AAA Filming Reality Show
This past week AAA began filming a reality show called “El Regreso del Abismo Negro” (The Return of Abismo Negro) which is a contest to find the new Abismo Negro. 12 YOUNG luchadores will compete to win the right to be the new Abismo Negro. There are several known stars in this contest, including a few AAA stars. The wrestlers that currently work for AAA are Argos, Relampago, Dark Dragon. IWRG star Hijo del Pirata Morgan is also in the competition along with indy stars Black Mamba, Alas de Plata, Black Fire, Abadon, Ultimo Vampiro, Lasserman, Kronos, & Garra de Aguila. What has really angered some fans is that after the original Abismo Negro died, AAA came out and said they would retire the character and not create a new one. This is not sitting well with alot of fans.

Chavo Guerrero Drama in Tijuana
2 weeks ago the father-son combo of Chavo Guerrero Sr. & Chavo Guerrero Jr. were scheduled to appear at an indy show in Tijuana, but neither appeared. The Tijuana Box y Lucha Commission held a press conference this week to explain the issues. They claim that they were doing random drug tests for stars on that card and Chavo Jr.’s name came up, but Sr. wouldn’t allow it to happen. The Commission asked Jr. one more time before the event and he agreed to do it, but again Chavo Sr. stepped in and wouldn’t let it happen. The Commission also claimed that Chavo sr. was drinking heavily before the show. One thing to note is that Rey Misterio Sr. is the new Lucha Commissioner in Tijuana and he has been ruffling some feathers by having his son Hijo de Rey Misterio charge for public appearances to promote shows he is to appear on (which is typically something the stars do for free leading up to shows) as well as claims by some that he is forcing promoters to book Hijo de Rey Misterio on their shows. I asked Chavo Guerrero Jr. if he wanted to respond to the claims but I got no response.
Sin Cara vs. Sin Cara
At this week’s WWE Friday Night Smackdown taping Hunico (still going by the Sin Cara name) debuted a new black look and challenged the original Sin Cara to a match at WWE’s Hell In A Cell PPV this Sunday. Sin Cara II (Hunico) said that the winner would be the “real” Sin Cara so either this will the end to the feud (quickly) or afterward Sin Cara II will have a new name or go back to using Hunico. Davey Richards Coming to IWL
This week IWL announced that ROH Heavyweight Champion, Davey Richards, would be appearing for IWL on 10/14. Richards will be teaming with Juventud Guerrera in a tag team match against Super Crazy and Daga.
MEXPW Officially Opens
This week the Perros del Mal & XPW collaboration, now known as MEXPW, officially opened up a website and held a press conference to announce the partnership. The website (http:mexpw.com) features links to their Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube accounts along with videos from their recent show together as well as their official Press Releases. Events, Roster, Store, and Tickets sections are there but are still being created. MEXPW announced that starting in January the promotion would start running regular shows in both Southern California and Mexico. Interestingly enough Perros del Mal founder and leader, Perro Aguayo Jr., isn’t mentioned anywhere in the new press release and Damian 666 is talked about as the leader of the group. I’m not sure what that means.
