AAA

AAA Injury News

AAA stars Drago suffered an elbow injury (dislocated elbow and possible ligament damage) several weeks ago and Argos suffered a dislocated shoulder. Both will be out for at least two months with those injuries. Crazy Boy, who hasn’t been seen in AAA for quite some time, had knee surgery some time back but the surgery didn’t go well so he was forced to have a second one. Crazy will be out until sometime in 2012. At the last TV Taping Relampago injured his ankle and will be out for some time (likely sprained ankle). Mortiz & Semental are both out until 2012 due to “personal reasons.”

Dark Family Back In Japan
AAA’s Dark Family (Ozz & Cuervo) returned to Japan this week for another leg of their tour there where they even defended their newly won AJPW Tag Team Titles. They aren’t currently booked on any of the future November events but All Japan will be holding their World’s Strongest Tag League Tournament in November and December with the winning team getting a shot at the Dark Family’s Tag Titles so they will likely be back at the end of the year or the top of next year.

Konnan then stripped Super Fly of his leadership over La Milicia and made Octagon the new leader. Octagon said he was going to strike back against everyone that had ever crossed him and if you recall last year when Super Fly turned rudo he attacked Octagon. Octagon told Milicia to beat Super Fly down and they destroyed him in the center of the ring officially kicking him out of the group.
– L.A. Park cost Wagner the match in the Semi Main Event. Then, Park pinned Zorro clean in the Main Event. Wagner ran out and jumped L.A. Park, Octagon ran out and attacked Wagner and Mesias. Zorro helped the tecnicos fight back to reaffirm he’s good again.

INDY & OTHER NEWS

More On Rey Misterio vs. Rey Misterio Feud

Following the angle that was done last week with the original El Hijo de Rey Misterio returning to wrestling by attacking the new El Hijo de Rey Misterio, the original spoke out this week. He said that he suffered an injury and the new Hijo de Rey Misterio was brought in to work under the mask while he was injured, but he’s back and wants his name back. They seem to be setting up a feud over the name (and maybe mask), and it’s pretty much just a ripoff of the Sin Cara stuff in WWE. The original El Hijo de Rey Misterio is actually the son of Rey Misterio Sr. (and cousin of Rey Misterio Jr.) while the new one isn’t related at all, he was just recruited by Rey Sr. to use the gimmick. Most people have no problem saying that the newer Hijo de Rey is the far better worker either.

More Lucha/WWE Try Outs Info
In this week’s Wrestling Observer they revealed that former CMLL and Lucha Libre USA mini star Mascarita Dorada not only tried out for WWE but the WWE also offered him a contract! Dorada was said to have really impressed the WWE during his try out. Hornswoggle is really the only person close to Dorada’s size (Mascarita Dorada is 4’5″ and Hornswoggle is 4’6″) but Hornswoggle is really much of a wrestler and isn’t even used much now. The question is whether WWE would bring in more minis (Pequeno Halloween?) to work with Dorada or if they would use him as a special attraction and let him work with more cruiserweight type wrestlers which he can and has done. Several other stars are also expected to be offered try outs but with VISA issues, paperwork, and previously committed dates it is likely this will take some time before they show up in WWE’s Florida Championship Wrestling. Averno is said to still be waiting on word from the WWE on his status.

Best of 2011
This week LuchaBlog put up his Best of 2011 (Vol. 1) with videos of the best matches of 2011 (in his opinion) on his blog: http://www.thecubsfan.com/cmll/?p=13374#more-13374

First Match for JoshiMania Announced
This week CHIKARA Pro announced that the first match signed for December’s “JoshiMania” special events will be Japanese women’s wrestling legend Aja Kong going one-on-one with Meiko Satomura!

Sin Cara vs. Hunico Round 2
On last week’s WWE Friday Night Smackdown Sin Cara faced and defeated Epico, who is actually Orlando/Tito Colon (cousin of Primo and Carlito Colon). Epico was the tag team partner for Hunico for a long time while the two were in FCW together. Epico, however, wrestled unmasked in this match instead of the Epico mask he wore in FCW. After the match Hunico ran out and attacked Sin Cara. Hunico is no longer wearing the Sin Cara Negro gear and was dressed like a stereotypical Spanish gang banger (think L.A.X. or Mexican America). Together Hunico and Epico beat down Sin Cara and an alliance was suggested but never acknowledged on TV. At this week’s tapings Hunico, Epico, and Epico’s cousin Primo teamed together in a match but Sin Cara wasn’t involved in the angle. They seem to be building the Hunico team as a sort of Latin Freebirds.
