Effective July 7, The Sci Fi Channel will be changing its name to “Syfy.” According to reports, the goal is to get viewers outside of their current “cult viewership” as it was described. Some have pointed out that if things go bad for Smackdown on MyNetworkTV that the network could be a possible option for WWE with ECW already in the lineup, which wasn’t an easy task to get going in mid-2006 as wrestling on a network like Sci Fi wasn’t something the network was big on.
