Hector Garza & Atlantis Switch Sides
At a Press Conference this week CMLL announced that Atlantis & Hector Garza have officially switched from the rudo to the tecnico side (what an exciting way for them to turn, NOT). This means that Garza has officially left Los Invasors which means Volador will likely be the new leader. Also, Atlantis is now officially split from Los Guerreros de la Atlantida. Ultimo Guerrero has said before that Rey Escorpion will likely be a new member of the group, which means he will probably replace Atlantis. I guess we can go back to just calling the group Los Guerreros del Infierno.

INDY & OTHER NEWS

Sin Cara Returns to TV…Sort of

This week at the Smackdown tapings Sin Cara made his return, his first appearance since Money In The Bank, after his wellness violation. The only problem is that it was actually the former Hunico/Incognito under the mask rather than Mistico. One huge problem here is that Hunico is a good 3 inches taller and 20 pounds heavier than Mistico/Sin Cara. One interesting thing as well is that Hunico had a public feud with Mistico and CMLL a few years ago over the “Mistico” name. Hunico was using the “Mystico” name at the time. It’s being reported that WWE simply wanted to get the character back on TV as soon as possible because of the merchandise sales, but it’s still unclear if Mistico will return to the character or if Hunico will remain under the hood.

Mistico Rumors
Usually I don’t comment on a ton of rumors but this one is pretty big. As I said earlier Hunico appeared under the Sin Cara mask this week at the Smackdown taping. Wrestling Observer reported that there had been talk of possibly doing a Sin Cara vs. Evil Sin Cara (Hunico) story after Sin Cara returned leaving many to believe that Sin Cara definitely was staying in WWE. Then, on Thursday rumors started to circulate (mainly from SuperLuchas and other sites) that Mistico/Sin Cara was gone from WWE and already back in Mexico. Nothing has been confirmed either way (and may not for awhile) yet, but supposedly Hunico was told by the WWE that he would be on the Mexico City Smackdown tapings so that means either a) he’s going to completely take over the Sin Cara gimmick or b) the Sin Cara vs. Sin Cara feud will definitely happen.

Super Crazy Returning to Japan
This week Japanese promotion Pro Wrestling Zero1 announced (most of) the participants for this years Tenka-Ichi Jr. Tournament coming up in September. Super Crazy is the lone Luchador being brought into the Tournament. Also, an as of yet unnamed Dragon Gate star, will take part in the Tournament along with other Jr. Heavyweight’s Mineo Fujita, the legendary high flyer Ikuto Hidaka, Takafumi Ito, Takuya Sugawara, Munenori Sawa, Fujita Jr. Hayato, Kaijin Habu Otoko, and Austrailian Robby Heart.

First Matches Set for CHIKARA’s Young Lions Cup IX

Also, in 12-Large Summit Action Sara del Ray will face Hallowicked and UltraMantis Black will go one-on-one with Jigsaw. Also, Matt Jackson of The Young Bucks will go one-on-one with Johnny Gargano for the first time ever. On Night 2 on 08/28 in Easton, PA will see the Semifinals & Finals of the YLC along with 2 more 12-Large Summit Matchups. Fire Ant will face Vin Gerard and Claudio Castagnoli will face Icarus. CHIKARA Presents JoshiMania
Officially CHIKARA’s 2011 season (or year) ends with the November 13th “High Noon” event in Philly, but for the first time ever CHIKARA has decided to present a special “Post Season” weekend event in December. It will be called “JoshiMania” and will feature female wrestling stars from all over the world competing over a 3 night weekend (December 2-4). While not many names have been confirmed, legendary Joshi stars from Japan Manami Toyota and the legendary AJA KONG have been! The trailer for the event is below:

Dr. X Update
Following the news last week of Dr. X’s departure from CMLL, he held a Press Conference on Friday to discuss the issue. He said that CMLL owns the Dr. X name and gimmick so he will go on as Dr. Xtreme from now on. He said that he has had talks with AAA but said they hadn’t agreed to anything. He did say that he’s already signed on with Perros del Mal to do events with them. He was even wearing a Perros del Mal t-shirt at his Press Conference.

CHIKARA Announces More Young Lions Cup Competitors
This week CHIKARA has announced more YLC Competitors for this years Tournament to be held at the end of this month. Along with the competitors announced last week CHIKARA announced this week that the youngest member of the S.A.T. Wil Maximo, the UK’s Mark Andrews, ROH trainee Milo Shizo, Australian Robbie Eagles (the brother-in-law of Madison Eagles), and the bizarre Will-O-Wisp II have been added. One of the more interesting entrants is Milo Shizo or should I say Professor Milo Shizo. I have personally never seen him before but CHIKARA says that he was trained at the ROH Wrestling Academy by Delirious and his mask is very much influence by Delirious. His whole gimmick is that he was a Chemistry Professor and had an experiment that went wrong and made him kind of nutty as well as altering his face (resulting in him wearing the mask to cover it). This character definitely belongs in CHIKARA. 14 of the 16 competitors have been confirmed, the final two will be announced next week.
– Green Ant
– Chase Owens
– Archibald Peck
– Jakob Hammermeier
– Mat Fitchett
– Sean South
– Nick Jackson
– Gregory Iron

– Milo Shizo

– Will-O-Wisp II
