Promotion cites WWE “contractual situation” with Rey Mysterio, Triple H on NXT ever airing on FOX

Rey Mysterio

Northeast Wrestling released a statement on Facebook this week citing an “upcoming contractual situation with WWE” involving a planned Rey Mysterio appearance.

Mysterio was scheduled to make an appearance for the promotion on August 24, but was forced to pull out of the event. The company specifically citing WWE was quite interesting given Mysterio will be appearing at the ALL IN event on September 1 in Chicago.

It was reported back in June that Mysterio was continuing to have talks with WWE about returning to the company for a long-term deal. Mysterio made an appearance for WWE back in April at the Greatest Royal Rumble, along with the Rumble in January.

Based on the statement, it would appear Mysterio may have already agreed to a deal.

Triple H on NXT ever airing on FOX

During yesterday’s NXT conference call with the media, Paul “Triple H” Levesque was asked about the possibility of NXT programming ever airing on FOX as part of the company’s new television agreement with the broadcast partner starting next year.

While Triple H said they were only concentrating on the deals they have in place now, he did add “never say never” when it comes to NXT programming finding a home on television in addition to its current weekly time slot on the WWE Network.
