’s real name was revealed as Noe Astro Moreno Leon. The following is a picture of the unmasked Oriental:

Dr. Wagner Jr. Drama
This week tons of drama popped up in regards to AAA’s Heavyweight Champion, Dr. Wagner Jr., and his surprising and shocking appearance at a CMLL-promoted show. Wagner appeared after his sons (Dr. Wagner III) match. He wore the AAA Heavyweight Title the whole time and following the show claimed he was in good standing with AAA still. He’s listed on lineups for the next TV Taping as well as AAA’s Lucha Expo show. With all that said he did show up at a CMLL-promoted (yet still technically an INDY show as well) and several sites (including Wrestling Observer) claim that Wagner is working WITHOUT a contract with AAA. No one knows for sure if Wagner could be jumping to CMLL or if he’s doing this as a bargaining chip with AAA to get more money.
AAA Moves Verano de Escandalo Location
This week AAA Vice President, Dorian Roldan, announced that the location for this years “Verano de Escandalo” has been moved from Monterrey to Orizaba, Mexico due to the damage that Hurricane Alex caused to the city. The event will take place on August 6th.

Lucha Libre USA: Masked Warriors Debuts Tonight
Tonight MTV2’s new show “Lucha Libre USA: Masked Warriors” debuts at 10 p.m. eastern (9 central). Nothing has been announced for sure as to what we will see, but if you’re not able to see it when it originally airs MTV2 and MTV-Tres will be airing several replays and I will be recapping the show for WrestleView.
Rapper Fat Joe Speaks on Lucha Libre
This week MTV2 aired an interview with rapper, Fat Joe, where the rapper speaks on growing up watching Lucha Libre. It was a short promo for the new “Masked Warriors” show debuting this Friday night. I, myself, am not a fan of Fat Joe himself (though I’m a huge Rap/Hip-Hop fan) but this was a pretty cool way for them to get some more publicity (though Fat Joe hasn’t been very relevant for the past 5-10 years).
