– Mistico was showing off El Oriental’s mask before the match. He and Psicosis II feuded during the match and it looks like we’re heading towards that feud now.
– Aguila & Garza end the year and a half long reign of Volador Jr. & La Sombra. They are the 30th champions in the belts 17 year existence. Sombra & Volador had successfully defended the belt 8 times before this loss. This is Garza’s 3rd run with these belts (both other times were with Mistico) and this is Aguila’s first time holding these belts. All throughout partners and even family members (like Tiger Kid stopping Puma King from leaving the cage so he himself could get out) turned on each other so they could save their masks. In the end it came to Histeria II, Dr. X, Angel de Oro, and Fabian el Gitano as the final four in the match. Histeria II escaped the cage first and then Angel de Oro accidentally hit Fabian allowing Dr. X to escape the cage. It came down to just Fabian and Oro with Oro getting the win and Fabian being forced to unmask.

Perro Aguayo Jr. Recieves Death Threat

Supposedly the person said they were going to kill Perro and his family if he didn’t pay them a certain amount of money. Because the genius left a message the police are able to trace the phone number and hopefully they will catch them because that is not cool at all.

INDY & OTHER NEWS

Masked Warriors Rating

PWInsider is reporting that the debut episode of MTV2’s Lucha Libre USA: “Masked Warriors” drew a 0.16 which rounds up to a 0.2 rating with just under 200,000 viewers. That is said to be around the average for MTV2 shows. So not bad but not great either for the debut. I would imagine MTV will take into the viewers that the replays on MTV2 and MTV-Tres also got as well.

Some LL-USA Identities
Last night I (and others) were trying to figure out who a few of the new luchadores on “Masked Warriors” were and several of the identities have been revealed:
– Sydistiko is TJP (TJ Perkins) aka Puma but supposedly he has quit the promotion already. No word on whether they will just put someone else under the mask or not.
– Puerto Rican Powers are the tag team Aeroform (Flip Kendrick & Louis Lyndon) which I actually reviewed a match of a few months ago for AIW (http://www.wrestleview.com/viewnews.php?id=1271548069). Previously I had read that it was the NWA tag team of Los Luchas (Phoenix Star & Zokre) but it’s been revealed to be Aeroform. I believe both guys are actually black and not Puerto Rican.

Super Crazy & Hijo de Rey Misterio Signing with New American Promotion
Over the past few weeks tons of news and rumors about a new ‘major’ wrestling promotion in America that will be launching this Fall have been coming in. Nothing solid has been announced at all but one of the newest rumors is that both Super Crazy and Hijo de Rey Misterio have signed on to join the upstart promotion. Again, nothing (not even that the company exists) has been confirmed. One thing to note is that Kevin Kleinrock, who is a big part of Masked Republic and the Viva la Lucha PPVs, has been tied to this new upstart promotion.

Upcoming Viva la Lucha PPV Tapings
This week Kevin Kleinrock of Viva la Lucha stated on his Facebook that some of the matches that take place on the Perros del Mal’s Lucha Expo show will be taped for the THIRD Viva la Lucha PPV called “Retribution.” Also, he stated that Blue Demon Jr., Super Crazy, Hijo de Rey Misterio, TJP, Scorpio Sky, and the Lucha Minis will be featured on the 2nd PPV, but didn’t say how or when the show was being taped. Only saying that “it’s an experiment but it will be cool.” He also said that the NWA Mexico and DTU’s Lucha Expo shows would be taped for PPV but not when the matches will air. Also, PWInsider reported that the second PPV would be titled “Extreme Rebellion” and will air on 08/27. Also, footage from a recent PWR event in Cali would be aired during the PPV. The only match confirmed for next months PPV is a bout between TJP and Scorpio Sky. Mid-week Kevin Kleinrock posted the poster for next month’s “Extreme Rebellion” PPV which is below. On the poster it reads “It’s War between Technicos & Rudos!” and then features Blue Demon Jr. across from Oliver John and also Hijo de Rey Misterio across from Super Crazy. One could guess that either Blue Demon Jr. & Hijo de Rey Misterio vs. Oliver John & Super Crazy (less likely) will headline the PPV or either Oliver John vs. Blue Demon Jr. and Hijo de Rey Misterio vs. Super Crazy in one-on-one matches (more likely) will be headlining the PPVs. The thought of Hijo de Rey vs. Crazy is great.
