CMLL Star Murdered

Thursday CMLL star Fabian el Gitano passed away after suffered a gun shot wound which website Notimex calls “the result of a drunken dispute.” There’s not many more details right now but hopefully next week more will be available. Gitano has wrestled for CMLL for the past 7 years and he was trained by the legendary Solar. Gitano’s biggest match was his Mask loss in the Infierno en el Ring last year when Angel de Oro took his mask.

Dark Angel/Sarita Wins TNA Gold
This past Sunday at TNA’s “Victory Road” PPV CMLL and TNA star Sarita (Dark Angel in CMLL) won her 2nd TNA Knockouts Tag Team Championship when she and her “cousin” Rosita defeated the Champions, Angelina Love & Winter, at the PPV. Sarita was 1/2 of the very first Knockouts Tag Champs back in 2009 when she and Taylor Wilde won the Tournament to crown the 1st Champions. Sarita, Taylor Wilde, and Hamada are the only 3 Knockouts to win the Titles twice. She and Rosita are part of Hernandez’s new all Mexican group.

Heavy Metal Arrested

AAA star Heavy Metal was arrested Friday morning on a D.U.I. and was sentenced to 30 hours in jail. He served 7 hours and was released. He was serve the rest of the sentence at a later date. No word if this will affect his stance in AAA, but now I know who I’m picking to lose the Hair Match at Rey de Reyes.

– Billy el Malo is apparently the new name for Billy Boy as he was revealed to be Los Bizarros mystery partner. Kind of a weird thing for him to jump from La Militia to the Bizarros. He got the pin on Zorro after a fake Zorro (in the Iron Mask) distracted him.

DRAGON GATE

Earthquake Affect On Dragon Gate

Following the devastating Earthquakes in Japan this past weekend no one from the Dragon Gate roster or staff were injured and only one date has been canceled thus far (03/18 in Shizuoka due to a power outage). Also, Dragon Gate has cancelled the 03/20 “Compilation Gate” PPV which was going to feature 3 Title Matches, a #1 Contenders Match, and the return of Taku Iwasa. There was fear over the possibility of radioactive material reaching the area (from one of the blow Nuclear Plants) as well as ongoing power outages there. Dragon Gate hasn’t made any comments on whether they would be making the date up for the PPV or not. Dragon Gate is taking up donations for a relief fund at events. Americans Ronin (Chuck Taylor, Johnny Gargano, & Rich Swann) and Ricochet were on tour in Japan during the Earthquake. Over at DGUSA.tv Dragon Gate USA will be donating 20% of all DVD sales this week to the Red Cross Japan Earthquake & Pacific Tsunami Relief Fund.

Akira Tozawa, Super Shisa, & KAGETORA. Team Captain Akira Tozawa and Super Shisa are not affiliated with any stables in Dragon Gate while KAGETORA is a member of Kamikaze. The only team left to be announced is Tim Donst’s partners for Team BdK.

* NOTES *
– CHIKARA had been teasing Kingston going face-to-face with “The Band” and the Band was revealed to be Archibald Peck and Veronica. I have no idea who they are and I’ve been following CHIKARA for a long time so either a) I just don’t remember (and can’t find any info on them anywhere) or b) they are new and debuting. BDK attacked Kingston before the match and after they left The Band came out and the match got underway. It lasted barely 5 minutes and Kingston took Peck out with the Backfist To The Future.
– Before the Relevos Atomicos (8-Man Tag) STIGMA & Gerard came out in street clothes claiming someone stole their ring gear. The match was said to be a crazy one and Mathews pinned Gerard with a reversal of a rollup.
– CHIKARA gave a little preview of King of Trios with two teams that will be in the Tournament (The Osirian Portal & The Batiri). Kobald tried interfered in the match causing The Batiri to get DQ’d. Maybe a rematch at KOT.

– Kizarny beat Black and tore his mask up in the process in their Grudge Match.
– The Colony took the 1st fall in the Tag Titles Match and then QuackSaw won the final 2 falls to retain their belts. It went just under 20 minutes.
– The Kingston-Castagnoli match finally took place after over a years worth of feuding and after a wild brawl Claudio wrapped a chain around his arm and hit a European Uppercut for the win. After the match BDK then ran out and held Kingston down and Claudio beat him with a belt.

* NOTES *
– Looks like LL-USA is finally bringing in more Women/Luchadoras.
– We found out after the last tapings that the new Right member Jon Rekon is actually CMLL’s Strong Man.
– Heavyweight Champion Lizmark Jr. is not listed on here and he will likely be in Mexico for Rey de Reyes. This is the first time they’ve announced a lineup before a taping I think.
– I made a remark to Marco Corleone that they needed to announce the start date for Season 2 before doing another TV Taping which he responded by saying “I feel you, patiently waiting for a start date. Should get one soon.” So at least they’re not ignoring the problem. He also told me to ask him if I had any questions about anything in the future (for the column) which I will definitely be doing.
