New Tag Rules in CMLL
CMLL has started to enforce a new rule (I call it new but it’s always technically been there, just not enforced) in which luchadors have until a 10 count after a tag to leave the ring or be DQ’d. This has really taken away (for the most part) the typical 3-on-1 strategy rudos use in Trios matches and made the rudos use different tactics to get the usual rudo advantage on the tecnicos. Cubs Fan has an excellent blog on this new change with explanations at LuchaBlog: http://www.thecubsfan.com/cmll/?p=15680.
Best of Super Juniors in Japan
After an unbelievable start to the BOSJ Tournament for CMLL’s Angel de Oro he stalled out this week with 4 consecutive losses. Alex Koslov (who also started out very strong) fell behind not just Low-Ki but also former TNA X-Division Champion Brian Kendrick all the way to the 3rd place in Block B. Despite several consecutive losses Angel still remains in a 6-way tie for 1st place in Block A with Prince Devitt, Jushin Thunder Liger, KUSHIDA, former AAA & CMLL star Rocky Romero, and Dragon Gate’s PAC (all with 8 points), but despite being tied for 1st place he is guaranteed not to make it to the next round because he is the only one left with no remaining 1st Round Matches. The tie will be broken next week but Angel de Oro will not be a part of it. He will likely stick around and compete in some non-tournament matches though. Former WWE & TNA star Low-Ki won Block B with 14 points (as no one can mathematically catch up with him).

Dorian Roldan Wants Kurt Angle vs. L.A. Park
In an interview with Tercera Caida this week AAA President Dorian Roldan revealed that he wanted to bring in TNA’s Kurt Angle to face L.A. Park at TripleMania in what a surprise to some as Park has been building up to a match with Jeff Jarrett for nearly a year. AAA has wanted Angle for some time and Park vs. Angle would likely be an epic match (and MUCH better than Park-Jarrett) but this wouldn’t make much storyline sense (unless they have Jarrett bring Angle in to take Park out for him and they do the Jarrett match later on). Dr. Lucha said on Figure Four Daily that he believed AAA would actually be bringing Angle in one way or the other for TripleMania.
AAA Changes Bookers?
This week “Dr. Lucha” Steve Sims appeared on Figure Four’s radio show “Figure Four Daily” and reported that a “very reliable source in AAA not named Konnan” had revealed to him that AAA had replaced “Moody” Jack Melendez as AAA Head Booker with Miguel Fonseca (who has worked for AAA for quite some time). He said the rest of the Booking Committee would remain the same. Info courtesy of LuchaBlog.

* NOTES *
– El Mesias walked out after the first match and talked about his injury. He promised that he would be defending his title at TripleMania and then Perros del Mal walked out and said they would make sure he doesn’t make it to TripleMania.
– Atomic Boy was replaced by Aerostar in the 2nd match and Sexy Lady made her AAA debut on the rudo side.
– Laredo Kid made his return to AAA TV in the third match as he has been off TV for well over a year. That should be a fun match, he replaced Aerostar in the match.
– Dragon Gate’s CIMA was the surprise luchador in the fourth match, teaming with Halloween & Psicosis.

Shane Douglas Bringing Extreme Lucha Libre Back to America
Last week Shane Douglas confirmed the beginning of his new promotion Extreme Rising (which was Extreme Reunion) and announced that he would be bringing in a couple of luchadors to rekindle the old “Extreme Lucha Libre” matches from the old ECW. These hardcore style of Lucha Libre are the matches that got Psicosis, Juventud Guerrera, and Rey Misterio Jr. noticed in the 90’s and was something Super Crazy made a staple of his time in ECW. The two luchadors being brought into the 06/29 and 06/30 events in Philly are Bestia 666 (the son of the legendary Damian 666) and Pesadilla (Super Crazy’s nephew). Pesadilla is a mainstay in hardcore Lucha promotions like Perros del Mal and DTU while Bestia is as well and has wrestled for MEXPW too so “Extreme Lucha Libre” shouldn’t be a problem for either.

* NOTES *
– During the Loser Leaves Town Match Mixed Martial Archie left ringside but then returned as his other character (Archibald Peck). In the end Touchdown hit him with his helmet while the referee was distracted and pinned Peck. So this means Peck must leave CHIKARA (but apparently Mixed Martial Archie doesn’t since he was under the Peck persona when he was pinned).
– The Ladder Match was insane, Akuma Super Bombed Icarus off the ladder through the table leading to Akuma’s win ending their rivalry.
– Delirious ran out and attacked Saturyne leading to the Batiri’s DQ and then Delirious nailed Sara with the Panic Attack! Delirious kissed each member of the Batiri on the forehead after the match and then they followed him to the back leading to believe Delirious is now the leader of the group.
– In the Mask/Hair Match Donst choked Hallowicked out with a shoelace and it looked like Hallowicked would have to unmask, but the referee saw the shoelace and demanded the match be restarted. Hallowicked came back and forced Donst to tap to a Crossface and take his hair.
– Before the show started GEKIDO attacked Fire Ant leading to him being replaced in the 10-Man Tag by Jigsaw. After a wild match which saw Green Ant do an insane dive off a balcony, Soldier Ant forced 17 to tap to the CHIKARA Special.
– The Young Bucks take the Campeonatos de Parejas away from F.I.S.T. after they connected with the More Bang for Your Buck on Gargano.
