New Japan Stars to Mexico

Already in 2010 Ultimo Guerrero and Averno have traveled to Japan to compete in NJPW and El Terrible, Texano Jr., and Shigeo Okumura are going in February. Now CMLL announced that in 2010 Taichi Ishikara, Giant Bernard (formerly Prince Albert in WWE), Jushin Thuder Liger, and Hiroshi Tanahashi. I believe this would be Bernard & Taichi’s first time in Mexico. The only date that’s been announced so far for any of them is Taichi coming in on 02/14. Taichi and fellow New Japan youngster Kazuchika Okada, are going on extended international tours. Okada will be heading over to TNA Wrestling in America while Taichi is heading south of the border to CMLL. Taichi has been competing in New Japan’s Jr. Heavyweight Tag Team Division with former Toryumon (Dragon Gate when Ultimo Dragon still owned it) standout Milano Collection AT. This week Milano announced his retirement stemming from a severe eye injury that has never healed properly. Taichi is an 8 year pro that has competed all over Japan including stints in HUSTLE, All Japan, and now his home in New Japan. Some may remember Taichi for his appearance in TNA’s 2004 World X-Cup (the very first World X-Cup). He competed (and lost) in a Battle Royal as well as a Ladder Match. He was the first man eliminated in the Battle Royal and then took part in a 4-Way Ladder Match against Eric Young (Canada), Jerry Lynn (USA), and Mr. Aguilta (Mexico). Taichi failed to win the match which resulted in Team Japan being eliminated from the Tournament. This will be Taichi’s first experience in Mexico and he is expected to spend considerable time there much like No Limit last year.

AAA News

This week’s Wrestling Observer reported that AAA is discussing a shakeup on the creative team as well as possible renewing their former relationship with TNA Wrestling in America (I was under the impression TNA and CMLL still had a working relationship). Also, AAA wants to have a bigger impact in American wrestling and plans to bring in more outside talent. Teddy Hart is said to be on a short leash with AAA and if he makes many more mistakes could be gone soon. Black Warrior is (like I said last week) expected to start soon with AAA but Heavy Metal is also rumored to be coming back in as well.

AAA Holds Tryouts
This Tuesday AAA held open tryouts in Van Nuys, California at the Fit Pit Pro Wrestling School. No signings resulted from those tryouts but AAA will be holding more tryouts, this time in Los Angeles, soon and some from the first tryouts are going to be called back for these set of tryouts. AAA is hoping to find some new, fresh talent to bring in.
