The Superstars video plays and we?re brought into the arena with a great pyro display. Todd Grisham and Jim Ross from the Smackdown announce team welcome us to the show. This will be Smackdown’s contribution. John Morrison’s music hits so it should be a good one. They mention tomorrow night Jeff Hardy will make his first World Heavyweight Title defense against John Morrison.

John Morrison vs. Tyson Kidd

The match begins and they take some time before locking up. Morrison makes fun of Kidd’s haircut, which is really strange. They lock up and struggle before going to the corner. The referee separates Kidd from Morrison and we get a clean break. They take some time before locking up again. Morrison quickly goes for a waist lock and Kidd counters that into an arm wrench. Morrison digs down and gets a fireman’s carry takeover into an arm bar. Kidd fights up and backs Morrison into the corner. Kidd again gives a clean break but cowardly runs away from Morrison and goes behind the referee and through the ropes.

They take some time before attempting a lock up but Kidd ducks and gets a waist lock. Morrison quickly rolls him off and hits a beautiful arm drag into a cover for a one count. Morrison continues with the arm bar. Kidd fights up and gets a rope break. Natalya is rooting Kidd on hard from outside. Kidd takes a lot of time before getting back in the ring. They circle and Kidd pretends to go for a test of strength but instead Pearl Harbor’s Morrison and kicks him down. The nerve! Kidd hits a headlock takeover and keeps a tight grounded headlock on. Morrison fights up and whips Kidd off. Kidd shoulder blocks him down, goes into the ropes, over and under Morrison, and gets taken down by a flapjack. Morrison hits a break dance leg drop for a two count.

Kidd quickly rolls to the ropes. Morrison attempts to drag him to the middle but Kidd has a tight hold. The referee backs Morrison up as Kidd gets on the apron. Morrison punches him down and goes for a shoulder thrust but Kidd gets a knee up in the face. Kidd then takes a stunned John Morrison half-way through the ropes and hits a neckbreaker on the apron! Morrison falls to the outside holding his neck. Kidd kicks him and bounces his face off the apron. Kidd throws him back in the ring and covers for a two count.

Kidd locks the headlock back on and screams like a banshee. Morrison fights up and punches out. Morrison goes into the ropes and hits a crucifix pin for a near fall. Kidd quickly kicks him and throws him to the outside. Kidd argues with the referee as David Hart Smith gets a cheap kick in on Morrison. We go to the break with Tyson Kidd posing.

-Commercial Break-

We come back from the break to see Morrison locked in a tight chin lock. Kidd really has it wrenched on. Morrison soon fights up and hits a back suplex to get out. That just about folded Kidd in half! Both men fight up. Kidd goes for a punch which is blocked. A second attempt yields the same results. Kidd blocks a kick and Morrison counters with a pele kick before hitting a clothesline and a nice dropkick. Morrison taunts the crowd before sending Kidd into the ropes. Morrison hits a jumping back heel kick and covers for a near fall.

Morrison hits a European Uppercut and sends Kidd into the ropes but lowers his head and eats a kick to the face. Kidd goes into the ropes and Morrison quickly explodes by clotheslining him over the top rope. Morrison goes to the top rope for a dive to the outside but David Hart Smith and Natalya stand in his way. Morrison gets down and the referee gets between him and Smith. The referee makes Morrison get back in the ring and ejects David Hart Smith and Natalya from ringside! They protest but eventually leave.

Kidd has his back turned to watch the rest of the Hart Dynasty leaving and then turns into Morrison doing an over the top rope corkscrew cross-body! Morrison throws him back into the ring and covers for a near fall. Morrison goes for the Moonlight Drive but Kidd twists out and hits a nice jumping roundhouse to the face for a two count. Morrison walks into a spinning crescent kick to the midsection. Kidd goes into the ropes and hits a low dropkick to the face for a near fall. Kidd has a whip reversed on him but he’s able to hang onto the ropes. Morrison charges but Kidd gets his boots in his face and flips over to the apron. Kidd hits a shoulder thrust through the ropes and goes for a sunset flip but Morrison rolls through and hits a running knee to his face! Morrison goes to the corner and hits Starship Pain for the win!

Winner by Pinfall: John Morrison
Match Rating: ** ?

John Morrison celebrates with the crowd as they build up his title shot tomorrow night big time. They say he?ll do something he’s never done before ? become a World Champion. I guess ECW doesn?t count? Anyway this was a very good match.

Todd Grisham and Jim Ross talk about WWE.com, particularly the Ask the Divas feature. This week their advice is don?t steal anyone’s boyfriend and they say what they like to do on their days off. If you need advice you can ask them. I?m sure you?ll be the lucky one they answer.

Still to come tonight is Randy Orton making his WWE Superstars debut against Primo.

-Commercial Break-

William Regal’s music hits and we?re welcomed back to the show by Josh Mathews and Matt Striker. This will be ECW’s contribution to the show. They show a replay of Yoshi Tatsu beating William Regal last week.

William Regal vs. Yoshi Tatsu

My favorite referee Charles Robinson is refereeing this one. The match begins and Tatsu quickly fakes Regal out with a big kick. They lock up and Regal quickly attacks the arm with an arm wrench takeover. Regal brings him up with a wrist lock so Tatsu flips to reverse the pressure and locks a key lock on Regal. Tatsu takes Regal down with a leg lock and quickly gets a heel lock on Regal. Regal hits a stiff kick to the face but it doesn?t faze Tatsu, who rolls Regal over and locks on a toe hold. Regal quickly grabs the bottom rope.

They both get up and lock up. Regal quickly attempts something but Tatsu twists and gets a headlock on. Regal pushes him to the corner and gets kicked in the face. Tatsu comes out of the corner and Regal hits a quick T-Bone Suplex. Tatsu rolls out of the ring so Regal follows him, gets him on his shoulders, and brings him off face first into the apron. Regal gets in the ring and wants a count-out. Robinson begins counting and Tatsu answers the count by getting back in at the count of seven.

Regal was right there to greet him as he got back in and kicks him a bunch of times. Regal hits a European Uppercut, whipped him into the ropes, and hits a back elbow for a two count. Regal locks Tatsu in a grounded Cobra Clutch (maggot) but Tatsu gets up and fights back with some powerful kicks and slaps. Regal ducks one and hits a double under-hook butterfly suplex for a near fall. Tatsu looks like he almost landed on his head there. Regal hits him some more before locking on a face lock.

Tatsu fights up and punches out but Regal cuts him off with another uppercut. Tatsu answers with some slaps but Regal hits another uppercut. This time Tatsu hits some kicks, stunning Regal. Tatsu ducks a clothesline and hits a spinning wheel kick for a two count. Tatsu kicks Regal in the back hard, putting Regal in the corner. Tatsu gets to the second rope and hits some karate chops to the neck. Regal pushes him off and hits a running forearm. Regal sends him to the corner so Tatsu attempts to slingshot over but Regal catches him and drops him on his face before going into the ropes and hitting a nasty Knee Trembler to the face for the win!

Winner by Pinfall: William Regal
Match Rating: **

Still to come tonight is WWE Champion Randy Orton vs. Primo.

-Commercial Break-

Did you know that more people watched WWE Superstars last Thursday than any program on SyFy, Discovery Channel, E!, CMT, VH1, or ESPN? Screw the Coach!

A great Superstars video plays highlighting Montel Vontavious Porter, MVP. This was a great video. It’s probably the best promotion he’s gotten since facing Randy Orton on his first night on Raw. Since then he’s disappeared.

Michael Cole and Jerry ?The King? Lawler welcome us back to the show and bring us to the Raw Rebound. Blah, blah, blah, Shaq was on the show. We?ve heard by now. Oh, and John Cena will take on Randy Orton at Summerslam, the same Main Event from Summerslam 2007 two years ago. Let me emphasize that ? two YEARS ago.

Don?t forget on Monday it?ll be Triple H vs. Cody Rhodes and Ted DiBiase. Can you say HBK?

Josh Mathews is backstage with WWE Champion Randy Orton. Mathews asks for Orton’s comments on Cena’s winning of Beat the Clock. Orton says Beat the Clock was designed for him to have new challengers to face. Yeah, that concept failed. Orton says John Cena is the big winner. If we really want to know what Cena has won and earned, then watch his match with Primo tonight as he dissects Primo. That’s what John Cena has won. Orton congratulates Cena on Beating the Clock and says at Summerslam he’s going to beat him.

-Commercial Break-

Don?t forget John Morrison will attempt to capture the World Heavyweight Championship from Jeff Hardy tomorrow night on Smackdown.

Randy Orton vs. Primo

This will be a non-title match, of course. Orton is making his way to the ring without Legacy by his side. This is Randy Orton’s first appearance on WWE Superstars.

The match begins and they circle the ring before locking up. Orton gets a quick side headlock on and has it locked on tight. Primo whips him off and Orton takes him down with a shoulder block that sends Primo flying. They circle the ring before locking up again and Orton gets the side headlock back on. Primo whips him off and again gets shoulder blocked down. Orton looks to the crowd and goes into the ropes only to get arm dragged down by Primo. Orton looks at him in anger before getting up. They circle the ring and lock up only for Primo to take him down with a headlock takeover. Orton quickly locks on a head-scissors. Primo kips him out of it and hits a pair of deep arm drags on Orton. Orton rolls out of the ring and looks on in anger as Primo seemingly has the upper hand.

Orton gets in the ring and kicks Primo. Orton punches and kicks him down before the referee removes him. Orton turns into a double leg take down and Primo punches him a bunch of times. Primo hits a pair of dropkicks before sending Orton into the ropes and attempting another dropkick but Orton hangs on to the ropes. Primo rolls out of the ring as we go to commercial.

-Commercial Break-

We come back from the break to see Primo locked in a tight chin lock. Orton has it locked on for a while. During the break we see Orton drive Primo back first into the apron. Primo fights up in live action and attempts to punch out but Orton lays him out with a club. Orton takes him down with an uppercut before choking him. Orton hits some stiff stomps before being admonished. Orton hits some kicks to the ribs and face before covering for a two count. Orton lays him down and goes for a big knee drop and hits it. Orton covers for a near fall. Why would Primo want to continue? There’s no hope.

Orton rakes his boot against Primo’s face and kicks him in the ribs. Orton drops a knee to the back of the neck for a near fall. The referee counted from the outside, which is illegal. Primo charges and Orton takes him down with a big chin lock. Primo attempts to fight up but Orton stuns him. Primo then quickly stuns Orton with a side Russian Leg Sweep. Orton gets up and hits a kick. Orton sends Primo into the ropes and gets taken down by a flying back elbow and a clothesline. Primo does his dance and hits a dropkick. Primo has a reverse to the corner reversed on him but gets boots in Orton’s face when he charges. Primo goes to the top rope and hits a missile dropkick for a near fall.

Primo goes to the apron and goes for a springboard cross-body but Orton ducks under it. Orton, the ?viper,? is ?coiled? and ?ready to strike.? Shut up Michael Cole! Orton hits a huge RKO and covers for the unquestioned win.

Winner by Pinfall: Randy Orton

Mike’s Thoughts

This was a very good episode of Superstars. Almost everything was good about it, save for the commentary during the Main Event. We had the WWE Champion on the show, the Number One Contender to the World Heavyweight Championship on the show, and Yoshi Tatsu. Does it get any better?

I know it’s not exactly a brand new topic but GD Michael Cole and Jerry Lawler are an annoying bunch of corporate mouths. Do they have any original thoughts or statements or is it all just fed to them? It was nice to watch Randy Orton dissect Primo but in hindsight I wish I watched it with the mute button on.

John Morrison and Tyson Kidd had a great match tonight. I?m so excited for John Morrison’s title shot tomorrow night. It should be a great match and from the looks of tonight he looks ready. Tyson Kidd will be a future star as well. Kidd looked tremendous here as well.

Nice to see William Regal and Yoshi Tatsu lock horns tonight. They had a very good match. William Regal, as always, is a gem and Yoshi Tatsu looked really good here, too. All that Japanese training! I?m looking forward to seeing Yoshi Tatsu wrestle more in the future.

Final Rating: ** ?
