AAA

AAA Renames Pena Show

This week AAA announced that they had renamed the annual Antonio Pena Memorial Show to “Heroes Immortales” (Immortal Heroes) and are giving it a number much like TripleMania does. This years will be Heroes Immortales III. The logo still features a picture of Antonio Pena and is still considering a tribute to the great founder of AAA. The following is the new logo (courtesy of AAA):

Koslov Leaving AAA An Angle
Apparently Alex Koslov leaving AAA is all a work. He has been telling newspapers and websites (like the Record) that he was going to sue AAA to get his job back with the company which makes absolutely no sense, but it’s AAA so hey, whatever. Luchas2000 talked to CMLL and they said they had not spoken to Koslov at all (disputing the claim that Koslov made saying he had talked with Paco Alonso several times already).

AAA 09/06 TV Taping Results
1) Decnnis, Mini Abismo Negro, Polvo de Estrellas, & Sexy Star def. Gato Eveready, Mari Apache, Octagoncito, & Pimpinela Escarlata

5) El Mesias, Extreme Tiger, La Parka Jr., & Marco Corleone def. Dr. Wagner Jr., Electroshock, Silver King, & Ultimo Gladiador
* NOTES *
– This is Oriental’s last show in AAA which obviously only to take the straps off he and Cinthia. After the show AAA confirmed on it’s website that Oriental was officially done with AAA.

7) AAA Mega-Heavyweight Title: Dr. Wagner Jr. (c) vs. El Mesias
* NOTES *
– This is the 3rd Pena Memorial Show and it will be a TV Taping where most matches are gimmick matches.
– That’s right the first match will be in complete darkness with the wrestlers wearing glow in the dark ring gear.
– I believe this is the first time Fabi has defended the Reina de Reinas Title since winning it in 2008 (though I may just be forgetting one).
– Rules, as always, in Antonio Pena Cup (or Copa Antonio Pena) is it will be Gauntlet Rules. Two men in, when one is pinned, another comes in.

– Shingo & Davey Richards was said to have been match of the night and an incredible match. After the match Davey calls out Danielson and thanks him for putting him over but then attacks him! Davey yells “Best In The World!” at him and then says he’ll win the Open The Freedom Gate belt in November.

Perro Aguayo Jr. Gives His Thoughts on Mistico vs. Negro Casas
Last week Perro Aguayo Jr. made a pretty funny comment to Mexican news paper, El Financiero, when he was asked who he thought would win in the big Mask vs. Hair Match between Negro Casas and Mistico. Perro hilariously said that if Mistico won he and all of his Perros del Mal wrestlers would shave their heads together. I guess Perro doesn’t think Negro has much of a shot.
