AAA

AAA Loses U.S. TV Spot

The last few weeks AAA’s weekly TV show on Galavision has not been airing, but neither AAA or Galavision never released a single word about this. I (and others) thought it was simply being pre-empted for something else for a few weeks (soccer?), but this week Galavision posted a response on their official Facebook saying that they had indeed DROPPED AAA from it’s lineup. Their reasoning is that CMLL is in HD so they are staying on TV, AAA has yet to switch to HD so they dropped it. Galavision wants HD programming and Dorian Roldan did claim that they were upgrading to HD after TripleMania, but it still hasn’t happened. What does this mean? No one really knows, if AAA finally upgrades I would assume Galavision will put them back on the lineup, but if not who knows what will happen there.

Jack Evans In TNA
This week AAA Tag Team & Cruiserweight Champion, Jack Evans, made his return to TNA Wrestling on Impact Wrestling. Evans competed in a Three Way Dance where the winner advances to next Sunday’s “Destination X” PPV. Evans beat young high flyers Tony Nees & Jesse Sorrenson. At DX Evans will face off against Low-Ki, Zema Ion (also a former AAA star who wrestled as Shiima Xion in AAA), and Austin Aries in a Fatal 4-Way where the winner earns a contract with TNA. Evans’ match will air on the upcoming episode of Impact Wrestling (July 7th). Though, Jack Evans, is being billed as “new and debuting” star in this 3-Way, he actually competed for TNA back in 2004 as a part of the first Team Canada in the second Americas X-Cup. Evans is the first AAA star to compete for TNA since the talent exchange agreement with the two companies started last year.

AAA In NOAH
From July 16-30 AAA’s Jack Evans & Aerostar will be competing in the 5th Annual NOAH-NTV Cup Jr. Heavyweight Tag Team Tournament. INDY & OTHER NEWS

New Promotion Starts Up

This week a brand new Lucha promotion in Mexico held it’s first Press Conference. The new promotion is called Lucha POP (Promotion Original Pro-Lucha). This promotion is presumably being run by people formerly associated with DTU and the lineup for their debut event (listed below in the Lineups section) features several AAA stars as well as former DTU stars. Most notably DTU Champion Joe Lider is listed in the Main Event against Extreme Tiger. Lucha POP claims to want to be more than just a hardcore promotion (like DTU) and wants to present all styles of wrestling as well as American stars (they claim to have talent agreements with CZW and CHIKARA) and will be working with AAA as well. Their shows will be taped for DVD to be sold on the Smark Mark Video website (www.smarkmarkvideo.com) who also produces CZW and CHIKARA’s events on DVD. They want to tour all over Mexico as well as America too. Their first event will be held on 07/17 from Arena Lopez Mateos in Mexico City. AAA stars Dark Dragon, Fenix, Ultimo Gladiador, Extreme Tiger, and Joe Lider will be working the event as well as American indy star Samuray del Sol and Shiima Xion who just recently wrestled on Impact Wrestling for TNA and will be competing at their upcoming “Destination X” PPV.

Viva la Lucha At Comic Con
At this years Comic Con (July 21-23) Lucha Libre will be invading the annual convention with the Viva la Lucha promotion. VLL will be debuting new merchandise at the event which is being designed by JRS Merchandising (which handles merchandise for Pink Floyd, Cartoon Network’s Adult Swim, AC/DC, and more). Also, several VLL stars will be signing autographs throughout the convention. On July 21st Solar I, Hijo de Rey Misterio, and AAA’s Konnan will be signing; on July 22nd AAA’s L.A. Park, Manny Peeples, Black Tiger, Buggy, & Puma will be signing; and finally on July 23rd former NWA Champion Adam Pearce and former WWE star Sinn “Kizarny” Bhodi (and his wife and former WWE Diva The Kat) will be signing.

Chavo Guerrero Jr. Released from WWE
This past weekend the WWE released longtime WWE star Chavo Guerrero Jr. from his contract with the company. Chavo was of course a member of the famed Guerrero Wrestling Family, the son of Chavo Classic (Chavo Guerrero Sr.) and nephew of Eddie Guerrero. Chavo had been a part of the WWE since 2001 when WWE purchased the WCW (where he had wrestled since 1996). Guerrero’s early career before WCW consisted of wrestling all over Mexico and Japan much like his uncle Eddie. Chavo is most known for his feud with Eddie in WCW as well as his long time tag team with Eddie in WWE as Los Guerreros as well as his feud with CM Punk in the WWE’s ECW. Chavo’s final feud in WWE was with Sin Cara. Chavo is a former 4-time WWE Cruiserweight Champion, 2-time WCW Cruiserweight Champion, 1-time WCW Tag Team Champion, 2-time WWE Tag Team Champion, and 1-time ECW Champion. In the last several Chavo was the subject of several embarrassing moments including his feud with Hornswoggle, his feud with Santino that resulted in a Hog Pen Match, and his record 8-second loss to Kane at WrestleMania XXIV. It’s uncertain whether or not Chavo is under a 90-day No Compete Clause (but it’s likely) but TNA or a return to Lucha Libre (AAA or CMLL either one) are both viable options for the 20-year veteran.
