?Yes, sir, we promised you a great main event?? The WWE video leads us into the show.
The WWE Superstars video plays and we?re brought into the arena with a great pyro display. Todd Grisham and Jim Ross welcome us to the show. Our Main Event will be brought to us by Raw as Kofi Kingston will take on The Miz. This will be Smackdown’s contribution right now.
Shad Gaspard vs. Tyson Kidd
My favorite referee in the whole world Charles Robinson is officiating this one. They circle the ring a few times with Kidd throwing a quick kick and ducking punches. Kidd puts himself through the ropes to keep Shad away as well. Kidd gets a waist lock then a quick side headlock. Shad lifts him up, throws him off, and shoulder blocks him down. Shad runs him into the corner and hits some punches. Shad then hits a nice biel on Kidd, sending him to the other side of the ring. Kidd is up in the corner and Shad splashes him there. Shad sends him into the ropes and hits a flapjack, giving him a near fall.
Shad wrenches the arm and kicks it. Shad sends him hard into the corner and runs right into a low dropkick to the knee. Kidd stretches it on the ropes for a few seconds. Kidd charges but Shad throws him out of the ring, and he takes a nasty spill. Shad gets out and punches him there. Shad puts him on his shoulder and drops him face first on the apron. Shad goes for a running big boot but Kidd moves and he hits the ring post. Kidd then uses the post to hurt Shad’s leg. Kidd gets in the ring and starts stomping on the knee. Kidd then wraps the legs around the ring post and locks on a Sharpshooter! All of a sudden JTG and Eve go head to head with David Hart Smith and Natalya on the outside. The referee separates them as we go to commercial.
-Commercial Break-
We come back from the break to see Shad locked in a leg bar. Shad reaches back and grabs Kidd’s face to get out. Kidd works on the knee more with a stomp and a wishbone split before locking the leg bar back on. Shad punches out so Kidd kneels on the ankle and twists. Shad eventually just kicks him out of the ring. Natalya and Smith check on him before the referee backs him up. Kidd gets to the apron and slides between Shad’s legs when he approaches and dropkicks him in the knee. Kidd goes into the ropes and Shad tosses him over his head. Kidd lands on his feet and hits a spin kick to the midsection. Kidd goes into the ropes and gets clotheslined down.
Shad gets some feeling back in his leg and picks Kidd up. He sends him into the ropes and clotheslines him twice before sending him back into the ropes and hitting a back body drop. Shad hits a big face buster for a near fall when Kidd gets his foot on the bottom rope. Shad gets him up and goes for Thugnificent but Kidd elbows out. Kidd goes into the ropes and gets back dropped to the apron. Kidd lands on his feet and hot shots him. Kidd springboards off the top rope into Thugnificent for the win!
Winner by Pinfall: Shad Gaspard

Cryme Tyme and Eve celebrate in the ring as the Hart Dynasty go up the ramp looking upset.
Another mindless Ask the Divas segment plays. I?m sorry to those that may enjoy this but I refuse to recap this any longer.
Sheamus, pale as ever, is walking backstage, ready for a match, which is next.
-Commercial Break-
Did you know last Thursday night WWE Superstars was watched by more people 18-49 than Larry King Live on CNN? WHAT?! That’s really a stat to be proud of?
Matt Striker and Josh Mathews welcome us back to the show. This is ECW’s contribution to the show.
Sheamus vs. Tyler Reks
They quickly lock up and Sheamus just as quickly pushes Reks away. They lock up again and Sheamus gets a side headlock on. Sheamus gets a hammerlock on and Reks twists into one of his own. Sheamus gets to the ropes to get out. They lock up again and Reks pushes him to the ropes. Sheamus pushes him and Reks pushes back. They go nose to nose and Sheamus slaps him in the face. Reks responds with punches before sending him into the ropes and hitting a hip toss. Reks hits a dropkick and Sheamus angrily gets out of the ring to recuperate.
Sheamus gets back in the ring and kicks Reks. Sheamus hits a club and Reks comes back with punches. Reks has a whip to the corner reversed on him. Reks goes to slingshot over Sheamus but Sheamus sidesteps him and kicks him in the midsection. Sheamus grounds and pounds him for a bit before the referee makes him stop. Sheamus goes back to it and punches some more. Sheamus hits a gut buster and covers for a near fall. Sheamus hits a club and locks on a form of the Rings of Saturn. Where are you Perry Saturn? Sheamus holds it on for a while before dropping a knee on the ribs. Sheamus shoulders him in the corner a few times until Reks goes for a sunset flip, but Sheamus doesn?t go. Sheamus goes for an elbow drop and Reks avoids that.
Reks kicks Sheamus in the head a few times and gets in the corner. Sheamus charges into some boots. Reks hits a two back elbows, kicks him in the knee, and face plants him. Reks screams and pleads with the crowd to get into the match as he goes for his big move but you can hear crickets and a boring chant as he drops an unimpressive elbow for a near fall. Reks has a whip reversed on him and Sheamus runs into a back elbow. Reks runs right into the Pump Kick and Sheamus picks up the win. This match sucked.
Winner by Pinfall: Sheamus

Still to come tonight is Kofi Kingston vs. Miz.
-Commercial Break-
Jerry ?The King? Lawler thanks Skillet for the use of their song ?Monster,? the official theme song of Hell in a Cell.
A Superstars video plays for Randy Orton. It would?ve been great had it not been for all the snake references. We get it; he’s the viper.
Michael Cole and Jerry Lawler run down the Hell in a Cell card.
The Miz makes his entrance. He?ll take on Kofi Kingston in a non-title match, next.

Mike’s Thoughts
Tonight was another all right Superstars. There wasn?t really anything of note here. None of the matches really meant anything or are just things we?ve seen before. I just have a few quick notes and observations.
One of the things I?ve been noticing over the past few weeks is that the matches that are taped on different days usually see the heel work on the same body part of the opponent as the one did that night before. Isn?t there an agent who remembers which part of the body was worked on the night before so they don?t do the same things over and over again the next night? It’s only an hour show. If they pick the knee to work on for two matches that have a commercial break in the middle, you?ll be seeing leg bars and figure fours in your dreams. If it’s the arm then it’s the arm bars and hammerlocks. They need to start watching out for that because it makes the show dull after a while when it’s the same stuff in nearly every match. Just a nitpick but it’s been bugging me.
A few months ago when Tyler Reks had his first match I cut him some slack because it was his first time. The last time he was on Superstars I criticized his character and his move set. Now I?m just begging that they take him off the air for good or do something else with him. Send him back to FCW and let him be the champion again while creative thinks of something else for him. Reks sucks so bad I can?t even find the right words in this recap to explain it. The character is bad, the move set is bad, the look is dated and generic. There is literally nothing remotely interesting about the character and nothing that the general public can connect to, as highly evidenced tonight when he attempted to get the crowd into the match. All you heard was screaming, and it was coming from him. If only they could hear me groan in disgust in the background.
That’s all I?ve got for tonight. I hope you all check out my recap for the tenth anniversary of Smackdown tomorrow night. It’s going to be a great episode.
