Best of the Super Juniors
This week New Japan Pro Wrestling announced the lineups and blocks for this year’s Best of the Super Juniors Tournament which kicks off on 05/27 and goes through 06/10. CMLL’s Angel de Oro will be taking part in this year’s tournament as well as former CMLL & AAA star Alex Koslov, Dragon Gate USA star PAC, and former AAA & CMLL star Rocky Romero. Joining Angel de Oro, PAC, and Rocky Romero in Block A will be Jushin Thunder Liger, Prince Devitt, KUSHIDA, Tetsuya Bushi, Gedo, and Taichi. Volador In Trouble with Management
The Wrestling Observer reported last week that CMLL management “reprimanded” Volador (but didn’t say how) after being “too aggressive and stiff” with Prince Devitt in their matches. Some have thought it may have been over having to drop his belt to Devitt. One move in particular that was noted was a springboard dropkick to the back of Devitt that he was said to be unaware was coming.

TripleMania Moved to August, Night of Champions
This week AAA confirmed that this year’s “TripleMania” will take place in August rather than the usual June (this after rumors started that it would be held in July) so it looks World Champion El Mesias should be back for TripleMania. What this does is messes up plans for “Verana de Escandalo” which typically takes place in July or August and means we likely just won’t have one this year because “Heroes Immortales” takes place in October and “Guerra de Titanes” takes place in December. That also would mean there will be a full 5 months between major events for AAA (“Rey de Reyes” being the last one in March) but Konnan believes they have a solution. On Wrestling Observer’s radio show he announced that they would be running a “Noche de Campeons” (Night of Champions) event featuring all AAA Champions this summer (likely June) before “TripleMania” to give the fans a big show. The Champions you would expect to see defending their belts on that night are Mini Psicosis (Minis), Sexy Star (Reina de Reinas), Alan Stone & Jennifer Blake (Mixed Tag), Jack Evans (Cruiserweight), L.A. Park (Latin America), Abyss & Chessman (Tag Team), Psycho Circus (Trios), and Mesias (Heavyweight) would be there too if he wasn’t injured. So the question remains do you strip him of the belt and have a match to name a new Champion or just do a #1 Contenders Match.
Nicho Returns as Psicosis
This week Nicho el Millionario returned to his former character “Psicosis” under the mask once again at AAA’s most recent TV tapings. Nicho was the original Psicosis and hasn’t worn the mask since at least 2004 and hasn’t gone under the “Psicosis” name since his WWE run in 2005-2006. When Psicosis was in WCW, AAA put another wrestler under the mask, going by Psicosis II (who is now in CMLL). When Psicosis eventually returned to AAA many years later he and Psicosis II battled each other in a name vs. name feud which eventually saw Psicosis II win. After Psicosis II left AAA in 2010 they put yet another wrestler under the name as Psicosis III but that didn’t last very long and now they have gone back to the original (and best). – After the opener Fabi challenged Sexy Star to defend her title and Dorada challenged Mini Psicosis to defend his. Joaquin Roldan came out and agreed to sign both matches for the future, but the women’s match will be a 4-Way with two surprise luchadoras.
– They are using Cuervo as a part of the Mari/Fabi storyline as Mari thinks Fabi was paying attention to Cuervo on the outside during their Lumberjack Match a few weeks ago leading to the Apaches losing. They did a spot in the Tag Match where there were several dives leading to a double countout. Fabi came out and checked on Cuervo.
– Psicosis made his official return under the Psicosis name but his team still lost to the Psycho Circus in yet another mindless hardcore match.
– Psicosis ran back out during the Tag Titles match to cost the Mexican Powers the belts. Psicosis then tied Lider to the ropes after the match and cut him with a knife.
– Perro & Park argued during the Main Event leading to them losing and then PdM ran out and jumped Park afterward. Wagner tried to help Park but he didn’t want his help. Lider ran out and attacked Psicosis.
