Mistico Back to Japan This Weekend, Wants to Wrestle In U.S.

Mistico is returning to Japan this weekend to defend his IWGP Jr. Heavyweight Title against the man he won it from earlier this Summer, Tiger Mask. The match takes place at New Japan’s “Destruction 2009” PPV on 11/08. This is Mistico’s 3rd title defense and 1st in Japan. He successfully has defended the belt twice in Mexico, once against Negro Casas and once against Jushin Thunder Liger. Also, in an interview Fuego en el Ring Mistico expressed his desire to wrestle in the United States in 2010. TNA would be the best bet there because I doubt Ring of Honor could afford it, but who knows?

Strong Man Debuts in Japan
New CMLL Heavyweight, Strong Man (Jon Andersno), wrestled for the first time in Japan this week as a part of Antonio Inoki’s IGF promotion. He defeated Japanese wrestler Masato Shibata in pretty much a squash match at about 3 minutes. Welcome to CMLL’s world Masato.

Tinieblas Jr. Returning to CMLL?
Super Luchas revealed early this week that Tinieblas Jr. would be returning to CMLL in November and hopes to win a championship. Tinieblas is the son of the legendary original Tinieblas and has been mostly wrestling on the INDY scene (along with doing some movies) for the past few years. No word on how long he plans to stay in CMLL.

Hijo de Rey Misterio Coming to CMLL
Fuego en el Ring confirmed this week that the son of Rey Misterio Sr. and cousin of superstar Rey Mysterio Jr. is currently training with CMLL in Mexico City and would be making his debut with the company in a few weeks. Good move for him and I hope he does well.

CMLL Sending Luchadores to France
A few months ago CMLL announced that they would be sending several luchadores over to France for a mini tour of the country and late last week they finally revealed the final dates and the lineup of stars. Going over to France from 11/13 until 11/29 will be Sangre Azteca, Hijo del Fantasma, Stuka Jr., Valiente, Sagrado, Marcela, Hirokam, Dragon Rojo Jr., Misteroso II, & Nitro! The wrestlers will also be training at a wrestling school in Nanteree, France helping out with students there and CMLL hopes to get some of those students over to Mexico in the future.

Val Venis Not Coming to CMLL This Week
CMLL announced this week that Val Venis would not be coming into CMLL this week despite promoting it for the last couple of months. No word on if he will be coming in soon or not.

AAA

Octagon Arrested

AAA star Octagon was apparently arrested this past weekend for drunk driving. Octagon spoke on the issue on Thursday during a press conference stating that he had already taken care of the matter and that he had drank 2 glasses of wine. He says that people are attempting to smear his name. In other words, he got caught doing something stupid (drinking & driving) and now he’s mad that it got out. He was sentenced to 20 hours of community service.

Weird Cibernetico Internet “scandal”
A few days ago a profile for Cibernetico on a supposedly gay website popped up with a naked picture of the former AAA Heavyweight Champion (in no way am I going to the site to see it nor am I putting the link out or even looking for it). Ciber came out Thursday and said that the profile was obviously fake because he doesn’t even use the internet much (he probably doesn’t even know how to turn a computer on) and the picture was real. He claims that he sent it to his wife so obviously someone hacked into his cell phone or something. Regardless, it’s fake and please let’s move on.

PWR Announces Birth of Women’s Title

This week California-based lucha promotion, Pro Wrestling Revolution, announced the birth of the PWR Women’s Championship. The champion will be crowned on the January 30th show in San Francisco and none other than CMLL star, Lady Apache, will be battling for the title. Her opponent has yet to be announced but PWR assures that she will be an equally talented woman. This will be the 4th Championship for the promotion joining the PWR Heavyweight Title, Tag Titles, and Minis Title (which was just crowned last month). The following is a picture of the new title belt (courtesy of www.prowrestling-revolution.com):

Super Crazy Earns Title Shot In Panama
This month Super Crazy will have a chance at adding more gold to his waist and continue a stellar 2009 nearing the end of the year. At RXW’s “Jucio Final” in Panama Crazy will get a shot at Panama Jack Daniels’ RXW Heavyweight Championship! The event will take place on November 21st and is a rematch from the X-LAW event a few months ago where Crazy (under a mask) defeated Jack for the X-LAW Light Heavyweight Championship.

El Hijo del Santo Speaks on CMLL & AAA
This week El Hijo del Santo spoke out against both CMLL & AAA when he spoke with The Record in Mexico. Santo said that before TripleMania AAA promised him everything but delivered on nothing. He said they planned on giving him much less than they had promised and that’s why he left which he says is a shame because he hoped to do some good programs with guys like Silver King and Dr. Wagner. He says that CMLL is pretty much riding his coattails over in Europe even saying that he saw CMLL officials handing out flyers for CMLL’s show over there at a press conference Santo held in France. He says that both CMLL and AAA are wasting their TV time and they won’t realize until they’re kicked off of TV (unlikely). Santo was speaking mostly alot of truths about both companies honestly.
