?Yes, sir, we promised you a great main event?? The WWE video leads us into the show.
The WWE Superstars video plays and we?re welcomed to the show by Michael Cole and Jerry ?The King? Lawler. We have the pleasure of listening to Lillian Garcia for the last time on WWE Television as she announces Chris Masters and Primo.

The match begins and Primo quickly gets a waist lock on. Masters simply powers him off and stomps him. Masters clubs him down and then lays him to waste with a right hand. Did you know that WWE Superstars was, once again, WGN America’s most watched telecast of the entire week? What does that say for WGN America? To be honest, before WWE Superstars I?d never even heard of the channel.
Matt Striker and Josh Mathews welcome us back to the show. This is ECW’s contribution to the show.
Goldust vs. William Regal
The bell rings but nothing happens as Regal is taking his time taking his robe off. You?d think after the debacle that happened at Summerslam that he?d have it off before the bell rings. They finally circle the ring and lock up. Goldust gets Regal in the corner and they?re broken up by the referee. They lock up and Regal wrenches the arm with a wrist lock. Goldust quickly twists out and flips Regal to his back before dropping a leg on his arm. Regal angrily backs to the corner to regroup. Regal gets a quick waist lock and gets a single leg takedown. Goldust gets thrown into the ropes. Regal attempts to distract the referee as Ezekiel Jackson punches Goldust but the referee catches him and disqualifies William Regal.

William Regal picks Goldust up for Vladimir Kozlov and Ezekiel Jackson to shoulder block down. Regal now locks on his Regal Stretch. Goldust is in pain until Christian, Tommy Dreamer, and Yoshi Tatsu runs down to help out. They clear the ring. It should be noted that Christian made a beeline for William Regal in that exchange.
Still to come tonight is Matt Hardy versus Kane.

A great Superstars video plays for Smackdown’s newest Superstar Batista.
Jim Ross and Todd Grisham welcome us back to the show. This will be Smackdown’s contribution to the show. Tomorrow night Batista will take on Big Show.
Michelle McCool & Layla vs. Maria & Melina
Melina and Maria don?t seem like they?re on the same page stemming from last week’s Smackdown when Maria accused Melina of trying to break her and Dolph Ziggler up. Melina will start the match out against Michelle McCool, who Melina defeated in a non-title match on Smackdown last week. They lock up and McCool quickly gets a waist lock on. Melina gets out but gets a knee to the midsection. McCool slams her down and covers for a one count. McCool hits her a few times and sends her into the ropes only to get a head-scissors face buster. Melina hits a kick and tags in Maria, who comes in and hits a blockbuster to a seated Layla, giving Maria a two count. Maria has a whip reversed on her but Layla lowers her head and eats a kick. McCool pulls on Maria’s hair, distracting her so Layla gets a kick in and a neckbreaker for a near fall. Layla gets a front face lock and tags in McCool. McCool punishes Maria with some strikes and covers for a two count. McCool bounces Maria’s head off the canvas and kicks her a few times before choking her on the bottom rope. McCool gets a neck vice on and chokes her again on the ropes.
McCool tags Layla back in. Layla hits a snapmare and locks on a chin lock. Melina gets the crowd into it and Maria fights out. Layla, however, kicks her down and locks the chin lock back on. Maria now fights up and hits a jawbreaker. Layla no sells it as she gets right back up and prevents Maria from making a tag. Layla knocks Melina off the apron. This distracts the referee enough for McCool to big boot Maria right in the face, knocking her out cold. Layla gets the easy cover for the win.
Winners by Pinfall: Michelle McCool & Layla
Match Rating: * ?
Michelle McCool and Layla celebrate up the ramp. Melina checks on Maria but Maria wants nothing to do with her.
A commercial for the Summerslam DVD plays. I?m only mentioning this because I found it funny that Aerosmith’s song plays during the commercial yet they?re not on the actual DVD.
-Commercial Break-
Another senseless ?Ask the Divas? segment plays. Jillian’s advice on losing weight is to starve yourself. She then says she was kidding and says to stay really active. Gee, thanks for that stellar advice! Absolutely senseless.
The Smackdown Rebound plays, highlighting the fallout from Breaking Point. Teddy Long was abducted by the Undertaker in a really silly but great segment. This Smackdown also saw the return of Batista.
Matt Hardy’s music hits. He?ll take on Kane next.
-Commercial Break-
Raw’s guest host this Monday will be the Reverend Al Sharpton. Anything for ratings, right? Our Superstars can?t get anyone watching so we?ll just keep bringing in outside sources to generate talk. What a plan.

JR mentions that he remembers when Kane beat Stone Cold Steve Austin for the WWE Title. JR is on a roll tonight. That reign was only for about twenty-four hours, though. Kane locks Hardy back in the bear hug. Hardy is in it for a bit until he head-butts out. Hardy hits some punches before wrenching the arm. Kane punches him, sends him to the ropes, and picks him up for a powerslam but Hardy slides off and chop blocks the knee. JR mentions that is fifteen yards on a Sunday but it’s legal on Thursday night. I?m loving the commentary tonight.

Mike’s Thoughts
Even though I generally hate when they break away from the three matches from three brands, tonight’s episode, featuring four matches, wasn?t bad at all. It was all timed out right so the matches got a chance to tell a little story and it was mostly entertaining.
It was nice to see Matt Hardy return to action after being MIA last week. Hardy looked strong in this match against Kane tonight. They mixed well and had a good match. I wonder where they?ll go with Matt Hardy from here. I?d like to see him in contention for the Intercontinental Title soon. It?d be even nicer if he ever got that elusive World Heavyweight Title shot but I don?t think he?ll ever be on the level his brother was. The real highlight of this match was Jim Ross? commentary. JR is always great (that’s why he’s a Hall of Famer) but tonight he was just on fire. I really enjoyed it. It made the whole presentation complete.
The rest of the show was good as well. The Divas tag match wasn?t bad at all, as was the ECW match. I liked the run in afterwards as well, even though I was left wondering ?Why Yoshi Tatsu??
Primo and Chris Masters had an entertaining match as well with a good finish. What are they doing with Chris Masters? He returned and zero has happened with him since. He looks good and is wrestling well. Give him a shot! Oh, wait, they have to make room on Raw so guys like Cedric the Entertainer can get a match in.
Final Rating: ** ?
