CMLL Announces New Tournament
CMLL has decided on a new “youngsters” tournament much like last year’s Forjano un Idolo Tournament. This one will be called “En Busca de un Idolo” and will be a points based tournament. 8 young luchadors will compete in Lightning Matches on Tuesday & Friday Arena Mexico events where the winners get points. Also, a panel of judges will give out points based on personality, charisma, character, and fan reaction and there will also be a internet vote from the fans to add more points. Yep, this will end up JUST as confusing as the last one. The judges for the tournament will be Tirantes (referee), Miguel Linares (referee), Maximo (exotico), and Negro Casas (veteran). 20 points for a win, 10 points from each judge will be given out as well. The tournament begins on 04/27. The participants for the tournament are below:
1) Titan
2) Triton
3) Dragon Lee
4) Diamante
5) Puma King
6) Euforia
7) Polvora
8) Niebla Roja
Kensuke Sasaki Coming to CMLL
The Wrestling Observer reported this week that Japanese legend Kensuke Sasaki would be coming into CMLL in May. This is interesting since Sasaki is technically a part of Pro Wrestling NOAH and NOAH has a deal with AAA while CMLL primarily just works with New Japan. In the past year New Japan and NOAH have been working together though so maybe this isn’t as much of a big deal as it would have been years ago.
Angel de Oro to Japan
This week New Japan Pro Wrestling announced the 18 entrants into their annual Best of Super Juniors Tournament (which starts May 27th) and CMLL’s Angel de Oro has been confirmed for the event. Also, former CMLL & AAA star Alex Koslov has been signed to the event. Dragon Gate’s PAC is as well. Best of the Super Juniors kicks off May 27th and finishes up June 10th. The full list of participants is below:
– Prince Devitt (NJPW)
– Ryusuke Taguchi (NJPW)

Halloween Returns to Perros del Mal, Mascarita Dorada/AAA
This week Perros del Mal & Halloween announced that Halloween had re-signed with Perros del Mal only weeks after announcing that (along with Damian 666, Bestia 666, and several others) had left the group. Halloween had said he was unhappy with PdM before and that he didn’t like the way he was treated, but neither side gave any explanation on why he was returning. Also, Wrestling Observer said this week that AAA gave Mascarita Dorada an ultimatum, either AAA or TxT. Dorada had been appearing for Santo’s TxT promotion as well as AAA but AAA has had enough and Dorada sided with AAA.
Nicho Officially Returning as Psicosis
For a few weeks AAA has been hyping up the “return” of Psicosis and speculation was that this would be the 4th version of the character made popular in the 90’s by Nicho el Millonario, but this week a lineup for one of the upcoming TV Tapings was released and Psicosis was listed as teaming with Perros del Mal leading to speculating that Nicho may be returning to the gimmick that made him a star. Then, the Wrestling Observer confirmed this week that Nicho will, in fact, be donning the Psicosis mask once more. At the last TV tapings Joe Lider threw a fireball into Nicho’s face and AAA is playing it up as he was burned very badly and this will be the reason he returns to the mask. The question now will be if Psicosis returns to his old great technical and high flying style or will he just continue with the brawling and hardcore style he’s relied on over the past several years. Nicho hasn’t appeared as the masked Psicosis since 2004 and hasn’t used the “Psicosis” name since his WWE run in 2005-2006.

* NOTES *
– The Psicosis in the 3rd match is the one they’ve been hyping as “returning” and all signs point to it being Nicho under the mask, the original Psicosis. They did a bit where Lider shot a fire ball into Nicho’s face at the last taping saying his face is “burned” which is likely the reason they will have for him going back under the mask.
– Juvi & Lider are officially being called The Mexican Powers again.
Blue Demon Jr. to Star In American Movie
This week it was revealed that Lucha Libre legend Blue Demon Jr. will be co-starring in Mel Gibson’s upcoming action movie “Get The Gringo” which is set in a rough Mexican prison. Demon’s part is unclear and the name of his character have not been revealed but during the trailer you can see a luchador (which looks to be Demon) diving onto another luchador in a wrestling match as Gibson’s character is running around Mexico. “Get The Gringo” begins airing on Video OnDemand (rather than in theaters or on DVD) on May 1st in the United States.
