CMLL

New Japan Reps Coming to Mexico

It was announced this week that New Japan Pro Wrestling President, Sugabayashi, as well as Tiger Hattori are in Mexico through tonight. They are there to watch the CMLL events during the week as well as to meet with CMLL officials to discuss future talent exchanges for 2011 as well as the big Tokyo Dome show to start the year next year. They are said to have been very happy with the CMLL stars that CMLL sent over this year (Dorada, Sombra, Mistico, etc.) but hope to bring in more guys as well as sending new stars to CMLL.

Mistico Jumping to AAA?
Mexican newspaper/website, Record, posted a story earlier this week that stated that Mistico had talked with Marisela Pena & Dorian Roldan of AAA to discuss him jumping to AAA and appearing at Heroes Inmortales! Only minutes later Dorian Roldan, via his Twitter account, claimed the story was untrue. Record has been reporting about problems in the CMLL lockerroom, including an exclusive statement from Mistico stating that he was unhappy (but he flat out said he wasn’t leaving at that point), as well as a locker room meeting that supposedly went down between the wrestlers and management. The likelihood of Mistico jumping to AAA at this point is highly unlikely and many people think this is his attempt to get CMLL’s attention and get a fatter contract. IF he did jump it would be easily the biggest jump in Lucha Libre possibly ever.

CMLL Star in Science Text Book
Showing just how much influence Lucha Libre has in Mexico and just how big it is there, SuperLuchas revealed a picture of a Mexican Science text book that features a picture of CMLL star, Stuka Jr., performing an Asai Moonsault in a chapter covering gravity. The picture is below:

AAA

AAA Star Signs with TNA?

It has been reported by several sites this week that AAA star, El Zorro, has either signed a contract with TNA (with the blessing of AAA) or was at the very least offered a contract by TNA. All of this stems from Jeff Jarrett’s meeting with AAA officials over the past week. Dixie Carter is said to have watched a tape of Zorro and was very impressed with him. One site claimed that Zorro is expected to start with TNA as soon as Bound for Glory and I would expect that Zorro is definitely on his way to TNA. He hasn’t been doing a whole lot in AAA over the past couple of years and going to TNA would mean he can still work for AAA as well. Also, Jarrett and TNA are said to be interested in bringing in Extreme Tiger, Jack Evans, and other high flyers (Aerostar? Laredo Kid? Tigre Cota? Super Fly? Billy Boy? Los Stones?). AAA is very interested in bringing in the TNA Tag Team Champions, Motor City Machine Guns, who have experience in Mexico. They wrestled several times for CMLL when TNA and CMLL had a working relationship and even won the Trios Titles with Sonjay Dutt.

AAA to Host GHC Heavyweight Title Match
This week Japan’s Pro Wrestling NOAH announced that tonight GHC Heavyweight Champion, Takashi Sugiura, would defend his title against an to be announced AAA star at a AAA event. NOAH claims that this title match is stemming from a request that Antonio Pena made way back in 2006 before he died for AAA to hold a GHC Title Match.

War Games Coming to AAA
This past weekend AAA announced that the Steel Cage Match pitted a team representing AAA against a team representing La Militia would actually be contested under War Games rules! The old WCW steel cage match that saw entrances come in every few minutes. In WCW’s version the only way to win was submission but I don’t think that’s how this match will go.

AAA 10/01 “Heroes Inmortales” TV Taping Lineup
1) Crazy Boy, Esther Moreno, Octagoncito II, & Pasion Kristal vs. Tigre Cota, Jennifer Blade, Mini Psicosis, & Yuriko

This week Dragon Gate USA announced the Main Event for their very first LIVE iPPV on October 29th from Fall River, MA. BxB Hulk will defend his Open the Freedom Gate Championship against Shingo Takagi! Also, the next night in Rahway, NJ Masato Yoshino will go one-on-one with YAMATO but Yoshino’s title will NOT be on the line.

DGUSA 09/25 “Untouchable ’10” PPV Taping Chicago, IL Results

– PRE-SHOW: 3-Way: Silas Young def. Gran Akuma & Samuray del Sol
– PRE-SHOW: Arik Cannon def. Kyle O’Reilly
1) 3-Way Dance: BxB Hulk def. Akira Tozawa & Mike Quackenbush

7) NON-PPV MAIN EVENT: Bryan Danielson def. YAMATO
* NOTES *
– Semi-Main was said to have been a very good match.
– I’m actually looking for some confirmation on the Billy Rayz in the Pre-Show opener. There is a Billy Rayz that wrestles down here on the Gulf Coast and I’ve seen a few times in person but I’m not sure if that’s him or someone else.
– Ricochet wrestles in CHIKARA as Helios. After the match CIMA named him the newest member of Warriors International.

DGUSA 09/26 “Way of the Ronin” Milwaukee, WI Results
– PRE-SHOW: Flip Kendrick & Louis Lyndon def. CJ Esparza & Brett Gakiya

7) Shingo Takagi, YAMATO, & Akira Tozawa def. Masato Yoshino, Naruki Doi, & BxB Hulk
* NOTES *
– The show was said to have been very good, even better than the night before.
– The show was delayed due to having problems with the ring arriving on time. They had to find a replacement ring and the show started about 2-3 hours late.
– One thing I am VERY disappointed about is that they changed the announced Quackenbush vs. Dragon match to Dragon vs. Arik Cannon (horrible match up in my opinion) and stuck Quack in the random 6-man match. Supposedly Quack suffered an arm injury the night before.
