Firstly, this week I have to say Happy Independents Day to all the Mexican and Mexican-American readers out there. El Grito de la Independencia!

Leyenda de Plata Returns
CMLL also announced this week that the Leyenda de Plata Tournament would be returning. CMLL hasn’t held this formerly annual tournament (which honors the legendary El Santo) since 2008. Mistico won the last 3 Leyenda de Plata Tournaments (2006, 2007, and 2008). Typically the winner of the Tournament faces the previous years winner but since Mistico is the reigning winner that won’t happen. The Tournament starts on 09/23 with the first Block, and then the second block will take place on 09/30, with the finals on 10/07. Each block will be a 12-man Cibernetico.

CMLL/REINA Crown 1st Champion
This past weekend in Japan the very first CMLL/REINA International Jr. Women’s Champion was crowned when REINA’s Ray defeated CMLL’s Zeuxis in the Tournament finals.

Sin Cara (the original) FINALLY Returns
After several weeks of questions the original Sin Cara (Mistico) returned at this week’s WWE Smackdown! tapings. Sin Cara II (Hunico) had been DQ’d (after turning heel last week as well) in his match with Daniel Bryan after going crazy on him, and then Sin Cara (Mistico) made his return and had a faceoff with his counterpart. There has been talk that one which get a wardrobe change (likely just color) but still no one really knows how this thing will develop.

Super Crazy in Japan
This week Super Crazy took part in Zero-1’s Tenka-Ichi Jr. Heavyweight Tournament. He faced and defeated Ikuto Hidaka in the 1st Round, but then fell to Mineo Fujita in the Quarterfinals. Crazy will stick around for a little while following the Tournament.
