Extreme Rising Brings Extreme Lucha Libre
At this past weekends “Extreme Rising” events in America (promoted by former ECW Champion Shane Douglas) he brought in Pesadilla (nephew of former ECW TV Champion Super Crazy) and Bestia 666 (son of Damian 666) in for both shows (06/29 in Queens, NY and 06/30 in Philly) to have “Extreme Lucha Libre” Matches. Those types of matches were made famous in the 90’s by ECW when Psicosis, Juventud Guerrera, and Rey Misterio Jr. had a string of classic matches in the old ECW. The two 2nd generation luchadors had 2/3 Falls Matches with no rules on both nights with Bestia 666 coming out on top both shows. Both matches were very well recepted and both guys were said to have worked really hard in their appearances.
DG-USA July Main Events Set, High Flying Dream Matches, and more
This week Dragon Gate USA confirmed the Main Events for their 07/28 and 07/29 events. On 07/28 in Taylor, MI Johnny Gargano will defend the Open the Freedom Gate Title against Akira Tozawa and then at the 3rd Anniversary Show on 07/29 in Chicago Ricochet will team with Rich Swann to face off against CIMA and AR Fox in what should be a high flying masterpiece for the vacant Open the United Gate Titles! The tag titles match won’t be the only match that weekend that Air Traffic Control should be notified about. Before CIMA & Fox battle for the belts they will team up on 07/28 to meet El Generico & Samuray del Sol in what should be another high flying classic. Generico & del Sol met in two singles matches last weekend at the EVOLVE events in Florida in what were described as amazing matches by everyone in attendance, including other wrestlers. On the 07/29 event Generico will also go one-on-one with Akira Tozawa and if Tozawa is the champ at that point the belt will be on the line! Former CHIKARA tag team Super Smash Bros. (Player Uno & Player Dos) have agreed to appear at both July events as well and Ricochet vs. YAMATO in YAMATO’s first time back in DG-USA since dropping the belt last year has been signed for the 07/28 event. YAMATO has also signed on to face Jon Davis on 07/29.
PAC Headed to the WWE?
This past weekend after a big match for Dragon Gate’s PAC he surprised everyone by standing in all four corners of the ring and bowing before saying goodbye to the arena. This is typically seen as a ritual done by foreign wrestlers when they are leaving. Rumors were that WWE has shown interest in the British high flyer.
