During last night’s episode of WWE NXT, former Impact Wrestling star EC3 made his official NXT debut interrupting an announcement by NXT GM William Regal.
Regal formally announced the creation of the new NXT North American Championship and that a new champion would be crowned at NXT TakeOver: New Orleans in two weeks.
The first-ever North American Champion will be determined in a six-man ladder match featuring EC3, Adam Cole, Ricochet, Velveteen Dream, Lars Sullivan and Killian Dain.
EC3’s debut comes just one week after his official departure from Impact Wrestling aired on last week’s Impact on Pop TV, receiving a pink slip in Feast or Fired.
This adds to an already loaded lineup for TakeOver in New Orleans including Andrade “Cien” Almas defending the NXT Championship against Aleister Black, Ember Moon defending the NXT Women’s Championship against Shayna Baszler, Johnny Gargano vs. Tommaso Ciampa in an unsanctioned match and the Undisputed Era defending the NXT Tag Team Championships against the winners of the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic.
