WWE edits “Rusev Day” chant off Smackdown Live clip

Twitter user @DunKology has posted a video showing how WWE did some creative editing for a clip from Smackdown Live uploaded to the company’s YouTube page on Tuesday.

During the opening segment of this week’s Smackdown Live in New Orleans, Paige was introduced as the new General Manager of the show by Shane McMahon after noting that Daniel Bryan gave his notice for the role now that he’s back on the roster full-time.

Towards the end of the segment, Paige noted she was booking Daniel Bryan in a match on Tuesday night and tried to tease who his opponent would be. During the live version of the segment, the crowd in New Orleans chanted “RUSEV DAY” in support of Rusev. However, a clip of the segment uploaded to YouTube replaced the chants with “AJ Styles” instead.

You can check out the clip in question on Twitter below.

WWE still has the edited clip uploaded to YouTube, now boasting over 2.2 million views.

More on WWE replacing Rusev in match

TMZ Sports posted an interview with Rusev and Lana earlier this morning where he was asked about getting the chance to face The Undertaker at the Greatest Royal Rumble.

During the interview, Rusev made comments about Undertaker being part of the past.

“Undertaker is a little bit in the past. I’ll beat him so bad it may be his last fight.”

Only a few hours later, WWE announced Chris Jericho would be replacing Rusev in the match against The Undertaker in two weeks from Saudi Arabia.

Whether or not WWE officials are not pleased with Rusev at the moment remains to be seen, but it’s pretty clear his comments may have caused the sudden switch today.
